To open a Lost Rites Spellseal Door, you need the Empowered Godsbane Blade, which comes from the main story quest A New Godsway. If a door’s item menu rejects everything in your inventory, the cave does not hold a hidden key. The door is waiting on story progress, so return once you have the blade.
Why the door won’t open
Some ruins in Lost Rites contain optional Spellseal Doors. If you reach one early and interact with it, the game opens an item menu with no eligible items. That response means the door belongs to a later stage of the main story. Searching the ruin again for a key will not change the result.

Starting the Lost Rites quest
- Go to the Stardrop Inn and speak with Captain Brant.
- Select the dialogue option “About the uncovered ruins…” to receive the Lost Rites quest.
- Open your inventory and use the Proving Ground Compass. It marks the newly added challenge areas on your map.
Unlocking the doors through the main story
The door solution is a story gate, and the route runs through two main quest lines.
- Follow the Vermund and Battahl main quests.
- Complete A New Godsway. It rewards the Empowered Godsbane Blade, which opens Spellseal Doors, including the Dark Arisen additions.
- Go back to any door that rejected your items earlier and interact with it again.
The method above comes from a single VGC walkthrough dated October 8, 2026, which is the most detailed step-by-step guidance currently available for this door. Quest order or door behavior could change with a later patch, so check the walkthrough if a step no longer matches what you see in game. VGC’s Dark Arisen Spellseal Door guide covers the full sequence.

Troubleshooting
- The door still rejects every item. You have not yet completed A New Godsway. Check your main story progress rather than searching the cave.
- You have the blade but cannot find the door. Use the Proving Ground Compass to locate the Lost Rites challenge areas, then revisit ruins you passed earlier.
- You are unsure which ruin holds a door. Doors that stopped you earlier are the ones to revisit; no separate key or item is needed for them.
What the Dark Arisen listing confirms
The PlayStation Store listing for Dark Arisen identifies it as a PS5 expansion that cannot be used without Dragon’s Dogma 2. The listing describes Lost Rites as 12 dungeon challenges and gives October 9, 2026 as the release date. Confirm availability on the store page before purchase.
The listing does not provide a door-by-door reward list, so this guide does not attach specific rewards to individual doors. The Empowered Godsbane Blade is the only door-opening item covered here.
