It processes the controller’s inputs so you can remap buttons, translate supported controllers across platforms, and run GamePacks or GPC scripts that automate input sequences. It is not a universal compatibility fix. PS5 use requires a separately sold module, the manufacturer says PC use is not officially supported, and whether it is allowed at all depends on the individual game.
What the Cronus Zen does
The Zen is an input adapter. Your controller plugs into the Zen, and the Zen plugs into the console or PC. Every button press and stick movement passes through the device before the host receives it. That position in the signal chain is what makes the Zen useful for remapping and automation, and it is also why publishers treat it as input modification hardware rather than an ordinary accessory.
Controller crossover and button remapping
Collective Minds markets the Zen for supported controller crossover and input customization. In practice, that means a controller designed for one platform can be used with another, and buttons can be reassigned, for example to move a function to a paddle or to change stick sensitivity curves. The manufacturer’s product page lists support for major consoles and most third-party licensed controllers, but support is qualified per platform and per controller, as covered below.
GamePacks and GPC scripts
GamePacks are prebuilt configurations, and the Zen also runs scripts written in GPC, the manufacturer’s scripting language. Scripts can produce timed sequences from a single button press or alter what a controller sends. Those are automation features: one physical input can generate many inputs in a fixed pattern. That capability is the main reason the device draws the attention of game publishers.

What the Zen does not do
The independent Cronus Zen Guide, which is unofficial and not published by Collective Minds, states that the device does not access the screen and does not alter game code or memory. That is a narrow technical distinction. It describes how the hardware works. It does not mean use is fair, permitted, undetectable, or safe in competitive games, and publishers judge input-modification devices by their behavior, not only by how they are built.
Platform setup: where the Zen works and what it needs
Platform status is the first thing to check, because the Zen is not supported the same way everywhere.
| Platform | Requirement | Manufacturer status | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| PS5 | The Zen LINK Wi-Fi expansion module, sold separately from the Zen | Supported native path only with Zen LINK. Without it, the controller disconnects. An unofficial bypass is explicitly unsupported. | Collective Minds PlayStation 5 guide |
| Windows PC | Disconnect the PROG USB cable before starting a game | Possible but not officially supported. Only licensed controllers designed for consoles are supported. | Collective Minds Windows PC guide |
| Other consoles | Per-platform guide for your exact console and controller | Not stated per platform in this article’s sources. The product page describes support for major consoles in general terms only. | Collective Minds product page |
PS5
The manufacturer’s PS5 guide says native PS5 support requires Zen LINK. The guide lists official DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers and indicates that haptics, adaptive triggers, touchpad, gyro, headset, speaker, and microphone functions are supported when Zen LINK is used. If you own a PS5 and a Zen but not Zen LINK, the setup will not work as the guide describes, and the guide labels the workaround as unsupported.
PC
On Windows, the manufacturer says the Zen can be used but is not officially supported. The key setup rule is to disconnect the PROG USB cable before you launch a game. Expect the guide’s limits on controllers to apply: only licensed controllers designed for consoles are supported, so do not assume that a generic or unlicensed pad will behave correctly.
Other consoles and controllers
The product page describes support for major console platforms, but the sources used for this article do not confirm every console and controller combination. Before buying for a specific setup, check the manufacturer’s current guide for that platform and controller rather than relying on a general list.
Is the Cronus Zen allowed in games?
There is no single answer. Permission is set by each game’s publisher, and a console recognizing the device or a retailer selling it does not mean a given game allows it. The two publisher positions below are the best-documented examples as of October 8, 2026, and neither should be generalized to other titles.

| Fortnite | Epic lists Cronus Zen among restricted hardware that gives an unfair competitive advantage, with examples including Cronus Max and similar devices that modify input or behavior | Epic tells players to remove the device and restart Fortnite. Its support page states: “Trying to bypass this restriction may result in a permanent ban from Fortnite.” | Epic Games restricted hardware support page |
| Call of Duty | In a February 2, 2026 RICOCHET announcement, Activision names Cronus Zen and XIM Matrix as unapproved third-party input modification devices. The post states: “These devices are not permitted in Call of Duty. They are cheating tools, even if they masquerade as accessibility devices.” | Activision’s Security and Enforcement Policy, dated July 31, 2026, lists temporary or permanent bans and hardware bans among possible penalties. Hardware bans apply to devices, can extend across Call of Duty titles, and are not eligible for appeal. | RICOCHET anti-cheat announcement; Activision Security and Enforcement Policy |

How Activision describes detection
According to the RICOCHET post, detection focuses on input timing, consistency, and response patterns rather than a single hardware signature. The enforcement policy adds that Activision uses client- and server-side detection and behavioral models. In other words, a player cannot assume that changing hardware or settings avoids detection, and the stated consequences for Call of Duty go beyond a single match.
Accessibility claims
Activision’s wording explicitly rejects the accessibility argument for this device category. Epic, separately, identifies approved accessibility devices as a distinct category, and it does not list the Cronus Zen as one. Readers who depend on adaptive hardware for accessibility reasons should check each publisher’s approved-device rules rather than assuming a general exemption.

Buying a Cronus Zen
The Collective Minds store lists the USB-C Cronus Zen at $109.99 USD. This is the direct-store price observed on the product page on October 8, 2026, and it can change, so confirm it on the live listing. The independent guide reports the model as CM00053-C and describes included cables and a 90-day base warranty; those details come from that unofficial source, so verify them on the manufacturer’s listing before you buy.
- PS5 buyers: budget for Zen LINK in addition to the Zen itself. The Zen alone does not provide the supported native PS5 path.
- PC buyers: confirm that your controller is a licensed console-designed model, and plan for the PROG cable disconnection step.
- Competitive players: check the enforcement policy of the specific game first. Fortnite and Call of Duty both treat the device as restricted or prohibited.
Bottom line for buyers
The Cronus Zen is a legitimate input-processing adapter for remapping and scripted input on supported setups, and its official support depends heavily on platform. Before you buy, confirm your console and controller combination, the Zen LINK requirement if you use PS5, and the rules of each game you plan to play online. Publisher policies, prices, and firmware requirements change, so treat the details above as correct as of October 8, 2026 and verify them before relying on them.
