Checked August 18, 2026: Caravan SandWitch is the current Epic Games Store PC giveaway, available to claim through August 20, 2026. Claim it through the official Epic free-games page before the weekly rotation, and Epic says it will remain in your library permanently. You do not need to download it before the deadline.
Epic rotates its weekly giveaway every Thursday, so use the countdown on the official storefront as the final authority. The listing should be rechecked after the August 20 rotation.
The Epic Games Store game free to claim right now
Caravan SandWitch — claim by August 20, 2026.
- Platform: PC through the Epic Games Store
- Claim window: August 13–20, 2026
- Claim link: Epic Games Store free games
- What you keep: The game is added to the Epic account that completes the claim and can be downloaded later.
This is a time-limited giveaway, not a free trial. However, “free” applies only when the claim is completed during the promotion window. Epic says claimed weekly games remain in the user’s library permanently under the account that claimed them.
Because weekly offers change at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time every Thursday, the storefront countdown matters more than an article date or cached search result.

Do you need to download it before August 20?
No. The essential step is completing the claim, not installing the game. Once the giveaway is successfully added to your Epic account, Epic says you can download it later and retain it in the library.
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Claimed | Added to the Epic account during the active promotion and retained there under Epic’s stated conditions. |
| Downloaded | Installed on a device. This is not required before the giveaway ends. |
| Played | Requires installation and may require game-specific accounts, prerequisites, or an internet connection. |
Claim now if you want to secure the game but lack storage, are traveling, or plan to upgrade your computer later. Download immediately if you want to play before the offer changes or want to check compatibility and performance on your system.
Mobile giveaway: check separately
Epic’s mobile storefront is separate from the PC offer, and the titles do not necessarily match. For the week beginning August 13, 2026, community reports identified A Guidebook of Babel as the mobile giveaway, but that title should be treated as provisional until it appears on Epic’s official mobile storefront.
Do not assume that claiming the PC game claims the mobile edition, or that a mobile claim creates a PC entitlement. Community reports indicate that PC and mobile freebies may need to be redeemed independently.

What else appears on Epic’s free-games page?
Epic’s free-games page combines several kinds of offers. Not every item labeled “free” is a weekly giveaway that becomes part of your library permanently.
| Category | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Weekly giveaway | Claim during the active seven-day window; Epic says the claimed game remains in the library. |
| Free-to-play game | The base game can be played without buying it, but this is not a limited weekly giveaway. |
| Demo or prologue | A limited portion of a game, not ownership of the full release. |
| Free trial or free weekend | Access may stop when the promotional period ends. |
| DLC, pack, or event reward | May require the base game and can have separate platform or regional restrictions. |
Examples of permanently free-to-play base games shown by Epic include Fortnite, Rocket League, Fall Guys, VALORANT, The Sims 4, Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero. These should not be confused with the weekly giveaway.
A listing that says Play Now rather than Get often indicates a free-to-play title, demo, trial, event, or similar content. Confirm the product type and look for a completed $0.00 claim before assuming permanent ownership.

What happens if you miss the deadline?
If you do not complete the claim before the displayed promotion ends, you generally cannot retroactively obtain that giveaway for free through the expired offer. The game may return in a future promotion, but Epic does not guarantee that it will.
When the timer reaches zero, return to the official free-games page and check the next offer. A game that was claimed before the deadline should remain in the account library even if its store page later shows a price.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. If the claim fails
The game still shows a price
Possible explanations include an expired promotion, the wrong platform or edition, a different signed-in account, regional availability restrictions, or a storefront refresh problem. The page may also be for DLC, a trial, or a free-to-play component rather than the weekly giveaway.
- Return to the official Free Games page.
- Confirm the displayed deadline and platform.
- Check the account avatar and sign-in identity.
- Open the offer from Epic’s own listing.
- Refresh the page, or sign out and back in.
- Check the library before attempting to purchase anything.
If the claim appeared to complete but the game is missing, contact Epic Support after checking the account, library filters, hidden games, and claim confirmation.

Two-factor authentication blocks the claim
Epic states that 2FA is required for weekly free-game claims. Enable two-factor authentication on the account, then return to the giveaway and retry the $0.00 checkout.
The game is missing from the library
First verify that you are using the same Epic account that completed the claim. Then check library filters, hidden games, the correct storefront platform, and whether the checkout actually finished at $0.00. Do not repurchase the title until those checks are complete.
The mobile game is not visible on PC
That may be expected. Epic can present different PC and mobile offers, and the entitlements may need to be redeemed separately. A mobile claim should not be treated as a PC claim without confirmation from the specific product listing.
Important account and availability limits
- The claimed game is tied to the Epic account used during checkout.
- Country and regional storefront rules can affect availability, pricing display, taxes, and eligibility.
- Account age and parental-control settings can restrict some products or transactions.
- PC and mobile versions may have separate storefronts and entitlements.
- A claimed game is not the same as a DRM-free download or a transferable license.
- Installation may require prerequisites, the Epic Games Launcher, an online connection, or additional terms specific to the game.
For the most reliable result, claim through Epic’s own storefront, confirm the $0.00 transaction, and verify the title in your library before closing the page.

Epic’s support information says a new weekly free game becomes available every Thursday at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time and is normally claimable for seven days. The precise local cutoff can vary by time zone, so use the countdown displayed on the official listing rather than converting the time manually.
For this update, the reported PC window is August 13–20, 2026, with Caravan SandWitch as the giveaway. The official storefront remains the final source for whether the offer is active, which platform it covers, and when the claim closes.
