To finish The Ephemeral Blight Encounter in Where Winds Meet, collect the three cure documents at Wishing Cove, Hollow Abode, and Aureate Pavilion, read the Thousand-Wish Amendment from your Quest inventory, hand in all three cures to Zhai Xu, and advance two in-game days. The later steps lead through Mistveil Forest to a hidden lair, where you solve an evidence deduction and clear the remaining Dawn-to-Dusk blooms. This spoiler-inclusive walkthrough is based on guide accounts; the newest located handbook labels its balance version unverified.
How the encounter begins
Enter Mistveil Forest in Kaifeng and continue into the dense Dawn-to-Dusk venomous mist. The exposure triggers a rescue sequence: your character collapses and wakes at Wishing Cove with Zhai Xu. Pick up the Broken Jade Pendant, then speak with him.
Find the first cure and read the amendment
Search Zhai Xu’s home
Inspect the documents in Zhai Xu’s home to collect the Wishing Cove cure and the Thousand-Wish Amendment. If Zhai Xu interrupts your search, use Meridian Touch on the wind chime to distract him.
Read the amendment from your Bag
Open the Bag, go to the Quest section, and read the Thousand-Wish Amendment. A 2026 handbook warns that picking up the document without reading it can leave the next objective unregistered; reading it is the step that advances the three-cure task.

Collect the Hollow Abode cure
Travel to Hollow Abode and search the underground rooms reached by the western-house route associated with the Soulshade Umbrella theft. The cure is a document in this underground area. The weapon objective on that route is separate: acquiring the Soulshade Umbrella is not required just to collect the cure.
Collect the Aureate Pavilion cure
Go to the Aureate Pavilion outpost and search inside its main building for the cure document. Clearing the outpost is not enough on its own: make sure you actually pick up the document.

Hand in the cures and wait for the next objective
- Confirm you have the Wishing Cove, Hollow Abode, and Aureate Pavilion cure documents.
- Return to Wishing Cove and give all three cures to Zhai Xu.
- Advance the in-game clock by two days. This means two days in the game, not two real-world days.
- Return to Wishing Cove and follow the next note to the northern rendezvous.
Reach the hidden lair
Follow the quest route farther into Mistveil Forest. Use Fire Arrows to clear Dawn-to-Dusk blooms and vines that obstruct the path. Continue following the objective prompts, investigate the marked evidence, and enter the hidden lair.
Solve the hidden-lair deduction
Read Sun Buqi’s notes and inspect the evidence before attempting the deduction. The chain depends on earlier conclusions: later evidence pairs may not be available until you have completed the deductions that come before them. If a pair cannot be selected, look for evidence you have not yet examined.
- Match the puppet’s half of the pendant with the half shown on the crane-and-lingzhi pendant.
- Connect the transformation of the three factions into puppets with the medicinal gourd. This identifies the hidden-lair puppet as a Silver Needle doctor.
- Connect that doctor’s identity with the bodies that show someone attempted to rescue them.
- Use the healer clue together with the reunited-pendant clue to identify the person who saved them.
These clues form a dependent sequence, so complete each preceding deduction before trying the later pairings.
Finish the encounter
Return the reunited pendant to the Sleeping Puppet, then destroy the remaining Dawn-to-Dusk blooms in the lower lair. Take Sun Buqi’s notes back to Zhai Xu to close the Encounter.

Both guides say completing the Encounter lifts Mistveil Forest’s poison fog. Gaming ProMax also reports that it unlocks the Ghost Master World Boss.

- Check that you picked up all three cure documents, not just cleared their locations.
- Open the Bag’s Quest section and read the Thousand-Wish Amendment.
- Verify that you handed all three cures to Zhai Xu.
- Advance two in-game days after the hand-in, then return to Wishing Cove.
- In the lair, inspect unread evidence if a deduction pair is unavailable.
