The sources available for this article do not show that these mods or those steps work with the current Among Us release, so treat the list as a historical snapshot.
The original DualShockers roundup did not load when this article was prepared, so the five titles come from secondary reproductions of it. One reproduction says its list is in no particular order, so the sequence below should not be read as a ranking.
Which five mods the 2021 roundup named
The five titles below come from a Spanish syndicated reproduction of the roundup. Because the original page could not be checked, confirm the exact list against the original before quoting it as definitive.
What each mod changes
Sheriff Mod
Sheriff adds a Sheriff role to the crewmates. The Sheriff can try to shoot an impostor. Shooting a crewmate instead causes the Sheriff to lose their life, so a wrong shot is a fatal mistake for the Sheriff.

Town of Us
Town of Us is the broadest of the five. It adds a role system with crewmate, neutral, and impostor roles, along with modifiers. The reproduced article lists examples including Mayor, Engineer, Sheriff, Jester, Arsonist, Morphling, and Miner. Those names reflect the 2021 description only. Role names and the full inventory may have changed since then, so check the project’s own documentation before relying on any role list.
Extra Roles
Extra Roles adds roles described as Medic, Officer, Engineer, and Joker.

Love Couple
The Spanish reproduction describes Love Couple as a mode with a win condition based on randomly paired players. It changes how a round is won rather than adding a single role.
BetterCrewLink Proximity Chat
This mod changes voice communication. Voice chat is audible based on player proximity, so players hear others according to how close they are in the game.

How the 2021 guide said to install them
The reproduced guide describes a PC/Steam workflow. The point of the method is to work in a separate copy of the game folder, so the original installation is not changed. Menu labels may differ between Steam versions, so match the wording to what your Steam client shows.

- Open Steam, go to your Library, right-click Among Us, choose Manage, then choose Browse local files. This opens the game’s installation directory.
- Copy the entire game folder to a new location on your drive.
- Place the mod files into the copied folder.
- Launch the game’s executable from inside the copied folder, not from the original installation.
The reproduced guide is the only source for these steps. It does not establish which mod file goes where for each of the five titles, so follow each mod’s own installation notes where they exist.

CurseForge’s AU Mods Guide project describes software for installing mods and adding custom hats and skins. Its listing includes the game version 2021.5.10s and states that the project was last updated on July 28, 2021. The download counter on the page read 2,233 when checked in 2026. That figure is the page’s current counter, not a measure of how many people used the tool in 2021.

What is and is not established today
- Established: the five titles and their core effects as described in 2021 reproductions of the roundup; the PC/Steam copy-folder workflow the guide recommended; the 2021 version tags and July 28, 2021 update date on the CurseForge tool listing.
- Not established: whether any of these mods work with the current Among Us release; whether every player in a lobby needs the same mod setup; which download locations are current and safe; whether the mod projects are still maintained.
Before installing any of these, check the mod’s own project page for the game version it supports. The roundup cannot answer that question for you.
