The Mystery Portal in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 is in Town Hall, inside the Backyard Battleground hub. Access depends on scheduled Mystery Portal events, so the portal is only usable while an event is running.
Where to find it
EA’s February content update directs players to Town Hall to enter a Mystery Portal event. EA, “February Content Update”

- Launch Garden Warfare 2 and enter the Backyard Battleground hub.
- Go to Town Hall.
- Look for the Mystery Portal entry when a Mystery Portal event is active, and enter it from there.
Why it may look closed
Town Hall is not a permanent Mystery Portal location. An EA Forums thread on Town Hall access says the portal is unavailable outside its scheduled opening, so a missing or inactive portal usually means no event is running rather than a wrong location. EA Forums, “Town Hall Issue”
Finding out when it is open
The sources available for this guide do not establish a current or upcoming event date, and older schedules may no longer apply. Check the game’s in-game event information for the active schedule before heading to Town Hall. If the portal is not listed as active, the location remains the same; only the timing changes.
