Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallCrashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutebugsplat64.dll may trigger messages such as “The program can’t start because bugsplat64.dll is missing from your computer.” Another common variant is “The code execution cannot proceed because bugsplat64.dll was not found.”
These messages usually mean that an application cannot find or load one of its bundled BugSplat crash-reporting files. The safest fix is to identify the program that owns the file, then update, verify, repair, or reinstall that program rather than downloading a replacement DLL.
Which fix applies to you
Use this checklist before changing Windows:
- The error appears when starting one game or application: update it, then run its launcher’s file verification or repair function.
- The problem started after an update, migration, backup restore, or interrupted installation: verify the files or perform a clean reinstall.
- Your antivirus recently reported or quarantined the file: inspect Protection history before restoring anything.
- The message also names
VCRUNTIME140.dll,MSVCP140.dll, or another Microsoft runtime: repair or install the matching Visual C++ Redistributable. - The error appears when Windows starts, but the original program is gone: remove the orphaned startup entry or reinstall and uninstall the application cleanly.
- Many unrelated programs report DLL errors: investigate Windows corruption, disk problems, malware, or failing storage.
- The dialog says “Bad Image,” “entry point not found,” or “not designed to run on Windows”: suspect mixed versions, the wrong architecture, or a damaged installation.
What bugsplat64.dll is
bugsplat64.dll is not a Windows system file. It is an application-local, 64-bit BugSplat crash-reporting library supplied with a particular third-party game or program.
BugSplat helps applications collect and report crash information to the software developer. It is not a Microsoft Windows runtime, and it does not normally belong in either of these folders:

The correct copy is normally beside the affected program’s executable, inside that program’s installation directory. The exact application cannot be identified from the filename alone because multiple games and programs can bundle BugSplat components.
A reported file identification lists a 64-bit 3.3.0.8 build of approximately 0.27 MB. Do not treat those details as a universal replacement target. Different applications can ship different BugSplat builds, dependencies, and file layouts.
Identify the program that owns the file
Finding the owning application prevents you from repairing the wrong installation.
Check the error dialog and shortcut
Read the title bar and surrounding text in the error dialog. It may name the game or application even when the missing filename is the main focus.
If you launch the program from a shortcut:
- Right-click the shortcut.
- Select Properties.
- Read the Target field.
- Note the executable name and installation folder.
- Open that folder in File Explorer and check whether
bugsplat64.dllis present.
You can also right-click the shortcut and choose Open file location when that option is available.
Check the launcher
Open the launcher that starts the affected game or application. Look for the installed title, library entry, or manage button. The launcher often identifies the installation path and provides verification or repair controls.
Check Event Viewer
If the program closes without a useful dialog:
- Press Windows key + X.
- Select Event Viewer.
- Expand Windows Logs.
- Select Application.
- Find an error recorded at the time of the failed launch.
- Read Faulting application name, Faulting module name, and the path fields.
If BugSplat64.dll appears as the faulting module, that does not prove BugSplat caused the original crash. A crash reporter may be the component handling or reporting a failure caused elsewhere.
Fix 1: Restart, update, and verify the application
Start with the repair built into the owning application.

