You do not need 1,000,000 Coins, a 5,000,000-value stash, a damage-score threshold, or a specific Blueprint. Reach Raider level 20, complete the Caravan, sign up during an Expedition Window, and remain signed up until the window closes.
The current Expedition cycle is Expedition 5, scheduled for July 21 through September 21, 2026. Patchwork is tied to your Expedition departure count, not to the original launch window, so players joining later can still earn the base outfit.
How to unlock the Patchwork Raider outfit
- Reach Raider level 20. This permanently unlocks the Expedition Project.
- Complete all six Caravan preparation stages: Foundation, Core Systems, Framework, Outfitting, Load Stage, and Departure.
- Wait for the Expedition Window. Completing the Caravan alone does not enroll you.
- Select Sign Up while the window is active.
- Stay signed up until the window closes. Departure is automatic; selecting Sign Up does not send you away immediately.
- Complete the departure. Your replacement Raider receives the permanent rewards, including the base Patchwork outfit after your first completed Expedition.
The game’s verified system labels include Projects, Expedition, Caravan, Expedition Window, and Sign Up. The exact navigation path and button prompt can vary by platform and current version, so use those labels rather than relying on an unverified controller-specific guide.

What you must contribute to the Caravan
The Caravan has six sequential preparation stages. Items contributed to it are committed permanently and cannot be retrieved, so check the requirement before confirming each contribution.
The final Load Stage requires value contributions from four categories:
- Combat Items
- Survival Items
- Provisions
- Materials
The exact item requirements can change between Expeditions. You can prepare the Caravan between Expedition Windows, but the actual Expedition completion only occurs during the scheduled window.
Caravan completion is not the same as signing up
This is the most common reason players miss the reward. Finishing all six Caravan stages only makes you eligible to sign up. It does not automatically enroll your Raider.

You then need to remain signed up until the window closes. Players who are signed up depart automatically at that point; there is no immediate departure when the button is selected.
What if you missed the sign-up window?
The official Last Call feature can offer another sign-up opportunity the next time you log in if you completed the Caravan but missed enrollment during the active window. Last Call does not require the damage challenge, but it grants no Skill Points.

If Last Call appears, use it to enroll rather than assuming that completing the Caravan has already counted as a departure. The reward is tied to the completed departure, not merely to Caravan preparation.
Patchwork rewards by Expedition number

These rewards are based on your Expedition departure count. The base Patchwork outfit is not restricted to the first Expedition window, and later players can still earn it on their first completed departure.

Do damage challenges or stash value affect Patchwork?
No. Patchwork itself is awarded from Expedition completion. It does not require a stash-value target, Coin target, Blueprint, damage total, or Skill Point threshold.

The separate Expedition Challenge has documented damage thresholds of 5,000, 10,000, 30,000, 50,000, and 100,000 total damage. Those thresholds provide bonus progression for the applicable Expedition, but they do not decide whether you receive the outfit.
Claims that you need 1,000,000 Coins or 5,000,000 total stash value for Patchwork confuse bonus progression requirements with the base cosmetic reward.

Beginning with the fourth Expedition, the Expedition Challenge stopped awarding Skill Points. It now awards temporary Blueprints and permanent Raider Tokens instead. The Blueprint rewards reset at the next departure, while Raider Tokens remain unlocked.

The fourth Expedition also added 12 stash spaces, bringing the cumulative Expedition stash increase to 48 after four departures. The fifth departure raises the maximum total increase to 60.
What resets when you depart?
Expedition departure resets substantial Raider progression. The reset includes:
- Inventory items
- Blueprints
- Coins
- Player Level
- Skill Points
- Raider Den
- Workshop
- Quests
- Stash Upgrade Progress
It preserves:
- Unlocked maps and Codex entries
- Raider Tokens, Cred, and Merits
- Raider Deck progress
- Active leaderboards and Trials
- Cosmetics, including Patchwork
- Personal event progress
- Expedition-earned bonus Skill Points and stash slots
Patchwork is account-level cosmetic progress, so it remains unlocked through future Expedition resets.
Is Patchwork a set of interchangeable gear pieces?
No. Patchwork is a full outfit rather than a separately equippable jacket, pants, helmet, or armor collection. Outfit parts, including headgear, cannot be mixed and matched with pieces from another outfit.
Why some older Patchwork guides are misleading
In February 2026, a caching bug accidentally exposed Patchwork Evolved content to some players. Base-outfit owners temporarily saw armored pieces and a helmet, and the toggles did not work correctly. That incident was not the normal unlock method.
Likewise, guides saying Patchwork was exclusive to the first Expedition window or required millions in Coins or stash value describe outdated or incorrect information. The current rule is simpler: complete your first Expedition departure to receive the base outfit.
