No retrieved source confirms a game-stopping Monster Hunter Wilds bug triggered by an NPC. The closest documented report is a separate crash issue Capcom acknowledged in August 2025: under certain conditions, players could crash after fainting and returning to camp during Fast Travel or a quest. Capcom reportedly planned a patch, but the available report does not establish whether it shipped or whether the issue is still present.
Is an NPC-triggered, game-stopping bug confirmed?
Not by the available reporting. GameSpot’s August 13, 2025 article describes a crash Capcom acknowledged, but it does not connect that crash to an NPC. The headline’s NPC attribution therefore is not established by this evidence. GameSpot’s report quotes Capcom’s Monster Hunter Status account: “We are currently working on this issue and will provide further updates when we have them.”

What crash did Capcom acknowledge?
GameSpot reported that the crash could occur after a player fainted and returned to camp during Fast Travel or a quest, under certain conditions. The report said the issue had been reported on all platforms; it did not give crash rates, affected-player counts, or further details identifying the conditions.
Was a fix released, and is the bug still live?
The August 2025 report said Capcom planned to address the crash in patch Ver.1.021.01.00 once the fix was complete. That is a planned version, not confirmation of a release. The report does not establish whether the patch shipped, which version currently contains a fix, or whether the crash remains reproducible as of October 9, 2026. It also does not document a fix for an NPC-triggered bug.

For a Monster Hunter Wilds technical question, Capcom’s support portal routes players to the dedicated Wilds support channel. Capcom’s pinned troubleshooting and issue-reporting thread asks players to try its troubleshooting steps before reporting a problem; it does not confirm this particular crash or an NPC trigger.
