Yes—you can play the Android version of Knives Out on a Windows PC or a compatible Mac through BlueStacks. BlueStacks is an Android emulator, not a native Windows or macOS edition of the game. The usual route is to install BlueStacks, sign in to Google Play, install the official Knives Out listing from NetEase Games, and then configure keyboard, mouse, or controller input.

Windows users should start with the current BlueStacks 5 installer. Apple Silicon Mac owners should use BlueStacks Air. Intel Mac support should be verified on the current BlueStacks download page rather than assumed from older game-specific requirements.

Can you still play Knives Out on PC or Mac?

Knives Out remains a mobile battle-royale game from NetEase Games. It is still listed under NetEase Games on Google Play, and the US App Store listing identifies NetEase Games as the developer.

BlueStacks runs the Android version inside an emulated Android environment. That means you are not installing a separate native PC client. The game, account systems, regional availability, updates, and publisher rules remain those of the mobile release.

8Bitdo Ultimate 2C Wireless Controller for Windows PC and Android, with 1000 Hz Polling Rate, Hall Effect Joysticks and Triggers, and Remappable L4/R4 Bumpers (Green)
  • Compatible with Windows and Android.
  • 1000Hz Polling Rate (for 2.4G and wired connection)
  • Hall Effect joysticks and Hall triggers. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings.
  • Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.
  • Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.

BlueStacks also advertises cloud-play options for some games, but cloud availability, latency, and regional access are not guaranteed. The most predictable setup described here is local Android emulation through BlueStacks.

Verify the correct game listing

In Google Play, look for:

  • The exact title Knives Out.
  • Publisher: NetEase Games.
  • A listing available in your Google Play country and account.

Names, editions, servers, and availability can vary by region. If the game does not appear, do not immediately download a random APK. Modified or unofficial APKs can create malware, account-security, and compatibility risks.

What you need before installing

Requirements shown on the Knives Out BlueStacks page

The official BlueStacks game page lists the following baseline:

  • Windows 7 or later, or macOS 11 Big Sur or later.
  • An Intel, AMD, or Apple Silicon processor.
  • At least 4 GB of RAM.
  • 10 GB of free storage.
  • Administrator access.
  • Up-to-date graphics drivers.

That page was last modified on July 22, 2024. Treat those figures as a dated listed minimum—not a guarantee of smooth play, high graphics settings, or a particular frame rate.

More practical hardware guidance

For a better chance of stable gameplay, aim for:

  • 8 GB of RAM or more.
  • An SSD instead of a mechanical hard drive.
  • Current graphics drivers.
  • Hardware virtualization enabled where required.
  • A stable broadband connection.
  • Enough spare storage for emulator files, game updates, and downloaded resources.

BlueStacks’ Windows guidance also recommends 8 GB RAM, an SSD, current drivers, and enabled virtualization. These are practical recommendations, not an independent Knives Out performance benchmark.

Mac-specific requirements

For Apple Silicon Macs, current BlueStacks guidance points to BlueStacks Air. Its documented minimum is an M1–M4 Mac with at least 8 GB of RAM; 16 GB is recommended.

The older Knives Out page groups Intel and Apple Silicon Macs together and lists macOS 11 as a baseline, but that does not prove that every current BlueStacks build supports every Intel Mac or macOS 11 configuration. If you have an Intel Mac, check the current BlueStacks Mac download page before committing to the setup.

Install Knives Out with BlueStacks on Windows

  1. Open the official BlueStacks website and download the current BlueStacks 5 installer. Avoid third-party download sites and repackaged installers.
  2. Run the installer and select Agree and Install, as described in BlueStacks’ installation guide.
  3. Allow the installation to finish, then launch BlueStacks.
  4. Open Google Play and sign in with a Google account.
  5. Search for Knives Out.
  6. Confirm that the publisher is NetEase Games.
  7. Select Install.
  8. Wait for both the app installation and any additional in-game resource download.
  9. Launch the game from the BlueStacks home screen.
  10. Sign in using the supported Knives Out account method you normally use, if applicable.

Start with BlueStacks’ default Android instance. Create another instance only if compatibility troubleshooting or current BlueStacks support guidance calls for it; there is no universal requirement to use a particular instance.

Install Knives Out with BlueStacks Air on Mac

This route is for Apple Silicon Macs, including M-series systems.

  1. Confirm that your Mac uses Apple Silicon by opening Apple menu → About This Mac.
  2. Download BlueStacks Air from the official Mac page.
  3. Open the downloaded .pkg file.
  4. Select Continue and follow the installation wizard.
  5. Approve the macOS permissions requested by the installer or emulator.
  6. Launch BlueStacks Air.
  7. Sign in to Google Play.
  8. Search for the official NetEase Games version of Knives Out.
  9. Select Install, allow updates and resource downloads to finish, and launch the game.

