Best PC Graphics Settings for Blair Witch: A Practical Starting Point

Use native resolution and the game’s baseline settings, then test shadow quality and resolution changes one at a time. Here’s what the official requirements do—and don’t—tell you.

For a balanced starting point in Blair Witch, use your monitor’s native resolution and the game’s current preset or detected settings. If performance is poor, lower shadow quality first; if that is not enough, try a lower resolution. Turn off motion blur if you prefer a sharper image while moving. These are sensible adjustments to test—not a guaranteed best preset or quantified FPS fix for every PC.

Start with a baseline, then adjust one setting at a time

There is no sourced, controlled benchmark establishing a universal high, medium, or custom configuration for every graphics card, resolution, and frame-rate target. Begin with the game’s current baseline at your display’s native resolution, note how it performs in a representative scene, then change one option and revisit the same scene. This makes it easier to see whether an improvement is worth the visual trade-off.

  1. Keep native resolution initially. It preserves the display’s intended sharpness and gives you a consistent baseline.
  2. Lower shadow quality if frame rate is unsatisfactory. Players have suggested this adjustment, but their reports do not establish a predictable gain on all systems. Steam Community: “FPS problem”
  3. Try reducing resolution next if needed. This can make the image visibly softer; the community discussion does not quantify how much performance it will recover. Compare the same scene before and after. Steam Community: low-end PC tweaks
  4. Disable motion blur if you dislike blur during movement. Treat this as a motion-clarity preference, not a confirmed performance boost.

Choose the trade-off that fits your system

Adjustment Potential benefit Trade-off or limit
Lower shadow quality May help performance; players report trying it. Shadow detail is reduced, and the size of any gain is not established.
Lower output resolution May help when performance remains poor. The image is less sharp; reports do not specify a consistent FPS improvement.
Turn off motion blur Can make movement look clearer to players who dislike the effect. No reliable performance benefit is established.
Keep native resolution and baseline preset Maintains display sharpness and provides a useful comparison point. May not be smooth enough on a given PC.

Your GPU, CPU, resolution, and—on laptops—which GPU actually runs the game all affect the result. The available reports do not isolate their effects for this title, so judge the changes on your own system rather than treating any one adjustment as a universal bottleneck. Community advice about LPV, anti-aliasing, and configuration-file variables likewise does not establish reliable, cross-system settings.

Check laptop GPU selection if performance seems unexpectedly low

If your laptop has switchable graphics, verify that Blair Witch is using its dedicated high-performance GPU rather than integrated graphics. A player discussion recommends checking GPU selection, but exact Windows and driver controls differ by system; use the GPU-selection options provided by your laptop or graphics driver rather than copying unverified engine-variable edits. Steam Community: low-end PC tweaks

What the official PC requirements tell you—and what they do not

Steam lists the following system requirements for Blair Witch. They describe minimum and recommended hardware tiers, not a promised frame rate at a specified resolution or settings level. Steam Support: Blair Witch technical requirements

Component Minimum Recommended
Operating system Windows 7 (64-bit) Windows 10
Processor Intel Core i3-3220 / AMD A8-7600 Intel Core i5-6500 / AMD Ryzen 5 1600

Graphics GeForce GTX 750 Ti / AMD Radeon R7 265 GeForce GTX 1070 / AMD Radeon RX 590
DirectX Version 11 Version 11

Meeting a listed tier does not guarantee a particular FPS, and a recommended GPU listing alone is not a reason to upgrade. For the game’s description and store details, see the Steam store listing for Blair Witch.
