Usually, no. An ordinary Minecraft Bedrock world is generally stored on the device where it was created. Signing in with the same Microsoft account on another device does not, by itself, guarantee that the world will appear there.
For dependable cloud transfer and recovery, upload the world to Minecraft Realms. Windows Bedrock also has newer, version-dependent cloud backup and sync features, while Android supports manual world-folder backups when External storage is enabled.

The short answer by platform

This distinction matters because “Minecraft data” includes several different things. Your Microsoft-account identity, gamertag, Marketplace purchases and Realms access are account-linked services. An ordinary world under the local Worlds tab is usually a world file on the device, not automatically a Microsoft-account cloud save.
Minecraft’s transfer guidance lists cloud storage, physical storage and Realms as ways to move worlds, rather than promising that every local world synchronizes automatically: official transfer guidance.

What signing into the same Microsoft account does—and does not do
Signing in on a replacement device can restore access to account-linked purchases, subscriptions, Marketplace content and Realms, subject to the relevant platform and account requirements. It does not necessarily recreate a single-player world that existed only on the old device.
If the new device shows an empty Worlds list, likely explanations include:
- The old world was local-only and was never uploaded or exported.
- You signed into a different Microsoft account.
- You are checking Worlds instead of Realms, or the reverse.
- A device backup did not include Minecraft’s world data.
- The world was stored in an application-private location.
A useful rule is: if a world is listed under Worlds, treat it as local unless you have separately backed it up.
Using Realms to transfer a Bedrock world
Realms is more than a multiplayer service. Minecraft officially supports uploading a single-player Bedrock world to a Realm and downloading it on another device. The transfer requires an active trial or paid Realms subscription, and both devices should be updated to the latest compatible Minecraft version.

Upload the world
- Sign in with the same Microsoft account on both devices.
- On the source device, open Play, then open Realms.
- Select the Realm and open Settings.
- Select a Realm slot and choose Edit World.
- At the bottom of Game Settings, choose Upload World for an empty slot or Replace World for an occupied slot.
- Confirm the upload and do not delete the original local world.
Be careful with Replace World: it can overwrite the world currently occupying that Realm slot and its saved progress. Check the world name, last-played date and contents before confirming.
Download it on the new device
- Open Play → Realms.
- Open the Realm’s Settings.
- Select the relevant world slot and choose Edit World.
- Under Game Settings, choose Download World.
- Confirm the download and check the local Worlds list.
The downloaded copy normally appears as World name – Copy. It is a local copy, not a continuously synchronized mirror. Future edits to that copy will not automatically update the Realm; you must explicitly upload or replace the Realm world again.
Realms can also be used as a temporary transfer tool. Minecraft’s documented process supports using an active trial or paid subscription to upload one world, download it on the destination device and then keep or cancel the service according to your needs. Download important worlds before cancelling or allowing a subscription to lapse, and keep an independent copy rather than relying on an unverified retention assumption.
Realm backups and recovery
A Realm has two related but different functions:
- Hosting: the active Realm world is stored online and playable through the service.
- Backup: automatic or manual Realm saves provide snapshots that can be restored.
To restore a Realm snapshot, open Play → Realms → Settings → Manage Realm → Saves. Choose the Manual or Automatic tab, select a save and choose Restore save.

Restoring rolls the Realm back to the selected snapshot, including builds and items. It does not recover a local world that was never uploaded to that Realm. If you might need the Realm’s current state, download it first before restoring an older save. See Minecraft’s Realm restoration instructions.
Windows Bedrock cloud backup and sync
Windows requires a current qualification. Minecraft Bedrock 26.30 introduced cloud backup of Windows worlds as an early preview, including a stated 4 GB Windows Preview cloud-backup capacity. The 26.40 notes also describe cloud backup and cloud sync for Windows world data.
That does not mean every Windows installation automatically has the feature. Availability can depend on the installed build, preview participation, account and rollout. Check whether the feature is actually visible and whether a backup has completed before treating it as your only copy. The relevant notes are the 26.30 changelog and 26.40 Bedrock notes.
Android and other mobile devices
On Android, Minecraft’s official instructions support copying world files when the world’s File Storage Location is set to External. The documented folder is:

Android/data/com.mojang.minecraftpe/files/games/com.mojang/minecraftWorldsAndroid storage restrictions may make this folder difficult to access, and worlds stored in the application location require a different transfer method, such as Realms. Do not delete the old installation until the copied world has been imported and opened successfully.
For iOS, avoid assuming that iCloud or a Microsoft-account sign-in will restore every local world. Use the game’s supported export or transfer options, or upload the world to Realms before replacing or resetting the device.
What happens after a device is lost, reset or replaced?
- The world was on a Realm: sign in with the same Microsoft account and access or download the Realm world.
- You exported or copied the world: import or restore that separate copy.
- Windows cloud backup is enabled and verified: use the supported Windows recovery or sync feature for that installation.
- The world existed only locally with no backup: recovery may be impossible after deletion, device failure or reinstallation.
Reinstalling Minecraft or signing back into the Microsoft account is not itself a guaranteed recovery method for a local-only world.

Marketplace purchases and subscriptions are associated with the relevant account and are generally intended to be available after signing in again. That does not guarantee that every world-specific setting, add-on configuration, third-party file or locally installed pack will reproduce identically.

Compatibility, ownership, installation state, platform and Minecraft version can all matter. Back up important world files and verify add-ons separately instead of assuming that account access equals a complete installation backup.
A safer backup plan
- Keep the original world untouched.
- Make a separate export or folder copy where your platform supports it.
- Upload a copy to Realms if cross-device access or online recovery matters.
- Download the Realm world periodically for an independent archive.
- Open the copied or downloaded world once to verify that it works.
- Keep at least two copies in different locations.
- Do not wipe or sell the old device until the replacement copy has been tested.
Common problems
The same account shows an empty Worlds list
Confirm the Microsoft account, check both the Worlds and Realms tabs, and determine whether the old world was ever uploaded. If it was local-only and no file or platform backup exists, the account cannot be assumed to restore it.
The upload fails
Do not delete the source world. Check network stability and available storage, restart Minecraft, update both devices and retry. If possible, use a manual export or copy instead, then verify the uploaded world by downloading it to a test slot or device.
The wrong Realm slot was replaced
Stop making changes and check the Realm’s available automatic and manual saves. Download the current state if needed, then restore the correct snapshot carefully. Restoration returns the Realm to that snapshot and removes later progress from the active world.

Update both devices, confirm that the account and edition are correct, and retain the original world. Avoid opening or converting the only copy in a newer or preview build until a backup exists.
