The game has 45 distinct Charm entries, though mutually exclusive upgrades mean you can hold at most 40 at once; the Knight starts with three Charm Notches and can collect eight more, for eleven total. These locations and requirements are drawn from the community-maintained Hollow Knight Wiki, not official developer documentation.
Charms use Notches, and you must sit at a Bench to equip or remove them. Overcharming lets you equip beyond your available Notches, but doubles damage taken except for environmental damage while invulnerable; it is an optional risk, not a general exploration recommendation.

- Wayward Compass: Iselda in Dirtmouth, for 220 Geo after encountering Cornifer.
- Gathering Swarm: Sly in Dirtmouth, for 300 Geo.
- Stalwart Shell: Sly in Dirtmouth, for 200 Geo.
- Shaman Stone: Salubra in Forgotten Crossroads, for 220 Geo.
- Sprintmaster: Sly in Dirtmouth, for 400 Geo; requires the Shopkeeper’s Key.
- Fragile Heart: Leg Eater in Fungal Wastes, for 350 Geo (280 Geo with the stated discount).
- Fragile Greed: Leg Eater, for 250 Geo (200 Geo with the stated discount).
- Fragile Strength: Leg Eater, for 600 Geo (480 Geo with the stated discount).

Quest charms and mutually exclusive outcomes
- Unbreakable Heart: Divine in Dirtmouth, for 12,000 Geo; requires Fragile Heart.
- Unbreakable Greed: Divine, for 9,000 Geo; requires Fragile Greed.
- Unbreakable Strength: Divine, for 15,000 Geo; requires Fragile Strength.
- Grimmchild: Given by Troupe Master Grimm.
- Carefree Melody: Given by Nymm in Dirtmouth after banishing the Grimm Troupe; replaces Grimmchild.
- Kingsoul: Combine the half from the White Lady with the half at the end of White Palace.
- Void Heart: At the Birthplace; requires Kingsoul equipped. It cannot be unequipped.
Spoiler: Grimm Troupe endings
The Grimm Troupe quest has mutually exclusive Ritual and Banishment endings. Following the Ritual path retains Grimmchild and allows Divine to upgrade Fragile Charms; banishing the troupe replaces Grimmchild with Carefree Melody through Nymm. Grimmchild and Carefree Melody cannot both be held on one save. The cited reference warns that unacquired Unbreakable Charms can become permanently unobtainable after banishment, so completion-focused players should consider upgrading their Fragile Charms before choosing that route.

- Buy from Salubra in Forgotten Crossroads for 120 Geo after acquiring 5 Charms.
- Buy from Salubra for 500 Geo after acquiring 10 Charms.
- Buy from Salubra for 900 Geo after acquiring 18 Charms.
- Buy from Salubra for 1,400 Geo after acquiring 25 Charms.
- Find it in the hidden area northeast of Cornifer in Fog Canyon; requires Isma’s Tear or Monarch Wings.
- Defeat two Shrumal Ogres in Fungal Wastes.
- Complete the Trial of the Warrior in the Colosseum of Fools.
- Defeat Grimm inside the Grimm Troupe tent in Dirtmouth.
After buying all her Charm Notches and collecting 40 Charms, Salubra sells Salubra’s Blessing for 800 Geo.

Can I equip Charms anywhere?
No. Sit at a Bench to equip or remove Charms. Equipping beyond your available Notches causes overcharming and doubles damage taken, except for environmental damage while invulnerable.
Can I get both Grimmchild and Carefree Melody?
No. The Ritual and Banishment outcomes are mutually exclusive on a save: Banishment replaces Grimmchild with Carefree Melody.
