Why do some guides say the cap is 60?
Level 60 was the original cap. Ubisoft’s July 28, 2025 Title Update 1.0.7 release notes raised it to 80. The earlier figure is outdated, not a separate cap for a particular mode.
Do you need New Game+ to reach level 80?
No. Ubisoft’s summer roadmap announcement said the increase applies to all players, whether or not they are playing New Game+.
Is Knowledge Rank or Mastery level the same as character level?
No. These are separate progression systems. Character level improves base stats, affects the level of gear you can equip, and grants Mastery Points as you level. Knowledge Rank unlocks higher tiers of abilities; Mastery Points are spent to unlock abilities. Naoe and Yasuke share level, XP, Mastery Points, and Knowledge progression. Ubisoft’s progression deep dive explains how these systems differ. Title Update 1.0.7 also expanded Knowledge Ranks to 9 and 10, so those numbers should not be mistaken for the character-level cap.

Ubisoft’s June 16, 2026 final-update article discusses later content but does not announce another character level-cap change. The latest explicit cap figure in the cited official updates remains 80; the 2026 article does not independently reconfirm it.
