Act quickly: secure the device, try Roblox’s official password recovery, and contact Roblox Support if the attacker changed the email, phone number, password, or 2-Step Verification settings. Use the official Roblox Support form—never a third-party “recovery” service—and do not send anyone your password, browser cookies, 2SV codes, or backup codes.
- Remove suspicious extensions and downloads, then run a full malware scan.
- Try Forgot Password or Username? with the email or phone number attached to the account.
- If the email was changed, contact Support using the first email ever added to the account or the billing email used for the first payment.
- After recovery, change your password, end other sessions, check account settings, and enable 2-Step Verification.
What counts as a hacked Roblox account?
Your account may be compromised if someone changed the password, replaced the email or phone number, enabled or changed 2-Step Verification, logged in without permission, spent your Robux, traded away inventory, or used the account to send scams. A stolen browser session or malicious extension can also give someone access without your password being changed.
Not every login problem is a hack. A forgotten password should first go through self-service recovery. A moderation ban requires an appeal, while a platform outage should be checked against Roblox Status. Roblox’s Account help section separates these issues.
Do this before trying to recover the account
Secure the device first. If malware, a stolen session, or a malicious browser extension is still active, an attacker could steal your new password immediately.

- Remove suspicious browser extensions, especially anything installed after visiting a “free Robux,” trading, giveaway, exploit, or verification page.
- Remove suspicious off-site downloads.
- Run a full antivirus or malware scan. If malware is suspected, restart the device and scan again.
- From a clean device, change the password for the email account connected to Roblox if that email may also be compromised. Enable 2-Step Verification on the email account.
- Stop entering Roblox credentials on third-party websites. Use only the official Roblox website, official apps, and the official Support form.
Roblox specifically recommends removing suspicious downloads and extensions and running a full virus scan after an account compromise. See its hacked-account guidance.
If you can still log in
Take control before investigating every detail:
- Change the Roblox password to a unique password that has never been used elsewhere.
- Go to Settings → Security → Where you’re logged in.
- Review the listed devices, approximate regions, and last-active times.
- Select Log Out of All Other Sessions, or log out suspicious sessions individually.
- Check the account email, phone number, passkeys, 2SV methods, and backup codes. Remove anything the attacker added.
Some older sessions may appear as Unknown. The session controls are described in Roblox’s Session Management help page.
Then review recent purchases, trades, messages, friends, avatar items, and account settings. Save screenshots of suspicious activity for Support. Scan the device even if you can still sign in.
Reset the password with your email or phone
Email recovery
- Open the official Roblox login page or app.
- Select Forgot Password or Username?
- Enter the email address currently associated with the account, exactly as Roblox stored it.
- Check your inbox, spam, junk, promotions, and social folders.
- Open the Roblox message and select Reset Password.
- If the email is linked to multiple accounts, select the correct username.
- Create a new password that you have not used on Roblox or another service.
If the address contains punctuation, enter it in the form the same way it was originally saved. Roblox’s current instructions are in I Forgot My Password.

If the account has no usable email but does have a phone number, select the Phone tab on the recovery page, choose the country code, enter the number, select Continue and Verify, enter the six-digit code, and set a new password. Phone recovery is available only in select countries.
If neither the email nor phone number works, or the reset message never arrives, move to Roblox Support rather than repeatedly submitting guesses.

If the hacker changed the email address
This is the key recovery case: a reset email sent to the old address will not normally restore access if that address is no longer attached to the account. Submit a request through the Roblox Support form.
Submit the request using the first email address ever added to the Roblox account or, if the account had purchases, the billing email used for the first payment. Roblox says this original information can help verify ownership even after the account email was changed, but it does not guarantee recovery. If the account never had an email, credit-card, or PayPal purchase connected to it, Support may still explore other verification options.

My Roblox account appears to have been compromised.
Username: [username]

I am the original account owner and can provide purchase information or other ownership details if needed.
Please help secure and recover the account.Do not include a current or previous password, browser cookie, session token, 2SV code, backup code, full payment-card number, or identity document unless Roblox specifically requests an appropriate document through its official process.
Evidence that can help verify ownership
Gather information before submitting the request, but provide only what the official form asks for:
- Roblox username and previous usernames, if known.
- The first email added to the account.
- The billing email used for the first payment.
- Purchase receipts, dates, amounts, and transaction identifiers.
- The payment method and, where requested, the last four digits of a card.
- PayPal email or Google Play purchase number, where applicable.
- Previous email or phone number attached to the account.
- Device, operating system, and purchase platform.
- Approximate account-creation and compromise dates.
- Screenshots of Roblox security emails showing unauthorized changes.
For billing cases, Roblox may ask for the purchase date and amount, billing name, last four card digits, PayPal email, applicable purchase number, and username. Follow the form’s instructions and do not send extra financial information. See Unauthorized Charges & Refund Requests.