Restart Windows
- Save your work.
- Select Start.
- Select Power.
- Select Restart.
- Try the application again.
A restart can release a locked file or complete a pending update, but it will not repair a permanently deleted DLL.
Update the program
Open the application’s official launcher or update utility. Install all available updates, restart if requested, and launch the program again.
For a Microsoft Store application:
- Open Microsoft Store.
- Select Library.
- Select Get updates.
- Let the affected application update.
- Try it again.
For a traditional desktop program, use its built-in updater or download a fresh installer from the application publisher. Do not use a standalone DLL source.
Verify or repair game files
The wording varies by launcher, but the control is usually called Verify, Verify integrity, Repair, or Scan and repair.
The general process is:
- Open the game launcher.
- Open its Library or installed-games list.
- Right-click the affected game or select its Manage menu.
- Open Properties, Installed files, or Installation.
- Select Verify, Verify integrity, or Repair.
- Wait for the scan to finish.
- Allow the launcher to redownload missing or damaged files.
- Restart the launcher and try the game.
If verification reports damaged files repeatedly, check available disk space and the health of the drive before reinstalling.
Fix 2: Use the application’s Windows repair option
Some desktop applications register a repair entry in Windows.
- Press Windows key + I.
- Select Apps.
- On Windows 11, select Installed apps. On Windows 10, select Apps & features.
- Find the application that generated the error.
- Select the three-dot menu on Windows 11, or select the application on Windows 10.
- Choose Advanced options if available.
- Select Repair.
- Launch the program again.
If there is no Repair button, open Control Panel:
- Press Windows key, type
Control Panel, and open it. - Select Programs.
- Select Programs and Features.
- Select the affected application.
- Choose Change, Repair, or the equivalent installer option.
- Complete the wizard and restart Windows.
A repair should restore files without removing personal data, but the available options depend on the application’s installer.
Fix 3: Reinstall the owning application cleanly
If verification and repair fail, reinstall the application from its official publisher or launcher.

- MICROSOFT WINDOWS 11 PRO (INGLES) FPP 64-BIT ENG INTL USB FLASH DRIVE
- Back up save files, profiles, templates, or other personal data.
- Uninstall the affected application from Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Restart Windows.
- Delete only leftover folders that clearly belong to that application.
- Download the installer from the publisher’s official website or use the official launcher.
- Install the program again.
- Start it once before restoring modified files or add-ons.
Do not copy bugsplat64.dll from another game or computer. A DLL can have the same filename while requiring a different application version, dependency set, or architecture.
If reinstalling produces an entry point not found error, remove the application completely, restart, and install one consistent official release. That message commonly indicates that files from different releases have been mixed.
Fix 4: Check antivirus quarantine
Security software can quarantine a legitimate application file, or it can identify a malicious file using a legitimate filename.
In Windows Security:
- Open Start.
- Type Windows Security and open it.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review entries from the time the application stopped working.
- Expand the relevant detection.
- Confirm the file path and the application that installed it.
Restore or allow the file only if all of the following are true:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- The application came from a trusted official source.
- The path is inside that application’s normal installation folder.
- The detection is clearly a false positive.
- You can scan the installation and the wider system afterward.
If the installer or application came from an unofficial repack, an unexpected writable folder, or an unknown source, do not whitelist the file. Remove the installation, run a malware scan, and reinstall from the official source.
After restoring a quarantined file, run the application’s file verification step. A clean official reinstall is usually safer than manually restoring one DLL.
Fix 5: Repair Visual C++ dependencies only when named
BugSplat itself is not the same thing as the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime.
Install or repair Visual C++ only when the complete error also names a dependency such as:

VCRUNTIME140.dll
MSVCP140.dll
api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll
The architecture must match the application:
- A 64-bit program generally needs the x64 runtime.
- A 32-bit program generally needs the x86 runtime, even on 64-bit Windows.
- Some older applications require an older runtime version as well as a newer one.
Use Microsoft’s official Latest Supported Visual C++ Redistributable download page. Install the architecture named by the application documentation or error, restart Windows, and test the program.
Installing Visual C++ will not recreate an application-owned bugsplat64.dll. If the error names only bugsplat64.dll, return to verification or reinstallation of the owning program.
Fix 6: Repair Windows components for broader corruption
Use DISM and System File Checker when multiple applications report missing or damaged Windows files, Windows features behave abnormally, or system corruption is suspected. These tools repair Windows components, not arbitrary third-party DLLs.
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Select Run as administrator.
- Approve the User Account Control prompt.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to complete.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Test the affected application again.
If SFC reports that it repaired files, restart and retest. If it cannot complete, run Windows Update and repeat the commands from an elevated Command Prompt.

