You don’t need a cheat to show coordinates in Minecraft. In Bedrock Edition, turn on Show coordinates in the world’s game settings. In Java Edition, press F3 to open the debug screen and find XYZ.
Show coordinates in Bedrock Edition
- Pause the game and open Settings.
- Select Game.
- Scroll to World Options and turn on Show coordinates.
The coordinates appear in the world display. Minecraft’s Overworld guide describes this setting and the coordinate display.
Show coordinates in Java Edition
Press F3 to open the debug screen, then look for the XYZ values. On some keyboards, you may need to use the function key with F3. Minecraft’s Overworld guide identifies the debug screen as the way to view coordinates in Java Edition.
Why you should not enable cheats just for coordinates
Bedrock’s Show coordinates option is separate from Allow Cheats. You can display coordinates without enabling cheats. In a Bedrock single-player world, enabling cheats permanently disables achievements for that world—even if you later turn cheats off. See Minecraft’s guide to using commands for details.

What X, Y, and Z mean
The three values mark your position in the world. They can help you navigate, find places or players, and use Y-level information while mining. Minecraft explains these uses in its Overworld guide.
Minecraft Education
Minecraft Education support guidance says to enable Show coordinates in settings. The available support discussions are older, so the exact menu path may vary by installed version. The discussions also note that the Java F3 debug screen is not available in Education, which is based on Bedrock: “F3 Doesn’t Work” and “How do you access the debug screen in M:EE”.
