This archived NYT Connections puzzle was game #922, released for Friday, December 19, 2025. The 16 tiles form groups about findings, dinner options, U.S. cabinet departments, and words that sound like places where ships can be parked.

Hints for Connections #922

Try these clues before reading the complete solution:

  1. Yellow: Things you might learn or uncover.
  2. Green: Ways to handle dinner.
  3. Blue: Federal departments whose names describe broad areas of responsibility.
  4. Purple: Say the words aloud; each resembles a nautical place for a ship.

One tile from each group

  • Yellow: DETAILS
  • Green: GO OUT
  • Blue: LABOR
  • Purple: WORF

Answers for NYT Connections #922

Color Category Tiles
Yellow Findings DATA, DETAILS, INFORMATION, INTELLIGENCE
Green Dinner options COOK, DELIVERY, GO OUT, LEFTOVERS
Blue U.S. cabinet departments COMMERCE, EDUCATION, ENERGY, LABOR
Purple Homophones of places to park a ship BIRTH, DOC, PEER, WORF

Why the purple group works

The purple category depends on sound rather than spelling. BIRTH sounds like berth, DOC like dock, PEER like pier, and WORF like wharf. Each standard nautical word can describe a place where a vessel is secured.

How this archived puzzle fits the game

Connections presents 16 tiles that must be sorted into four groups of four. Deliberate overlaps and red herrings make several combinations appear plausible, and four incorrect guesses end the game. The daily puzzle is available through NYT Games on desktop or mobile. Access to earlier puzzles, including this one, is included with an NYT All Access or Games subscription, according to Forbes.

The December 19 date can look different around the release boundary: the reports covering #922 were published on December 18 in U.S. time, while describing the puzzle as going live at midnight local time.