One-click scans. No signup required.
When you are repeatedly hunting through repair commands without knowing what changed, Outbyte PC Repair can provide a free scan that shows detected problems; repairs are performed by the full version, and reinstalling the owning application remains the definitive fix for its bundled DLL.
Fix 7: Do not install drivers for this DLL unless another error requires them
A bugsplat64.dll message is not normally a graphics, chipset, audio, or printer-driver error. Device Manager will not replace this application file.
Check drivers only if the application also crashes with display errors, hardware failures, or a separate driver name:
- Press Windows key + X.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the relevant category, such as Display adapters.
- Right-click the device.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows if a driver is installed.
For graphics drivers, prefer the official computer or graphics-card manufacturer. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated drivers and show what needs attention; the free scan identifies issues, while driver installation is handled by the full version, and it is not a replacement for reinstalling the application that owns bugsplat64.dll.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Why regsvr32 usually does not apply
Do not routinely run:
regsvr32 bugsplat64.dll
regsvr32 is intended for self-registering COM or ActiveX DLLs that provide a registration entry point. An application runtime library such as BugSplat’s bundled DLL usually does not need registration.
A successful regsvr32 message would not prove that the file belongs to the correct application, has the right architecture, or has all required dependencies. Use the application installer instead.

Fix a startup error after removing the program
If the error appears immediately after signing in and no application opens, Windows may be trying to launch a leftover entry.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
- Select Startup apps.
- Look for an entry associated with the removed application.
- Right-click it and select Disable.
- Restart Windows.
Also check Task Scheduler:
- Press Windows key, type
Task Scheduler, and open it. - Select Task Scheduler Library.
- Review tasks that clearly belong to the removed program.
- Confirm the Actions path points to a missing executable.
- Disable or delete only the orphaned task.
If you are unsure which entry is responsible, reinstall the original application from its official source and uninstall it through Windows. Do not delete random startup items.
Check for suspicious copies
A legitimate filename does not make every copy legitimate. Treat bugsplat64.dll as suspicious when it appears in an unexpected temporary folder, a user-writable folder, or beside an unknown executable.
- Right-click the file.
- Select Properties.
- Check Location, Digital Signatures if present, and Details.
- Note which executable loads it.
- Run a Windows Security scan on the folder and then a full system scan.
Do not move the file to a Windows folder to make an error disappear. That can create a DLL search-path or sideloading problem.
Prevention after the repair
- Keep the affected launcher and application updated.
- Use built-in verification after interrupted updates or copied installations.
- Avoid unofficial repacks and copied game folders.
- Keep sufficient free space for updates and temporary files.
- Review antivirus quarantine before reinstalling the same application repeatedly.
- Keep backups of saves and configuration files before uninstalling.
- Leave application DLLs in their original installation directory.
FAQ
Is bugsplat64.dll a Windows file?
No. It is an application-bundled BugSplat crash-reporting library and does not normally belong in System32 or SysWOW64.
Can I download bugsplat64.dll separately?
Avoid random DLL download sites. The file may be malicious, the wrong 32-bit or 64-bit architecture, or a build that does not match the application. Repair or reinstall the owning program from its official source.
Recommended Free Tools
Which game or program uses bugsplat64.dll?
The filename alone does not identify the owner. Use the error dialog, shortcut target, launcher, file path, or Event Viewer to trace it.
Does a crash naming BugSplat64.dll mean BugSplat caused the crash?
No. The crash reporter may be the component that received or recorded a failure caused by another part of the application.
Should I install Visual C++ Redistributable?
Only when the complete error names a Microsoft runtime or the application documents that dependency. Visual C++ does not replace the application’s BugSplat DLL.
Should I run DISM and SFC?
Run them when Windows itself appears corrupted or many unrelated programs fail. They do not normally restore a missing third-party application file.
When should I contact the publisher?
Contact the game or application publisher when official verification and a clean reinstall still fail. Provide the exact error, application version, installation path, Event Viewer details, antivirus history, and whether the failure began after an update or migration. Contact BugSplat only for BugSplat integration or crash-reporting questions; the application publisher controls the bundle delivered to end users.
