How Seasonal Growth changes planting
Seasonal Growth on
Planting is restricted to each crop’s window. Prepare fields and equipment ahead of busy periods, especially when several crops need to be sown at once. The Academy describes the crop calendar as the tool for checking when to sow and harvest.

Seasonal Growth off
GIANTS Software’s FS25 manual says deactivating Seasonal Growth allows you to plant and harvest at any time. This removes calendar restrictions for a more flexible sandbox-style save.
Days per month and harvest deadlines
The Academy says the default is one day per month and the setting can be increased to 28 days per month; changing it changes the length of the in-game year. Wheat illustrates why both the season and harvest deadline matter: the Academy says it takes ten months to grow and is ready the following July or August, depending on when it was planted. It also warns that wheat left beyond its harvest timeframe withers; its example says it must be harvested before October.

Plan around busy seasons and equipment
March and April are crowded planting months: cereals, row crops, root crops, rice, and vegetables share spring windows. Many harvests cluster in late summer and autumn, while barley and some other cereals are ready earlier in summer. Spread fields across different windows where practical, and choose crops to match the equipment you have available.
- Budget for specialist harvesting equipment before planting root vegetables, cotton, grapes, olives, or rice; these are not interchangeable with a standard grain setup.
- Use the official crop tutorial index for crop-specific guidance on equipment and handling.
- For custom maps or modded saves, consult the calendar shown in the save. The Academy calendar explanation covers the base seasonal system, while a calendar companion tool describes using base-game data by default and syncing with server crop data, including custom maps: Farming Simulator app.
Why your save’s calendar may differ
The month ranges above are a practical standard-calendar baseline, not a guarantee for every map, mod, or version. The official manual and Academy explain Seasonal Growth and give wheat as an example, but the detailed month-by-month list comes from a secondary crop guide. If a listed window conflicts with what your save shows, use the in-game crop calendar as the final word.
