What can be established is the trailer’s official title, what Square Enix says the game covers, and the launch and service facts that surround it. This article separates those verified points from the things readers often assume.
Which trailer is being discussed
Two official Square Enix videos are easy to confuse. Keep them separate when you cite or search for them.
| Video title as listed | Where it appears | Date | What the available listing shows |
|---|---|---|---|
| FINAL FANTASY VII EVER CRISIS | Final Trailer | Square Enix’s official FINAL FANTASY portal site, Videos section | Not stated in the listing | The title only. No synopsis and no scene breakdown were visible in the listing. |
| FINAL FANTASY VII EVER CRISIS | Countdown to Launch Trailer | Square Enix’s official YouTube channel | Published August 30, 2023 | A full official description covering story framing, launch date, platforms, pricing model, and modes. |
Nothing retrieved confirms that these are the same video. Until you have watched the Final Trailer itself and compared it with the Countdown to Launch Trailer, treat them as two different assets.
What Square Enix says the game covers
The Countdown to Launch Trailer description, published by Square Enix on August 30, 2023, positions Ever Crisis as an installment in the FINAL FANTASY VII RPG series. According to that description, players can revisit memorable moments from Final Fantasy VII and follow the journey of a young Sephiroth. It also says the game mixes classic and new stories set in the Final Fantasy VII universe.

#1 Best Overall
- A Square Enix import
- Figure stands 10 5/8" tall
- Updated face sculpt based on the in-game 3D model
- Buster Sword features weathered look
- Display stand included
The same description frames the visuals as retro-style presentation combined with modern graphics. That is launch-era marketing language. It does not establish that every element appears in the separate Final Trailer, and it should not be read as a list of scenes.
Launch facts and how the game is played
Square Enix’s launch announcement and the Countdown to Launch Trailer description both give the following details, as published at the time:

Where the game fits in the Final Fantasy VII timeline
Square Enix’s official Final Fantasy VII franchise page describes Ever Crisis as a reimagining of the Final Fantasy VII timeline. The same page identifies CRISIS CORE – FINAL FANTASY VII– REUNION as a prequel centered on Zack Fair.

That places Crisis Core – Reunion in the wider franchise, but the franchise page does not say that Crisis Core – Reunion is the source of any scene in the Final Trailer. Treat it as background for understanding the timeline, not as evidence about the trailer’s contents.
Service status as of October 2026
A PC Gamer report dated July 8, 2026 said Square Enix had announced that Ever Crisis service would end on October 6, 2026, and that Red Crystal sales had already stopped. The original Square Enix notice was not among the sources available for this article, so the report is the only available account of that announcement.

Today is October 9, 2026, which means the scheduled end date has already passed. The available sources do not confirm whether service actually closed on that date, or whether players can still reach the story content after shutdown. Check Square Enix’s official notice and the game’s current status before relying on any statement about access.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to check the trailer contents yourself
- Open Square Enix’s official FINAL FANTASY portal site and go to the Videos section.
- Locate the entry labeled “FINAL FANTASY VII EVER CRISIS | Final Trailer” and open it.
- Note the upload date, if one is shown, and any official description.
- Compare the Final Trailer with the Countdown to Launch Trailer on Square Enix’s YouTube channel, checking whether the two titles lead to different videos.
- Match any character or scene you identify against the official description before attributing it to Ever Crisis.
Scene identification from video alone can be unreliable, especially when a trailer draws on earlier Final Fantasy VII material. Reader-submitted lists of “every character in the trailer” should be checked against the footage before being repeated.
