How the map was announced
Citadelle des Morts was first introduced on November 7, 2024, in Call of Duty Staff’s Season 01 overview, “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Call of Duty: Warzone Season 01: Everything You Need to Know.” At that stage it was presented as a mid-season addition to Season 01 Zombies content. The exact launch day and time were confirmed in the December 3 Reloaded announcement, which is the source to rely on for scheduling.

The setting is a medieval fortress in Avalon, one of the area’s old landmarks. According to the December 3 announcement, the story follows the events of Terminus. It centers on a French Syndicate operation, the crew’s search for Gabriel Krafft, and information about the Sentinel Artifact. These are fictional game-world details, not real-world history.
