Xbox’s Free Play Days event runs from Thursday, October 8 through Sunday, October 11, 2026, and features seven games. The “100% free” label in the headline overstates the offer. Only one title, ARC Raiders, is open to all Xbox members without a membership requirement. Two games need an Xbox Game Pass membership, and four are timed trials. Xbox Wire’s announcement does not give an exact end time or time zone for the event.
What Xbox announced
Xbox Wire published the lineup on October 8, 2026. It names Screamer, Family Man, ARC Raiders, High On Life 2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, Little Nightmares III, and Rogue Waters. TrueAchievements independently lists the same seven titles and the October 11 end date, which confirms the list. For eligibility and trial details, the Xbox Wire post is the authoritative source.

The three access levels
The “100% free” headline blends three different offers. Each one works differently, so check the category before you install.
All Xbox members: ARC Raiders
ARC Raiders is the only title Xbox describes as free for all members to try. Xbox’s wording is “free for all XBOX members to try from October 8 until October 11 (XBOX Game Pass Game Pass Ultimate, Premium and Essential membership not required).” The duplicated “Game Pass” appears in the original text. ARC Raiders is also the only title in the lineup with a discount that carries a date: 50% off through October 15.

Game Pass membership required: Screamer and Family Man
Xbox places Screamer and Family Man under its “Game Pass Membership Required” heading. Readers without a qualifying membership cannot access these two games through the event. Xbox does not specify which membership tiers qualify for each title in the announcement. Sign-in is needed to see membership-based install options.
Timed trials for all players: four titles
High On Life 2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, Little Nightmares III, and Rogue Waters are timed trials open to all Xbox players. Rogue Waters is the only trial with a stated length, which is two hours. For the other three, the announcement does not give a duration, so plan on checking the game’s Xbox.com page or the in-game timer once you start.

How to install during the event
Xbox gives two routes. Choose whichever suits your device.
- On a PC or browser, open the individual game’s page on Xbox.com and install from there.
- On Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, open the Microsoft Store and select the Subscriptions tab, then browse the Free Play Days collection.
- Sign in to your Xbox account. Membership-based install options, such as Screamer and Family Man, appear only after sign-in.
Purchasing after a trial
Xbox says readers can buy some of the games at limited-time discounts and keep their Gamerscore and achievements. The announcement warns that “discounts, percentages, and title availability may vary by title and region.” The prices in the table are the offers Xbox lists, not a guarantee that every reader will see them. Confirm the current price for your region in the Xbox or Microsoft Store before you buy.

What the headline gets wrong
Two parts of the headline do not match Xbox’s announcement. The first is “100% free.” Only ARC Raiders is open to every member without a membership requirement. Screamer and Family Man require Game Pass, and the other four are timed trials rather than permanent access.
The second is “2025’s Best Multiplayer Game.” Xbox’s announcement does not mention an award, and no award body or category behind that phrase is named in the material available for this article. Treat the claim as unverified. A game’s popularity or marketing copy does not establish an award.
