There is no universal Easy Anti-Cheat fix. Most launch failures come from a damaged, game-specific EAC installation, corrupted game files, blocked network access, or incompatible background software. Start by restarting Windows and launching the game through its official launcher, then repair EAC from that game’s installation folder and verify its files.
The correct fix depends on whether one game fails or several. A problem affecting only one title usually points to that game’s files, launcher, or EAC configuration. If several unrelated EAC games fail, investigate the Windows service, security software, Windows components, and system-wide conflicts.
Before you start
- Write down the exact error message or code.
- Note the game and launcher: Steam, Epic Games Launcher, EA App, Ubisoft Connect, or another official client.
- Check whether one EAC game fails or every EAC game fails.
- Confirm that the game officially supports your version of Windows or your platform.
- Do not download EAC files from unofficial websites or use guessed installation commands.
If non-EAC games are also failing, the cause may be broader Windows, graphics-driver, storage, or hardware instability rather than EAC itself.
Try these fixes first
- Exit the game and launcher, then restart Windows. This clears stuck game and EAC processes and is particularly important for errors such as 30005.
- Launch the game from its official launcher rather than an old custom shortcut.
- Temporarily disconnect a VPN or proxy for testing.
- Install pending game and Windows updates.
- If the launcher shows the game as running but no window appears, continue with EAC repair and file verification.
Repair Easy Anti-Cheat from the game folder
EAC is normally installed and configured as part of an individual game. It is not one standalone application that can be repaired identically for every title.

General repair procedure
- Open the game’s official launcher.
- Open the installation folder. In Epic Games Launcher, go to Library, select the three dots beside the game, choose Manage, then Open Install Location. In Steam, go to Library, right-click the game, choose Manage, and select Browse local files. Other launchers use similar Locate files, Repair, or Open installation folder options.
- Look for a folder named
EasyAntiCheat,EasyAntiCheat_EOS, orEasyAntiCheatSetup. - Run the setup executable. Approve the administrator prompt if Windows requests it.
- Choose Repair Service, Repair, or the game-specific installation option shown by the tool.
- Restart Windows and launch the game through its official launcher.
EA’s official EAC troubleshooting guide also directs players to the bundled setup executable and its Repair Service option.
For games using EAC EOS
If the folder contains EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe, click the File Explorer address bar, type the executable name followed by repair, and press Enter:
EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe repairThis command applies only when that executable is present. It is not a universal command for every EAC game. Approve the administrator prompt, restart Windows, and test the game.

Fortnite-specific fallback
Fortnite’s documented path is:
FortniteGameBinariesWin64EasyAntiCheatEpic’s procedure uses a shortcut to the EAC executable. Create the shortcut, open its properties, append repair to the Target field with a space before the word, apply the change, run the shortcut, and approve the repair. This is a Fortnite-specific example; other games may use different folders and executables. Follow Epic’s Fortnite instructions.
Do not uninstall EAC as a first step. Removing it can remove the service required by the game. Consider uninstalling only if the publisher specifically instructs you, repair fails, or the installation is visibly damaged—and reinstall it immediately using the game’s official files or launcher. Never guess a command such as install <product ID>; product IDs are game-specific.
Verify the game files
Steam
Open:
Steam Library → right-click the game → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files
Steam compares the local installation with its server copy and redownloads missing or damaged files. Labels can vary slightly between Steam versions.

Epic Games Launcher
Open the game’s three-dot menu, choose Manage, and select Verify where available. Other launchers provide equivalent Repair, Verify, or Scan and repair controls.
Verification is preferable to a full reinstall. Check the game’s save-location policy before deleting files or reinstalling, particularly if saves are not synchronized through cloud storage.
Check EAC connectivity
Open both official EAC endpoints in a browser:
https://download.eac-cdn.com/
https://download-alt.easyanticheat.net/Epic says a working result should show 200 - HTTP OK. If neither address works, check Windows Firewall, third-party antivirus or endpoint security, router filtering, DNS, VPN or proxy software, and managed networks such as school, workplace, hotel, or parental-control connections.
If one or both endpoints work, basic EAC CDN connectivity is less likely to be the problem. That does not prove that the game’s servers, account, or launcher are working. See Epic’s general EAC troubleshooting sequence.
Check antivirus and firewall blocks
- Update your security software.
- Review its quarantine and blocked-application history for the game or EAC executable.
- Allow the affected game and its EAC executable through the product’s application controls if supported.
- Only if necessary, briefly pause real-time protection to test whether it is the cause.
- Re-enable protection immediately after testing.
- Remove any temporary exclusion that did not solve the problem.
A temporary, narrowly scoped exclusion for the affected game folder can be a diagnostic step, but it reduces protection and should not be the default fix. Never exclude the entire C: drive, all executable files, or a complete library without a specific reason. Epic documents exclusions for some Fortnite problems; its guidance should not be generalized to every game.
Close software that may conflict with EAC
Anti-cheat checks can conflict with software that injects overlays, monitors hardware, changes input, hooks graphics, or filters network traffic. This does not mean every overlay or utility is malicious.
Close these temporarily and test again:
- RGB and peripheral-control utilities
- Hardware monitoring, overclocking, and fan-control tools
- Macro and key-remapping software
- Third-party overlays
- Recording and capture tools
- Debuggers, injectors, and reverse-engineering tools
- Other launchers or game clients
- VPNs, proxies, and network-filtering utilities
- Aggressive antivirus or anti-malware products
For Game Security Violation Detected, open Task Manager, end the process named in the message, and relaunch. The named program may be legitimate but incompatible or outdated. Epic’s procedure is described here.
Update Windows, drivers, and Visual C++
Install all available Windows updates and update the graphics driver through the GPU manufacturer’s official software or website. Also install the supported Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015–2022. Avoid third-party DLL-fixer sites and individual DLL downloads.

Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025, according to Microsoft Support. Whether a particular game continues to run depends on its publisher and anti-cheat configuration, so check the game’s stated operating-system requirements before applying platform-specific fixes.
Repair Windows system files with DISM and SFC
These tools do not specifically repair EAC. They repair Windows components that may prevent EAC or its installer from working.
- Open Windows Terminal or Command Prompt as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealthWait for DISM to finish. Then run:
sfc /scannowAllow SFC to reach 100 percent, restart Windows, and test the game. Microsoft recommends DISM before SFC because DISM can repair the component store used by SFC. See Microsoft’s system-file repair instructions.
- No integrity violations: SFC found no protected-file corruption.
- Corrupt files repaired: Restart and retest.
- SFC could not perform the requested operation: Retry in Safe Mode or follow Microsoft’s additional guidance.
- DISM fails: Check Windows Update, free storage, and the exact error before attempting advanced repairs.
Use a clean boot to find conflicts
If the problem continues, a clean boot can show whether a third-party service or startup program is interfering.

- Search Start for
msconfigand open System Configuration. - Open the Services tab.
- Select Hide all Microsoft services, then select Disable all.
- Open the Startup tab and select Open Task Manager.
- Disable enabled startup items.
- Restart and test the game.
- If it works, re-enable services and startup items gradually until you identify the conflict.
- Return Windows to normal startup afterward.
Clean booting temporarily disables functionality. Microsoft’s current procedure is available in its clean-boot guide.

Steam Deck, Linux, and macOS
EAC’s product site lists Windows, macOS, Linux, and Steam Deck support, but support is determined by each game’s implementation and launcher. Windows repair commands do not necessarily fix a Linux or Steam Deck configuration. Confirm the game’s official platform and Steam Play/Proton support before applying desktop Windows steps. Steam also notes that unsupported Proton combinations and interfering software can prevent a game from launching; consult its general launch troubleshooting when applicable.
When to reinstall
Reinstall the individual game only after repairing EAC, verifying files, checking connectivity, and testing for software conflicts. Use the launcher’s official uninstall and install process, and protect local saves first.

Reinstalling Windows is not a normal EAC fix. Reserve it for serious, wider system corruption after DISM, SFC, clean-boot testing, and other publisher or Microsoft-supported recovery options have failed.
When to contact the game publisher
Contact the publisher when only one title fails after repair and verification, when the game reports a game-specific error, or when you suspect an account action. Provide:
- Exact error text and code
- Game name and launcher
- Windows edition and build
- Recent game, Windows, driver, or security-software changes
- Whether other EAC games launch
- Results of EAC repair and file verification
- Logs, if the publisher requests them
A launch failure is not the same as a ban. Do not use modified executables, bypasses, alternate accounts, or anti-cheat circumvention. For ban concerns, use the relevant publisher’s appeal process; EAC directs players to the publisher for those decisions.

No. Error 30005 is generally a service-start or initialization failure and can result from stuck processes, damaged files, or software conflicts. A publisher, not the error code alone, determines account action.
Should I disable Secure Boot or Windows Security?
Do not disable security features permanently. Check for blocks, use narrowly scoped temporary testing only when necessary, and restore protection immediately.
Does reinstalling a game always reinstall EAC?
Often the game’s bundled installer restores EAC, but behavior varies by title and launcher. Repair the bundled installation first and follow the publisher’s instructions.