BlueStacks Air may provide preconfigured keyboard and trackpad controls for some games, but that does not guarantee that every Knives Out action is mapped correctly. Test and customize the controls yourself.

First-launch setup

  • Use a reliable connection while the game downloads its initial resources.
  • Complete the tutorial or first resource compilation before judging performance.
  • Use the same supported Knives Out sign-in method you use on mobile if you need synchronized progress.
  • Remember that your Google Play login and your Knives Out account login are not necessarily the same account.
  • Confirm the server or region before investing time in a profile.
  • Test audio, microphone permissions, and voice chat.
  • Restart the game after major graphics or control changes.

Configure keyboard, mouse, and controller controls

Keyboard and mouse

BlueStacks provides a controls editor and promotes keyboard, mouse, and gamepad support for Knives Out. Its game-specific materials describe F1 as a shooting-mode toggle for mouse aiming and shooting on the relevant setup, but default mappings can change between BlueStacks and game versions.

  1. Launch Knives Out.
  2. Open the BlueStacks controls editor from the current emulator toolbar control.
  3. Select the available shooting or control profile.
  4. Enable shooting mode if the profile requires it.
  5. Test movement, camera, firing, aiming, crouching, prone, jumping, reloading, inventory, map, vehicles, and interaction.
  6. Rebind conflicting keys and save the profile.
  7. Test it in training or a low-stakes match.
Function Suggested configuration
Movement WASD or the game’s preferred movement keys
Camera and aim Mouse-look through shooting mode
Fire Left mouse button
Aim Right mouse button or a separate mapped key
Reload A nearby keyboard key
Crouch and prone Separate keys where both actions are supported
Jump or vault A convenient thumb key
Inventory and map Keys that do not conflict with chat or movement
Vehicles Test separately from on-foot controls

Do not assume that a key map shown in an older guide is still the current official preset. The game or emulator can reset mappings after an update.

Gamepad

Connect or pair the controller before launching the game. Confirm that BlueStacks detects it, then check whether Knives Out recognizes it directly or needs an emulator mapping profile. Test analog-stick sensitivity, aim acceleration, triggers, menus, and vehicle controls. Avoid switching constantly between controller and mouse input while troubleshooting.

Starting graphics and performance settings

There is no universal best configuration. Hardware, drivers, thermals, resolution, background applications, and game updates all affect the result. Begin conservatively:

  1. Start with BlueStacks’ default performance profile.
  2. Close browsers, video editors, launchers, other emulators, and unnecessary high-memory applications.
  3. Enable hardware virtualization if BlueStacks reports that it is disabled.
  4. Allocate a moderate amount of CPU and RAM rather than assigning every resource to the emulator.
  5. Use the game’s low or medium graphics preset first.
  6. Set a conservative FPS target.
  7. Increase quality only after gameplay is stable.
  8. Restart BlueStacks after major engine, renderer, or resource changes.

Lower emulator resolution before aggressively reducing every game setting. Use windowed mode while configuring scaling and controls, then switch to full-screen once the setup is correct. Retina displays can render at unexpectedly high resolutions, increasing GPU load.

BlueStacks advertises FPS customization and performance tools, but those features do not guarantee a specific frame rate. A laptop may also consume substantial power and generate heat during a 3D battle-royale session. Play while connected to power, keep vents clear, and watch for thermal throttling. Do not judge performance during the first update or resource-compilation pass.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Virtualization on Windows

If BlueStacks says virtualization is disabled, check for Intel VT-x or AMD-V in UEFI/BIOS and inspect virtualization status in Windows Task Manager. Hyper-V, Windows Hypervisor Platform, Virtual Machine Platform, and other emulators can affect how the virtualization layer is used. The exact interaction depends on your BlueStacks build and Windows configuration, so do not disable security or virtualization features blindly.

Fix common Knives Out BlueStacks problems

Symptom Likely causes First fixes
Knives Out is missing Region, account, cache, or incompatible instance Verify NetEase Games, restart BlueStacks, check the Play country, and sign in again
Installation is stuck Network, storage, cache, or security software Wait for resources, check free space, restart, and check whether security software is blocking access
Black screen or crash Drivers, renderer, resources, RAM, or compatibility Update BlueStacks and drivers, lower settings, and try the alternate renderer
Low or unstable FPS Resolution, background load, thermals, or resource limits Lower resolution, close applications, cap FPS, and check temperatures
Mouse will not aim Shooting mode or control-profile issue Enable shooting mode, restore the profile, and confirm that the game has focus
Gamepad is absent Device detection or mapping Connect it before launch, confirm BlueStacks detects it, and remap if necessary
Login or synchronization trouble Wrong sign-in method or region Use the original supported game-account method and confirm the server region
Warning or restriction Automation, modification, or policy concerns Stop scripts or modified files and review current publisher rules

The game does not appear in Google Play

  1. Confirm the listing name and publisher.
  2. Check the Google account’s Play country and regional availability.
  3. Restart BlueStacks and Google Play.
  4. Clear the Google Play Store cache through Android settings.
  5. Sign out of Google Play and sign back in.
  6. Check for BlueStacks updates.
  7. Create a fresh Android instance only if current support guidance recommends it.

