Yes—but only some Netflix members can play games on a TV. As of August 2026, Netflix TV gaming is still a beta experience available in selected countries and on selected TVs and streaming devices. The Netflix app runs the game on the television, while a phone or tablet acts as the controller. You do not need a console, and Netflix does not charge a separate game fee, but you do need an active membership, a compatible device, and a supported TV-playable game.
How Netflix TV gaming works
Netflix has expanded beyond games downloaded to phones and tablets. On compatible televisions and streaming devices, selected games can now be launched directly inside the Netflix app. The TV displays the game, while each player uses a phone or tablet to control it by scanning a QR code shown on the screen.
Netflix describes the feature as a beta, so availability, supported devices, and the catalogue can change. A game appearing in Netflix’s mobile Games area does not necessarily mean it can be played on a TV. On the television, look for a Play Game button; that is the useful indicator that a title supports TV play.
Netflix’s original 2023 rollout mentioned devices including Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast with Google TV, LG TVs, Nvidia Shield TV, Roku devices and TVs, Samsung Smart TVs, Xfinity 4K devices, and Xumo devices and TVs. That list is historical rollout context, not a guarantee that every current model supports games.

Where is Netflix TV gaming available?
Netflix’s current help documentation lists TV gaming in these countries:
- Australia
- Austria
- Belgium
- Brazil
- Canada
- Finland
- France
- Germany
- Ireland
- Italy
- Mexico
- The Netherlands
- New Zealand
- Poland
- South Africa
- Spain
- Sweden
- Switzerland
- The United Kingdom
- The United States
Netflix says more countries may be added. Country availability is only one condition: the account’s beta access, the TV or streaming-device model, and the individual game also matter. This list and the feature status should be treated as current as of August 2026.
Netflix’s TV and browser games help page contains the current availability and requirements.
What you need to play
- An active Netflix membership.
- The Netflix app on a compatible TV or streaming device.
- A stable internet connection. Netflix recommends download speeds of at least 10 Mbps.
- One phone or tablet for each player.
- A game that supports TV play.
Netflix says games are included with membership and contain no additional game fees, advertisements, or in-app purchases. That does not make the service entirely free: the Netflix subscription itself still has a recurring cost. In the United States, Netflix’s signup page displayed plans from $8.99 to $26.99 per month before tax when checked in August 2026. Prices and plan availability vary by country and can change, so verify the current figures on Netflix’s signup page.

Do you need a console or physical controller?
No console is required when the TV or streaming device supports Netflix games. However, Netflix says physical gamepads and other controllers are not currently supported. The phone or tablet is the intended input device.

The television displays the game, Netflix delivers the experience, and the phone supplies the controls. It can be convenient for casual or party games, but phone controls may be less comfortable for precision-heavy or competitive games, and responsiveness can depend on the network and device.
Which games work on a TV?
The TV catalogue is separate from Netflix’s full mobile catalogue. Netflix’s TV-and-browser games page specifically distinguishes TV-playable titles from mobile-only games. Examples Netflix has promoted include:
- LEGO Party!
- Pictionary: Game Night
- Boggle Party
- Tetris Time Warp
- Party Crashers: Fool Your Friends
- FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition
These examples are not a permanent catalogue. Availability can vary by country, device, and Netflix’s current game lineup. Use the Games section on your TV as the final authority. Party titles are the clearest fit for Netflix’s current TV approach: several people can gather around one screen, with each player using a phone.
Multiplayer limits are title-specific. Netflix has described Boggle Party as supporting up to eight players, but that number should not be generalized to every TV game. Each player generally needs a separate phone or tablet. A friend joining a TV or browser game may not need their own Netflix membership, although the host must have an active membership.

How to check whether your TV is supported
The quickest test is inside the Netflix app:
- Open Netflix and choose a profile.
- Look for Games in the top navigation.
- Select a title and check whether Play Game appears.
If the Games option is missing, Netflix recommends checking its account device-compatibility view:
- Open Netflix’s Manage Access and Devices page.
- Enable the option to show devices compatible with games.
- Check whether the TV or streaming device appears.
- Update the TV or streaming device software if it is listed but the Games row is still absent.
Netflix’s general supported-device page confirms that many televisions and streaming products can play Netflix video, but video compatibility does not automatically prove TV-game compatibility. Netflix does not provide one simple, permanent model-by-model list covering every current television and streaming-device model. The in-app Games test and account compatibility view are more useful than a generic device-brand list.
Why the Games tab might be missing
Common explanations include:
- Your country is not currently supported.
- Your TV or streaming-device model is not eligible.
- The hardware is too old or lacks the required capabilities.
- The Netflix app or device software needs an update.
- Your account has not received beta access.
- You are looking at mobile games rather than TV-playable titles.
- The Netflix interface is temporarily being updated.
Do not assume that buying any Fire TV, Roku, Google TV device, or new smart TV will definitely unlock the feature. Netflix’s general compatibility pages cover video playback, not universal game support for every model.
Troubleshooting Netflix TV games
The QR code will not scan
Netflix recommends changing the distance between the phone and TV, tapping the code area to help the camera focus, and using the phone’s native Camera app instead of a third-party scanner.
The phone connects but the controls do not work
- Confirm that the intended game is open on the TV.
- Scan the QR code again.
- Make sure each player has connected a separate phone or tablet.
- Check that an iPhone or iPad meets the iOS/iPadOS 17 requirement.
- Exit and relaunch the game if the session has become stale.
“Your connection is unstable”
Netflix’s recommended recovery sequence is:
- Turn off the TV or streaming device.
- Unplug the modem and router.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- Reconnect the modem and router.
- Wait for the network to restart.
- Turn the TV or streaming device back on.
- Try the game again.
Too many people are playing
If Netflix says too many people are playing games on your account, stop the game or close Netflix on another device in the household and retry. If Netflix says demand for that particular game is high, try another title or return later.

A game has disappeared
Netflix says games may be temporarily unavailable while they are being updated or fixed. Try again later and check the catalogue on the TV.
Is Netflix TV gaming worth using?
It is most appealing to existing Netflix subscribers who want a convenient extra rather than a console replacement. Families, casual players, and groups looking for simple party games are the best fit. A guest can potentially join without paying for another Netflix membership, and no separate controller purchase is needed.
The trade-offs are substantial. Availability remains limited, the TV catalogue is smaller and different from Netflix’s mobile catalogue, physical gamepads are unsupported, and every player generally needs a phone or tablet. Network stability matters, even if Netflix video streaming works acceptably in the same household. Competitive players and anyone seeking a broad library, conventional controllers, or predictable console-style performance will likely be better served by a dedicated console or another cloud-gaming service.
Netflix also says it receives and stores information about the app, device, and account used for TV or browser games. Controller gameplay is linked to the Netflix account running the TV game. Readers who are particularly privacy-sensitive should review Netflix’s current game and privacy information before enabling the feature.
For existing members, TV games are a useful included benefit. Buying an expensive television or streaming device solely for Netflix games is harder to justify while compatibility remains selective and the feature is still in beta.
