The grab change is limited to those two difficulties; the report confirms the update is available on PS5 but does not establish PC rollout timing.
What update 1.4 changes about The Weight
Push Square reports three behavior changes for The Weight. The grab attack that previously caused instant death on Story and Normal now deals heavy damage. Its searching behavior was adjusted to reduce long periods spent camping in front of an objective or repeatedly searching the same location, and its hunting behavior was adjusted to reduce aggressive tracking.
The report does not specify measured AI parameters or quantify how much easier encounters become. “Worst enemy” is headline framing, not an objective ranking of the game’s threats.
The grab change applies to Story and Normal
The instant-death-to-heavy-damage change is reported for Story and Normal only. It should not be assumed to apply on Nightmare difficulty; the report does not describe a corresponding Nightmare change.

- Experienced entirely in first person, explore, evade, and survive using a limited set of weapons and tools, including a pocket television used to tune into unstable signals. Evasion is tense; combat is frenetic, while narrative driven puzzles reveal a truth that refuses to stay submerged.
- SILENT HILL: Townfall is a full-length, self-contained psychological horror set against the cold, isolated backdrop of Scotland, 1996
Search and pursuit behavior also change
The search adjustment targets extended camping near objectives and repeated searches of the same location. The hunting adjustment targets aggressive tracking. These are qualitative descriptions, not a guarantee that The Weight will stop pursuing or searching for the player.
What changes in the late valve puzzle
The late-game puzzle still asks players to press the correct buttons in sequence to activate valves. Update 1.4 adds a collectible manual near the puzzle that explains what the buttons mean; according to Push Square’s report, players can view it while using the panel. The addition provides an in-game reference rather than removing the sequence puzzle.

Where update 1.4 is confirmed available
Push Square reports that update 1.4 is available on PS5. Silent Hill: Townfall is listed for PlayStation 5 and PC, but the report does not confirm whether or when the update is available on PC, or whether PC and PS5 have identical patch content. Push Square links to the official Steam News Hub update 1.4 notes, but those notes were not readable in the reporting available for this account, so the details here follow Push Square’s summary rather than an independent reading of the patch text.
