To complete the Birds! collectible in Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, record 15 birds with Swann’s camcorder. Check the woodland trail in Welcome to Velvet Cove and the filming area in Lights, Camera, Action! especially carefully: both have multiple opportunities. The locations below are organized by scene so you can find a missed sighting without searching the whole game.
How bird filming works
This is an in-game collectible hunt, not a search for real-world filming locations. DON’T NOD describes exploring Velvet Cove and filming with Swann’s camcorder as a core activity. The Birds! target is 15 recordings; the walkthroughs list bird sightings across chapters, but their use of labels such as “owl” and “horned owl” does not establish a definitive count of distinct species.

Use the camcorder’s bird silhouette or collectible cue to confirm a target when a landmark is described differently between guides. GameSpot’s location guide, published April 16, 2025, notes that many birds are easy to spot in Welcome to Velvet Cove and Lights, Camera, Action!, while other sightings are easier to miss. A GameFAQs walkthrough, updated December 9, 2025, cross-checks several of the landmarks.
Bird locations by scene
Swann Holloway
- Cardinal: At the very beginning of the game.
The Day We Met
- Ring-billed gull: Look for it perched on the white van in the Movie Palace parking lot.
The First Night
- Owl: This bird first appears during the chapter.
Lights, Camera, Action!
- Great Blue Heron: Near the pond by the Forest Girls filming area.
- Black-billed magpie: Look on distant rocks after you pass the hunting stand. GameFAQs describes a related collectible landmark as a tree stump near the broken motorcycle and hunting tree house inside the fenced area. Follow the in-game bird cue if the landmark wording does not seem to match.
- American robin: At the log crossing, turn around and look for it on a post behind you. GameFAQs places it on a wooden post near the left side of the crossing entrance.
Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark and The Abyss
- Horned owl: At the beginning of Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark.
- Ravens: Scan the tree branches in both dark chapters. In the dark sequence, GameFAQs specifies a raven in a tree along the left-hand path.
This Old House
- Wood Thrush: Outside the cabin by the wind chimes. The GameFAQs walkthrough also points to the birdhouse at the cabin’s front or a bronze basin behind it as landmarks for locating a sighting.
Echoes of Summer
- Mallard: Look out on the lake.
Bloom
- Tufted Titmouse: Near the door at the beginning of the scene. It may fly away if you approach too closely.
Packing Up
- Red-headed woodpecker and goldfinch: Just outside the cabin after returning from the lake.
Kat
- Blue jay: On top of the large concrete pipes in the park.
Welcome to Velvet Cove
- House finch: After Swann has her snack on the trail, look ahead for two birds on the ground. If startled, one can land on the log.
- Canada goose: Look for a group of three around the middle of the stream.
Easy-to-miss sightings and practical tips
- Turn back at the log crossing. The American robin is behind you on a post, so check before moving on.
- Keep your distance from the titmouse. At the start of Bloom, avoid walking right up to the bird near the door; it can fly away.
- Look into the branches during dark scenes. Ravens can blend into the tree line, including along the left-hand path.
- Make the two bird-rich scenes thorough searches. Check the trail in Welcome to Velvet Cove and the pond, rocks, and crossing in Lights, Camera, Action! rather than rushing through.
- Use the collectible cue to resolve conflicting landmark descriptions. The guides describe some spots with different nearby landmarks, so confirm the actual bird target in-game.
What to do if you miss a bird
The walkthroughs describe chapter-based revisits and later opportunities to look for collectibles. If you are short of 15 recordings, replay the relevant scene in collectible mode and return to the landmark listed above. The menu behavior has not been independently confirmed for every platform, so check the options available in your game rather than assuming every version presents the same replay flow.
