The PS5 can recognize the peripherals, Roblox supports keyboard text entry for PlayStation chat, and individual experience creators decide whether movement, camera control, clicking, aiming, and custom actions work.
That means the correct test is not simply whether the PS5 detects your devices. You must connect them, open Roblox, and test them inside the specific experience you want to play.
What you need
- A PS5 connected to the internet
- The Roblox app installed from the PlayStation Store
- A Roblox account, with Quick Login available if needed
- A USB, Bluetooth, or 2.4 GHz wireless keyboard and mouse
- Available USB ports if using wired devices or a wireless receiver
- A DualSense controller for setup, menus, and fallback control
Roblox is available on PS4 and PS5 in select countries. The current native PS5 app launched on April 14, 2026, and the PlayStation Store lists it as free to play with online play required. See the Roblox PlayStation FAQ and the PlayStation Store listing for availability in your region.
Connect a wired USB keyboard and mouse
- Turn on the PS5 and sign in.
- Plug the keyboard into a USB port on the console.
- Plug the mouse into another USB port.
- Open Settings.
- Go to Accessories > Other Accessories.
- Confirm that the keyboard and mouse appear as detected devices.
- Adjust available options such as keyboard language, key-repeat delay, key-repeat rate, mouse handedness, or pointer speed.
- Launch Roblox and test the devices inside an experience.
Wired USB devices are usually the simplest starting point because they avoid Bluetooth pairing and battery problems. A basic keyboard and mouse are sufficient for testing; RGB lighting, macros, polling-rate controls, and PC configuration software may not work on PS5.

Connect a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse
Pair each device separately unless your keyboard-and-mouse set is designed as a unified Bluetooth product.
- Put the keyboard or mouse into pairing mode.
- On the PS5 home screen, open Settings.
- Select Accessories > General > Bluetooth Accessories.
- Select the device when it appears.
- Repeat the process for the second device.
If a paired device does not reconnect, return to Settings > Accessories > General > Bluetooth Accessories, select the registered device, and choose Connect.
Sony warns that not every keyboard or mouse is compatible with PS5. A device appearing in the Bluetooth list does not prove that it will connect or work fully. If pairing fails, try a wired connection or the device’s USB wireless receiver instead. The official setup instructions are available in PlayStation’s keyboard and mouse support guide.
Use a wireless keyboard and mouse receiver
For a 2.4 GHz wireless set, connect its USB receiver directly to the PS5, then switch on the keyboard and mouse. Some combos use one receiver for both devices, which saves a USB port. Others use separate receivers.

Receiver-based wireless devices can be convenient, but compatibility depends on the receiver as well as the peripherals. Battery level, receiver interference, power-saving behavior, and unsupported wireless modes can cause intermittent disconnections. If problems continue, test the devices in wired mode.
Install and launch Roblox on PS5
- Open the PlayStation Store.
- Search for Roblox.
- Select the Roblox app and choose Add to Library or the installation option shown.
- Start Roblox from your Game Library.
- Sign in with your Roblox account. If offered, use Quick Login with a phone or computer.
Connecting a keyboard and mouse does not create a Roblox account, bypass account linking, or change parental-control restrictions. Keep the DualSense nearby because Roblox menus and some experiences may still require controller input.

Test keyboard and mouse gameplay inside Roblox
Device detection in PS5 settings only confirms console-level compatibility. Use this test inside the actual experience:
- Join the experience you want to play.
- Move the mouse over the game and click inside the game area.
- Press W, A, S, and D to test movement.
- Press Space where jumping is available.
- Move the mouse to check whether the camera responds.
- Left-click an object, button, tool, or target.
- Try documented number keys or interaction keys.
- Open the Roblox menu with the controller and check the experience’s Help section for controls.
Roblox’s Help menu may list keyboard shortcuts and mouse instructions, but the available controls depend on the experience. Roblox generally supports mouse-and-keyboard input, including mouse camera behavior and, where enabled by the experience, Shift Lock. What the test results mean

Use the keyboard for Roblox chat
Roblox officially supports a connected USB or Bluetooth keyboard as an alternative text-entry method for PlayStation chat in supported situations.
- Press Options on the DualSense.
- Select Chat.
- Type with the connected keyboard instead of the on-screen keyboard.
- Press R2 to send.
Chat availability depends on the experience and account settings, and messages remain subject to Roblox filtering. Keyboard chat support should not be confused with full gameplay support. Roblox’s PlayStation documentation also explains what features are available on the platform.
Why Roblox gameplay support varies on PS5
There are three separate compatibility layers:
- Console-level compatibility: The PS5 detects and registers the keyboard or mouse.
- App-level compatibility: Roblox can receive input from the device.
- Experience-level compatibility: The specific Roblox game uses that input for movement, camera control, aiming, interaction, or abilities.
The first layer does not guarantee the second, and the second does not guarantee the third. Roblox experiences have different controls, mechanics, and platform implementations. Developers may support controller input only, basic keyboard movement, mouse camera control, or a much broader PC-style control scheme.
Cross-platform play does not change this limitation. PlayStation users can play with people on PC, Mac, mobile, Xbox, and Meta Quest where supported, but players on different platforms may still receive different input options.

