“OS settings” on Roblox does not refer to a menu inside Roblox. It means your device’s operating system settings, the controls your phone, tablet, or computer uses to decide what apps are allowed to do. Roblox sometimes points you there when a feature needs a permission that only the device can grant.
What “OS” means here
OS stands for operating system, such as iOS, Android, Windows, or macOS. Roblox runs as an app on top of that system, so any permission the app needs has to be switched on in the system’s own settings. Roblox itself cannot change those settings for you.
The example Roblox Support gives
Roblox Support’s “Game Shortcuts” article describes adding a shortcut for a Roblox game to a mobile home screen or a computer’s desktop. It states that shortcut availability on mobile is rolling out gradually, recommends using the latest version of the Roblox app, and notes that availability varies by device manufacturer. For some devices, you may need to enable the Home screen shortcuts permission for Roblox in your OS settings.
This is the clearest official use of the phrase that we could identify. It shows the general pattern: Roblox asks for a capability, and your device decides whether to allow it.

How to find the permission on your device
Roblox’s documentation does not give one universal menu path, because the location depends on the operating system, the device, and the manufacturer. Use this approach instead:
- Note the exact wording of the Roblox message or prompt, including the feature it names.
- Open your device’s Settings app and search for Roblox, or find Roblox in the list of installed apps.
- Look for the permission named in the prompt, such as home screen shortcuts, and switch it on.
- Return to Roblox, update the app to the latest version if you have not already, and try the shortcut again.
If you cannot find the permission, the device model and the exact Roblox message are the two details that matter most. Without them, any step-by-step path would be a guess.

When the prompt is about something else
Not every Roblox message that mentions OS settings is about shortcuts. Other features, such as microphone or camera access, are controlled the same way, but the source we reviewed does not connect them to the “OS settings” wording. Check the exact text of the prompt before changing anything.
