The reported level cap in The Outer Worlds 2 is 30. Obsidian’s patch notes refer to players reaching level 30, while a guide and a community mod listing explicitly identify 30 as the base-game limit. The official notes reviewed do not announce a later cap increase.
What is the maximum level in The Outer Worlds 2?
For the unmodified game, the reported maximum character level is 30. GamingProMax’s October 26, 2025 guide states that the game caps at level 30: GamingProMax’s level-cap guide. This is secondary reporting, rather than an official cap announcement.
There is also official evidence consistent with that limit. In its 1.0.6.0 patch notes, Obsidian said it had “Added more XP needed for levels 21-25 so players don’t hit level 30 as early.” The note confirms that level 30 was a progression milestone the update addressed, though it does not state the cap outright: Obsidian’s Patch 1.0.6.0 notes.
Can you level past 30?
A community-made Nexus Mods listing advertises a modification that removes the 30-level cap and raises it to 50. That describes a modded configuration, not the standard game: Caites’ level-cap mod listing. Mods can depend on game version and are not an official change to progression.

Has an official update raised the level cap?
Obsidian’s Patch 1.2.0.0 notes, dated June 24, 2026, list other updates but do not announce a level-cap increase: Obsidian’s Patch 1.2.0.0 notes. That means the reviewed official notes provide no confirmation of a higher cap; it does not establish what future updates may do.
What does the cap mean for skill points?
PC Gamer’s October 23, 2025 review reports that characters receive two skill points at each level-up; it also says tagging a skill grants two free points. These details help explain why the level limit matters for character development, but they do not establish a complete total of points or every reward a character receives by level 30: PC Gamer’s review.
