The event is a qualifier for the Mario Kart World Fall Cup 2026, which has additional territory and age requirements.
When does the Mario Kart World Open start and end?
The event runs from October 17, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Pacific Time, through October 18 at 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time. That is a weekend event window, not a one-day competition. Nintendo’s October 8 announcement and the official event listing give the schedule.
How do I enter the October 2026 event?
- Open Mario Kart World and select Online Play.
- Press the minus button to search for an event.
- Enter event ID 4450 and join during the event window.
Playing in this event is the stated entry method. Nintendo identifies it as a qualifier for the Mario Kart World Fall Cup 2026, scheduled for December. Consult the official Fall Cup rules for the full tournament terms.

- A Nintendo Switch Online membership, sold separately. Nintendo’s announcement mentions a free seven-day trial subject to terms and availability; it does not establish that every account qualifies.
If you already have the required system, game, and membership, you do not need to buy them again for this event. Nintendo listed Mario Kart World at a regular price of $79.99 in its 2026 announcement; that figure is not a verified current marketplace price.
Who can qualify for the Fall Cup?
Joining the online event and qualifying for the Fall Cup are not the same thing. Under the Fall Cup rules, eligible participants must legally reside in the United States (including Washington, D.C.), Canada, or Mexico and be in one of those territories while participating. The minimum age is 13 in the United States and Canada, and 18 in Mexico. The rules also require a consistent, reliable high-speed internet connection.

Nintendo’s announcement describes participation points for players in North and South American regions, but that wording does not broaden Fall Cup eligibility beyond the official rules.

Eligible participants from the North and South American regions can receive 50 My Nintendo Platinum Points for taking part. Nintendo says the points should be ready to claim on the Missions page on or about October 27, 2026, Pacific Time. These are participation points, not the Fall Cup championship prize.
