How to find The Mire on the map
Open the in-game map and look toward the northeast. Bethesda lists The Mire among Appalachia’s six regions: The Forest, Toxic Valley, Ash Heap, Savage Divide, The Mire, and Cranberry Bog. The official guide identifies the regions but does not mark The Mire’s exact borders, so use the northeast as an orientation rather than a precise outline. Bethesda’s 2021 newcomer guide provides the region list; the northeast placement comes from a secondary Fallout Wiki search-result passage.
How to reveal destinations in The Mire
To make nearby points of interest easier to find, use the maps inside train stations and climb lookout towers. Bethesda’s guide says these reveal nearby locations. A location becomes fully discovered when you visit it; afterward, its map icon can be used for fast travel, which costs Caps.
A named Mire landmark: Fisherman’s Rest
If you are looking for a specific destination, Fisherman’s Rest is an official location in The Mire. Bethesda’s June 2025 Gone Fission announcement identifies it as the starting point for the “Casting Off” questline, where players receive their first fishing rod. The announcement does not provide coordinates, so use the in-game map and discovered points of interest to navigate there.