If 2-Step Verification is blocking access
Try every recovery method already configured on the account:
- Email verification code.
- Authenticator-app code.
- Saved backup code.
- Another configured verification method.
- A passkey, if one was added.
For an email code, check spam, junk, promotions, and social folders. Confirm that the message is going to the correct email address, add [email protected] to your contacts, then use Resend Code or Start Over. Roblox says email 2SV codes expire after 15 minutes, and repeated incorrect entries may stop working for that account.
Roblox currently says that losing the primary 2SV method may require two different verification methods in the account details. A verified phone number is available to users aged 13 and over; passkeys and saved backup codes are available for all ages. If the attacker enabled 2SV or you have no remaining method, contact Support and explain exactly what changed.

If Robux, Limited items, or inventory were stolen
Contact Roblox as soon as possible and state that the account was compromised. Roblox says assistance with lost inventory or approximate value is available only in very limited circumstances, is not guaranteed, and requires contacting Roblox within 30 days of the compromise.
Distinguish the transaction involved:
- Official Roblox trade: Report it through Support as part of the compromise.
- Off-platform deal or trade: Roblox says it does not support or enforce off-platform trades for items or currency.
- Unauthorized purchase: Use the billing and refund route as well as explaining the account compromise.
Do not promise yourself or a child that stolen Robux or items will definitely be restored. Roblox does not guarantee that the account, its previous state, currency, or inventory will be returned.

Unauthorized purchases and refunds
Preserve receipts and contact Roblox or the relevant payment provider before disputing the charge. Roblox says a payment dispute may prevent it from issuing a direct or immediate refund.
- A statement marked Roblox: contact Roblox Support.
- Xsolla*Roblox: contact Xsolla Support.
- Apple/iTunes, Microsoft/Xbox, PlayStation, Meta Quest, Samsung, or Amazon: request the refund from that platform’s support system.
Provide the purchase date, amount, billing name, last four card digits, PayPal email, applicable purchase number, and username when requested. Do not send a full card number.

Under-13 users and parents
A parent or guardian may need to help with the recovery request, especially when the child cannot access the account or the parent controls the recovery email. Roblox supports a parental recovery email for users under 13. That recovery email can be different from the email used for a linked parent account with parent privileges. See Roblox’s email and phone verification guidance.
The parent should submit accurate ownership and purchase information through official Support, while allowing the child to explain the username, devices, and approximate compromise date. Never give a child’s password or verification codes to a person claiming to be a moderator.

- Use a unique Roblox password.
- Change the email-account password too if phishing, malware, or password reuse is possible.
- Go to Settings → Security → Where you’re logged in and sign out all other sessions.
- Verify the correct email and phone number under Settings → Account Info.
- Enable 2-Step Verification under Settings → Security. Roblox recommends an authenticator app, but keep a recovery method available.
- Add a passkey and save backup codes offline in a secure place.
- Review purchases, trades, messages, friends, inventory, avatar items, and account settings.
- Remove malicious extensions and downloads permanently, and rescan the device.
- Change the password on every other service where the old Roblox password was reused.
- Report scam accounts or messages through Roblox’s Report Abuse feature.
Roblox warns users never to share passwords, cookies, 2SV codes, backup codes, or sensitive computer information. Its account-safety guidance also recommends using Roblox only through official channels.
Should you enable Enhanced Protection?
After ordinary recovery is complete, eligible users can consider Roblox’s Enhanced Protection. It uses passkeys or hardware security keys instead of less-resistant six-digit email or authenticator codes.

The stated requirements are at least one passkey, a verified email address, and either a verified phone number or backup codes as a secondary identity-verification layer. It is not required for normal account recovery. Before enabling it, make sure you can maintain access to the passkey or security key; losing that key creates a separate, more involved ownership-recovery process.
How to avoid a second recovery scam
Someone who has just lost an account is an easy target. Roblox employees will not ask for your password, browser cookie, session token, 2SV code, or backup codes.
- Do not pay a person on Discord, YouTube, TikTok, or another site who promises recovery.
- Do not use “free Robux,” exploit, giveaway, trading, or verification links.
- Do not install a cookie tool, unlocker, or remote-access program.
- Enter credentials only on the official Roblox website or official apps.
- Use only the official Roblox Support form.

If Roblox does not restore the account
Check your Support request for an accurate username, original email or first-payment billing email, dates, and a consistent description. Reply in the same ticket thread where possible and provide additional ownership evidence Roblox specifically requests.