Troubleshoot common problems
The PS5 does not detect the keyboard or mouse
- Unplug and reconnect the device.
- Try another USB port.
- Test the device in a PS5 text field.
- For wireless devices, check batteries and connect the receiver directly to the console.
- For Bluetooth devices, charge them and put them back into pairing mode.
- Restart the PS5 and test again.
- Try a basic wired USB keyboard or mouse.
Some advanced peripherals depend on PC software, proprietary drivers, or unsupported features. Basic input may work even when lighting, macros, extra buttons, or profile controls do not.
The keyboard works in chat but not in gameplay
This is usually experience-specific rather than proof that the keyboard is broken. Close and relaunch Roblox after connecting the device, test a second experience, and check the in-experience Help menu. If the second experience also ignores gameplay input, retain the controller for play or use Roblox on a computer for experiences that require extensive keyboard controls.
The mouse works in menus but not in the experience
This indicates that pointer input is functioning at the PS5 or app level, but the experience may not use mouse input for gameplay. Test camera movement, clicking, and another experience before replacing the mouse.
Only WASD, Space, Tab, and Escape work
That can be partial support. An experience may accept basic movement and menu keys while ignoring number keys, abilities, tools, or custom bindings. Check the experience’s own instructions rather than assuming the device is faulty.

Bluetooth appears but will not connect
- Charge the device.
- Disconnect it from a phone or computer that may still be using it.
- Put it into pairing mode again.
- Restart the PS5.
- Try its USB receiver or a cable if available.
- Test another keyboard or mouse.
Sony specifically notes that incompatible Bluetooth devices may still appear in the discovery list.
The wireless device disconnects
Recharge or replace its batteries, move the receiver to a direct PS5 USB port, and avoid relying on Bluetooth if the device also supports a receiver. Wired mode is the quickest way to identify whether the wireless connection is the problem.

The experience still shows controller, Xbox, or PC prompts
Prompts can lag behind the active input method or reflect how the developer updated the experience for PlayStation. Incorrect-looking prompts are not conclusive proof that keyboard and mouse input is unavailable. Test the controls directly.
Switch back to the DualSense
- Move the mouse away from the game and press a controller button.
- Press Options to open the Roblox menu.
- Disconnect or switch off the keyboard and mouse if they interfere with navigation.
- Restart Roblox after changing input devices.
- Reconnect the DualSense if it has gone to sleep.
Roblox may change its prompts according to the most recently used input type, and some experiences may continue showing controller prompts even when keyboard input is available.

If you are buying peripherals specifically for PS5 Roblox, start with a standard wired USB keyboard and mouse or a simple single-receiver wireless combo. Premium gaming hardware cannot make an unsupported Roblox experience accept keyboard and mouse input.
When a controller or PC is better
Use the DualSense when an experience is designed around console controls, provides poor keyboard support, or mixes controller and keyboard input awkwardly. You can also use the keyboard for chat while keeping the controller for gameplay.
For experiences that require full PC-style controls, Roblox on Windows or Mac is the safer option. Roblox’s Creator Hub documents keyboard and mouse as standard desktop input types, although individual experiences can still implement controls differently.
Keyboard-and-mouse adapters that emulate a controller are not the same as native support. They can add input lag, inconsistent mappings, setup complexity, and possible game-specific policy concerns. Test native USB, receiver, or Bluetooth input first rather than treating an adapter as an official Roblox or PlayStation solution.

Buying advice
Use peripherals you already own before spending money. If you need a setup, prioritize standard connectivity and simple plug-and-play operation:
- Basic wired keyboard: A standard USB model is suitable for chat and compatibility testing. Logitech’s K120 is one example.
- Basic wired mouse: A standard USB mouse avoids pairing and battery variables. Logitech’s M100 is one example.
- Single-receiver wireless combo: A set such as Logitech’s MK270 can save a USB port.
Availability and prices vary by country, layout, color, and retailer. Do not buy an expensive RGB or esports setup solely to unlock Roblox on PS5: the decisive limitation may be the individual experience, not the accessory.