Do not treat a random APK as the default solution. If you must investigate sideloading, use only a source you can verify and understand that unofficial packages carry additional security and compatibility risks.

Installation is stuck

Check that you have more than the listed 10 GB baseline available, because updates and in-game resources need additional space. Confirm network access inside the emulator, restart BlueStacks, and reboot the computer if necessary. Check whether security software is blocking the installer or game, but do not permanently disable antivirus protection. If the installation is corrupted, reinstall using the official BlueStacks installer.

Black screen, crash, or immediate close

  1. Update BlueStacks.
  2. Update graphics drivers from your computer or chipset manufacturer.
  3. Restart the emulator and computer.
  4. Lower resolution and in-game graphics.
  5. Try the alternate graphics renderer exposed in the current BlueStacks settings.
  6. Clear the game cache first; avoid clearing data until you understand the account consequences.
  7. Reinstall only after confirming your game credentials and save status.
  8. Check official BlueStacks support and Knives Out channels for a current compatibility issue.

Lag and unstable FPS

Separate network problems from rendering problems. High ping, rubber-banding, and delayed hit registration suggest latency; low FPS and visual stutter suggest rendering; performance that worsens after prolonged play suggests heat or throttling.

  • Use Ethernet or a strong 5 GHz/6 GHz Wi-Fi connection.
  • Stop downloads and streaming on the same network.
  • Lower emulator resolution and game graphics.
  • Cap FPS at a stable value rather than chasing the highest number.
  • Close other emulators and virtual machines.
  • Use Eco Mode only for suitable background or multi-instance tasks; it is not automatically appropriate for the active competitive game instance.

A network optimizer cannot fix low FPS, insufficient RAM, outdated drivers, or emulator overhead. The official Knives Out site mentions GearUP, but that should be treated as a publisher-site recommendation—not a guaranteed fix or requirement.

  • Mechanical Circular D-pad: Designed for quick reactions and accuracy in every direction, this D-pad elevates your gaming experience with superior responsiveness.

Account safety and competitive-play policies

Use the official Google Play game listing, an unmodified BlueStacks installation, and supported login methods. Do not use cheats, injected files, unauthorized scripts, or automation in competitive play.

BlueStacks advertises macros, scripts, repeated taps, and multi-instance features for some game setups. The existence of an emulator feature does not establish that NetEase permits its use. Read the current Knives Out user agreement and publisher rules, and do not assume that emulator use is risk-free or officially endorsed.

BlueStacks compared with other ways to play

BlueStacks on Windows

BlueStacks is a reasonable fit if you want the Android version on a Windows PC, keyboard-and-mouse mapping, controller support, recording, or other emulator features. It is less attractive on weak hardware, systems where virtualization conflicts with work tools, or when you need a guaranteed native-PC competitive experience.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

BlueStacks Air on Apple Silicon Mac

BlueStacks Air is the relevant current BlueStacks route for M1–M4 Macs with at least 8 GB RAM. It is not a universal answer for Intel Macs, older macOS installations, or every Android game’s control scheme.

Google Play Games on PC

Google Play Games on PC is an official Windows platform, but do not assume that Knives Out is supported simply because it appears on Google Play. Check the current Google Play Games catalog and compatibility badge for your country.

Google’s published minimums include Windows 10 version 2004, 8 GB RAM, 10 GB of SSD space, four physical CPU cores, and hardware virtualization. It is Windows-only and may not provide the same emulator controls or compatibility as BlueStacks.

Mobile play

Android and iOS remain the publisher’s primary platforms. A current phone or tablet avoids emulator-specific compatibility issues, although it does not provide the same desktop display, mouse, recording, or streaming workflow.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Is BlueStacks worth using for Knives Out?

For Windows users and Apple Silicon Mac owners with adequate hardware, BlueStacks is a practical way to try the Android version of Knives Out on a larger screen with customizable input. Start with the official installer and Google Play listing, use conservative graphics settings, and verify the control profile rather than trusting old key maps.

The setup is a poorer fit if your Mac is unsupported, your computer only meets the dated minimum, virtualization is unavailable, or you require guaranteed native-PC support and publisher-approved competitive compatibility. Meeting the listed requirements does not guarantee a particular FPS, graphics quality, login result, or uninterrupted compatibility after future game updates.
