Reckoning, the round-based Zombies map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, launched on August 7, 2025 at 9AM PST with the start of Season 05. Its guided companion, Reckoning Directed Mode, followed on September 4, 2025 at 9AM PT with Season 05 Reloaded. Both dates are in the past, so this is a release history rather than an upcoming-map schedule.
Two dates: the map and Directed Mode
Readers searching for when the new Black Ops 6 Zombies map arrives are usually asking about one of two releases. The base map and the later Directed Mode update are separate events, and the official Call of Duty posts date them differently.

The two announcements label the time zone differently. The July post says “PST,” while the September post says “PT.” Both refer to Pacific Time, but if you convert the 9AM start to your own clock, check the daylight-saving status for that date in your region rather than assuming the offset.
Where the map is set
Reckoning takes place at Project Janus Headquarters, the Janus Towers, which loom over the once-sleepy settlement of Liberty Falls. According to the Season 05 announcement, the towers are in critical condition, and stabilizing their Aether Reactors is the initial objective for players. The official Blizzard repost of the Season 05 intel describes the same setup. The announcement also calls Reckoning the last chapter of the Black Ops 6 Zombies narrative.

What Directed Mode adds
Directed Mode is a guided option for the Main Quest. According to the September 2, 2025 Season 05 Reloaded post, it adds guided Main Quest progress and caps play at Round 15. That cap is part of the mode’s design, so it is not a general limit on the map.
The same post lists the mode’s new enemies: Uber Klaus, automated robots, undead Project Janus security personnel, scientists, hazmat crews, and other mutations. It names the Gorgofex as the map’s Wonder Weapon and describes the C.A.S.T.E.R. Turret as an upgradeable trap.

Do you need Black Ops 6 to play?
Yes. Reckoning is part of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The Season 05 announcement points players to the game’s store page through a “Get Black Ops 6” option, and no separate, standalone Reckoning product was listed.
Is Reckoning still new?
No. As of October 2026, both release dates are more than a year old. The official Season 05 and Season 05 Reloaded posts remain the primary references for the launch timing, the season context, and the Directed Mode details listed above.

The title’s original wording uses the present tense. For a reader arriving now, “did Reckoning come out, and when” is the more accurate question.
