Warframe launched globally on Android on February 18, 2026, and is available through Google Play in regions where the game is supported. It is the main free-to-play action game—not a separate mobile spin-off—with cross-platform play and account progression. Before downloading, check your phone’s compatibility, reserve room for roughly 14 GB of game data, and take care when linking an existing account.
What launched on Android?
Digital Extremes brought the full Warframe experience to Android: a third-person sci-fi action game built around cooperative missions, cinematic quests, parkour movement, gun and melee combat, Warframe abilities, crafting, and customization. The Google Play description also lists open-world areas and spacecraft content. The release followed a Canadian soft launch on February 11, 2026, then a global launch on February 18. Android had previously been announced for a closed beta in fall 2025. These are minimum compatibility requirements, not a guarantee of high settings or smooth performance. Chipset, heat and thermal throttling, screen resolution, graphics settings, background apps, and free storage can all affect how the game runs. The most direct device-specific check is whether the official app listing appears in Google Play for your phone or tablet. How much storage does the download need?
Digital Extremes’ FAQ describes a staged installation: roughly 4 GB from Google Play initially, then about 10 GB of additional game data after the tutorial or Vor’s Prize, or after setting up Cross Platform Save. The FAQ puts the total at approximately 14 GB. The actual installed size can change as the game is updated, so leave more than that amount free for downloads, extraction, updates, and cache files. How to install Warframe safely
- Open Google Play and search for Warframe by Digital Extremes, or use the official Google Play listing.
- Check that the listing is the Digital Extremes app and that Google Play offers it for your device and region.
- Install the initial package, open the game, and complete account setup.
- Allow the game to download its additional data; the Play Store package is not the complete installation.
- If you already play elsewhere, pause before linking accounts and follow the Cross Platform Save steps below.
If the app does not appear, the FAQ says your device or region may not currently be supported. Android version, architecture, memory, compatibility filtering, regional availability, or the Google Play account and device configuration may be factors. Do not treat an unofficial APK mirror, social-media download link, third-party store, or “free Platinum” modified APK as a safe workaround when the official listing is unavailable.
How to use an existing account—and avoid a costly mistake
To continue an existing account on Android, use Cross Platform Save account linking. This is not the same as merging two inventories: the limited-time account-merging feature ended on January 17, 2025. - Install and open the Android game, then complete its initial account setup.
- Go to Warframe’s Account Management/Cross Platform progression page.
- Link the Android account to the Cross Platform Save account you intend to use.
- Before confirming, check the account names and select the intended Primary Account.
- Reopen the game and confirm that the expected progression and inventory appear.
Important: Account linking is effectively permanent for the unified account. The Primary Account determines the progression and inventory used across linked platforms; the other account’s old progress will not remain as an alternate profile after linking. If progress seems missing, first check that you signed into the right Warframe account, verify the linked account and Primary Account on the management page, and restart the game. Do not casually create another link or switch the Primary Account.

Yes. Cross Platform Play connects Android players with PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and iOS players. It supports public matchmaking and cross-platform squads, as well as chat, Relays, and Dojos. The setting is in Options → Cross Platform Play, where it can be enabled or disabled. Platform icons and numeric suffixes can help distinguish players with similar names; non-PC players can also have spaces in aliases, which affects whisper syntax. For cross-platform squads involving a Dojo, the guide advises loading into the Dojo before inviting players from another platform. Trading has additional account and two-factor authentication rules, and Nintendo Switch Platinum trading has restrictions.

Touch controls, controllers, and keyboard support
The touch interface puts movement on the left side of the screen and camera control on the right, with virtual buttons for aiming, shooting, jumping, crouching, melee, abilities, and weapon cycling. Touch is the built-in option, but the game’s fast movement, aiming, menus, and ability combinations may make a physical controller more comfortable for some players. Digital Extremes names DualSense, Xbox Wireless Controllers, 8BitDo controllers, Razer Kishi, and Backbone among supported examples. Bluetooth and USB peripherals are supported, but compatibility can vary by Android device and controller model. Keyboard-and-mouse support is not available on Android at this time. Content updates, costs, and launch offers
Digital Extremes says Android uses the same public content build and follows the same update cadence as other platforms. The FAQ’s named build at launch is historical, not a current version number; check the official Android patch notes for current build details. Google Play displayed an update date of July 29, 2026, when its listing was checked on August 18, 2026. The same listing showed a 4.1-star rating, about 29,800 reviews, and 1M+ downloads on that date; these store figures change over time. Google Play listing

The game is free to install and lists in-app purchases. Players who downloaded and logged in by March 4, 2026 could qualify for the Cumulus Collection, which included the Cirrus Armor Bundle, Cumulus Syandana, Stratus Pistol Skin, Spektaka Color Palette, and a three-day Resource Booster. New players had to complete The Awakening Quest; returning players had to set up Cross Platform Save. That deadline has passed. The launch announcement also promoted a one-time Fulmin Battlekit for newer players, containing a Fulmin rifle, Split Chamber mod, Opula Ephemera, and three-day Affinity, Credit, and Resource Boosters; it did not state a price. It is a practical option for an existing Tenno who wants to continue playing away from a PC or console, or for an Android player comfortable with a large online game and cooperative missions. It is a less convenient fit for an older or unsupported device, a phone with little spare storage, someone relying on mobile data for large downloads, or a player who requires keyboard and mouse. A controller is optional, but may suit players who prefer physical controls for aiming and movement.
Common installation and account problems
The app is missing from Google Play
Check Android 12 or newer, 64-bit ARM64 architecture, and at least 4 GB RAM. If those minimums are met but the listing remains unavailable, Play Store compatibility or regional availability may still be the reason. Use the official FAQ for support rather than bypassing store filtering with an APK.

The game asks for another large download
This is expected after the initial package: the FAQ estimates about 10 GB of further data after the early tutorial or Cross Platform Save setup. Make room before proceeding and use Wi-Fi if possible.
Progress or inventory looks wrong
Confirm the Warframe login, the Cross Platform Save link, and the Primary Account on the account-management page, then restart the game. Because linking is effectively permanent, contact official support rather than experimenting with new links if the account shown is not the one you intended.
