Although many people still call them “Bing games,” the official site is now branded Microsoft Casual Games – The Zone and remains hosted at zone.msn.com. These are nine of the best games to start with, including what makes each one different and where its current rules or features may surprise you.
How to find the free MSN games
Open the Microsoft Casual Games categories page, choose Free Online, then select All Games. From there, you can search by name, use the Sort by: Popular control, and select Play Now beside a game.
The site’s current navigation includes Home, Free Online, and Casino. Its game categories include All Games, Microsoft, Puzzle, Word, Arcade, Casino, Card, Multiplayer, Match, Strategy, Mahjong, Solitaire, and Brain.
Microsoft says the games run in a desktop or mobile browser with no downloads and no sign-ups. Each game page also provides How to Play and About controls, so you can check the specific rules before starting.

1. Microsoft Solitaire Collection
Microsoft Solitaire Collection is the strongest all-purpose choice if you want familiar card games rather than a single repetitive mode. The collection contains five variants:
- Klondike: the standard solitaire variant.
- Spider: clear eight columns.
- Freecell: use four extra cells to move cards.
- Pyramid: pair cards whose values total 13.
- TriPeaks: select cards in sequence, either up or down.
The collection also includes Daily Challenges. To launch it from the portal, go to Free Online → All Games → Microsoft Solitaire Collection → Play Now. Its variety makes it a good first stop for both casual players and anyone who wants a different puzzle each day.
2. Microsoft Jewel
Microsoft Jewel is a match-three puzzle game, but its current version does not behave like a conventional cascading match-three game. Match three jewels of the same type to create Bonus Jewels. Those Bonus Jewels can then be used anywhere on the board to form larger matches and clear spaces more quickly.
The crucial rule is that jewels will not fall to fill the board after matches. There is no automatic cascade replacing cleared pieces, so each move has to be planned around the fixed layout. That makes Microsoft Jewel more deliberate than a typical falling-gem game. The page describes this as a new or all-new version, so older guides may not describe the current board behavior accurately.

Text Twist 2 challenges you to rearrange a set of letters into words. To advance, you need to find a six-letter word. You can place letter balls into the solution slots by clicking them with a mouse or by typing the letters on a keyboard.

There are two ways to play: Timed and Untimed. Choose Timed if you enjoy pressure and quick word recognition; choose Untimed if you want to work through the letters at your own pace. The Untimed option is particularly important because older descriptions sometimes present Text Twist 2 as a timed-only game.
4. Microsoft Mahjong
Microsoft Mahjong is the traditional tile-matching option in the lineup. The current version has a new look and feel, over 40 puzzles, and four levels of difficulty.
It also includes Daily Challenges with special modes such as Golden Tiles. The game page says you can compete with friends and track your personal statistics, giving the familiar matching format more long-term structure than a one-off puzzle.
Find it through Free Online → All Games → Microsoft Mahjong → Play Now, or browse the Mahjong category. This is separate from Mahjongg Dimensions: Microsoft Mahjong uses the more recognizable tile-pairing format, while Mahjongg Dimensions places tiles on a 3D cube.
5. Texas Hold’em
Texas Hold’em is the portal’s poker practice game. It includes instructions, a poker hands chart, and AI opponents. The game is free to play and intended for practice, with no real-money risk.

Each player receives two private cards. Five community cards are then revealed in three stages:
- Flop: three community cards.
- Turn: one additional community card.
- River: the final community card.

6. Just Words
Just Words is a competitive word-board game built around a small starting rack. Each game begins by selecting six letters at random. Every play must cross one of the words already on the board, so successful moves depend on both vocabulary and finding useful intersections.
Letter values differ, with uncommon letters such as X and Z worth more. Before starting, select the computer opponent’s difficulty. That choice lets you make the game more relaxed for casual play or more competitive when you want a tougher word challenge.
The current address is /en/games/just-words; the older /en/games/justwords address redirects to it.

7. Bubble Town
Bubble Town is a bubble-shooter-style arcade puzzle. Aim the cannon and fire Borbs to create groups of three or more matching Borbs. Bank shots off the sides of the play area to reach difficult angles and potentially earn extra points.
The goal is to clear all the Borbs before they reach the yellow danger zone. It is a good choice when you want a short, aim-and-fire game rather than a card or word puzzle.
Loading caveat: the currently retrieved page may show a Spinner image without exposing the full interactive instructions. That suggests the game frame may still be loading or may be blocked by the browser environment. If the page does not progress beyond the spinner, try another game in the portal rather than assuming the rules have been removed.

Family Feud is the official online version based on the television game show. Each question has multiple possible answers, and answers chosen most frequently by survey respondents earn the most points. In other words, the best answer is not necessarily the most technically correct one—it is the answer most people gave.
Each game begins with three timed rounds. The page also says that new questions and answers are added regularly, making it a better repeat-play option than a fixed trivia quiz. The older /en/games/familyfeud address redirects to the current /en/games/family-feud page.

9. Mahjongg Dimensions
Mahjongg Dimensions turns tile matching into a timed 3D puzzle. A tile can be matched only when it has two adjacent sides free. Hovering over a partially blocked tile previews its symbol, which helps you identify potential matches before committing to a move.
The cube can be rotated by clicking the arrows on either side of it or by using the keyboard’s arrow keys. If you reach a stuck position, the current game explicitly provides a Reshuffle button. The game is timed, and faster completion produces more points, so the central trade-off is between scanning carefully and moving quickly.
What older MSN or Bing games guides often get wrong
The name “Bing Games” remains common in searches, but it is not the current official on-page branding. The live portal heading is Microsoft Casual Games – The Zone, while the host remains zone.msn.com. The current category page also says that browser play requires no sign-up, so the claim that every game requires a Microsoft account is not supported by the current portal.
Several game instructions have also changed:
- Microsoft Jewel does not use the standard falling-and-refilling board behavior; matched jewels do not fall to fill empty spaces.
- Text Twist 2 offers both Timed and Untimed modes, not only timed play.
- Mahjongg Dimensions supports keyboard arrow keys as well as its on-screen rotation controls.
- If an older list includes Microsoft Jigsaw, its current instructions list Easy, Normal, Hard, or Advanced, not just three difficulty levels. Its current controls are labeled Rotate and Start. See the Microsoft Jigsaw game page or its current instructions page.
