The GameSir G7 SE is a wired Xbox and Windows controller with Hall Effect sticks and triggers, two mappable rear buttons, and a detachable 3-meter cable. It has been reported below $40, but that price is not verified as a live offer: Windows Central previously reported $39.99 at Walmart and $38.24 at Amazon, while GameSir’s indexed product page lists the standard controller at $44.99. Check the retailer’s current listing, seller, color, shipping, and checkout total before buying.
Is the G7 SE under $40 right now?
The available price reports establish that the G7 SE has sold below $40, not that either deal remains active today. Windows Central reported a $39.99 Walmart price in one deal article and a separate $38.24 Amazon price in another. Those reports do not confirm present stock, shipping charges, seller, coupon requirements, or return terms. GameSir’s indexed official product page shows $44.99 for the standard model.
| Price reference | What the source reported | What it establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Walmart | $39.99, reported by Windows Central | A previously reported deal; not proof of a current price or availability. |
| Amazon | $38.24, reported by Windows Central | A separate past sale price; check the current seller and listing. |
| GameSir | $44.99 on the indexed official product page | A manufacturer reference price, not confirmation of a third-party offer. |
No current sub-$40 retailer offer, specific qualifying color, live stock status, shipping charge, checkout discount, or deal end time is established here. Don’t treat a search snippet or an old article as a live deal. Compare the exact G7 SE variant and the final checkout price, including tax and shipping; also verify the seller and return policy. A lower price on a different color, bundle, or seller may not be a like-for-like deal.
What the GameSir G7 SE offers
The G7 SE is an officially licensed wired controller for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10/11. Its mix of magnetic-sensing controls and rear buttons makes it more configurable than a basic pad, but it remains a wired, two-button-back-control design rather than a full-featured wireless pro controller.

Hall Effect sticks reduce one drift risk, not every failure
Hall Effect sensors detect stick movement magnetically rather than through the conventional physical-contact sensing used in many potentiometer-based modules. That design is intended to reduce wear-related drift at the sensing stage. It does not make a controller immune to every control problem: dust, mechanical wear elsewhere, calibration issues, firmware faults, or damage can still affect operation. Hall Effect is a useful buying feature, not a lifetime guarantee.
Rank #2
- Versatile Compatibility: Supports Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One X/S consoles, and PC Win10 and above (including the Steam game platform).
- Precise Control: Features Hall Joysticks and Hall trigger for comfortable feel, long life, and enhanced gaming accuracy.
- Plug-and-Play Convenience: USB wired connection (detachable) for easy setup and instant gaming without the need for additional drivers.
- Customizable Experience: Includes 2 custom back keys, allowing users to eliminate false triggers and enhance their gaming experience.
- Immersive Gameplay: Offers pulse type vibration trigger motor and asymmetric vibration grip motor for immersive tactile feedback.
The analog Hall Effect triggers can register variable pressure, which suits games that use graduated acceleration or aiming input. The G7 SE specifications do not list trigger locks, so buyers seeking short-travel trigger stops should not assume they are included.
What the 1,000Hz polling claim means
Windows Central’s deal coverage highlights a polling rate of up to 1,000Hz on PC. Polling rate describes how often a controller can report input to its host; it is not the same as total input latency, which includes the controller, system, game, and display. Nor does a PC maximum establish that Xbox receives the same update rate or that every game will respond faster. Treat 1,000Hz as a PC-focused specification claim, not a guarantee of lower in-game latency.

- TMR Sticks: The G7 Pro features GameSir's Mag-Res TMR sticks, combining Hall Effect durability with traditional potentiometer performance. This advanced technology delivers stable polling rates for smooth, drift-free gaming with low power consumption.

- 1000Hz Polling Rate on PC: Experience ultra-responsive gaming with a 1000Hz polling rate on PC, available through both wired and 2.4G wireless connections. This ensures instantaneous input registration, reducing lag and optimizing your performance for the most competitive gameplay.
- GameSir Nexus App: The G7 Pro is compatible with the upgraded GameSir Nexus app, which brings a significant upgrade over the original. It introduces powerful new features such as gyro settings, stick curve adjustments, and button-to-mouse mapping, giving you deeper customization and more control than ever before.
Customization and rear buttons
GameSir Nexus supports button remapping, stick- and trigger-zone adjustments, vibration settings, and profile switching. PC owners can configure the controller on Windows; Xbox owners may use the Xbox version of Nexus or a Windows PC for some configuration and troubleshooting. App behavior and the persistence of settings across platforms can vary, so check the current app rather than assuming every option transfers identically.
The two rear buttons can move commonly used actions—such as jump, reload, melee, sprint, or weapon changes—to fingers that stay on the sticks. Quick-latch switches let you disable the rear controls when you do not want them or are concerned about accidental presses. Two buttons are useful, but they are not equivalent to four paddles, adjustable stick tension, interchangeable thumbsticks, or trigger stops found on some higher-tier controllers.

The trade-offs to consider
Wired-only use
There is no Bluetooth or 2.4GHz wireless mode and no battery to charge. The detachable cable is approximately 3 meters long, which can be convenient at a nearby desk or console but restrictive for distant couch play. Wired operation avoids charging and wireless pairing, but cable placement remains part of every session.
Membrane face buttons
The ABXY buttons are membrane, not mechanical click switches. They may suit buyers who prefer a softer, quieter press; those looking for crisp, clicky actuation should consider another model. The controller also does not list adjustable stick tension or trigger locks.

Best Value

Limited platform scope
The documented compatibility is Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10/11. For PC, check that your game recognizes an Xbox-compatible XInput controller and that you have a working USB port. Do not infer PlayStation, Switch, phone, or Mac support from the cable alone.
Quick Recap
Who should buy it?
- Xbox owners replacing a worn controller: Hall Effect sticks and triggers, headset support, and a mic-mute button are useful features if a cable is acceptable.
- Windows players on a budget: It combines two rear controls and customization with documented Windows 10/11 support.
- Players who want to avoid charging: The wired connection means no battery to recharge, though it also means the controller must stay connected by cable.
- Buyers finding a verified offer below $40: At that price, it is a compelling feature set for someone who values Hall Effect controls and does not need wireless play.
Who should skip it?
- Choose another controller if wireless use, distant couch play, or freedom from a cable is essential.
- Look elsewhere for PlayStation, Switch, mobile, or Mac compatibility; those platforms are not in GameSir’s documented list.
- Consider a higher-tier model if you specifically need four rear paddles, adjustable stick tension, interchangeable sticks, trigger stops, or premium mechanical face buttons.
- Compare carefully if the official $44.99 reference price is what you find: the controller may still suit your needs, but it is no longer the advertised sub-$40 bargain.
Quick setup checks if it does not work
- Connect it directly to the Xbox or PC rather than through an unpowered hub.
- Check that the detachable cable is fully seated at both ends; test another USB port or cable if it disconnects.
- On Windows, confirm the controller appears as an Xbox/XInput device and that the game supports that input type.
- Open or install GameSir Nexus to check configuration and firmware; use the current app rather than relying on unverified menu names or reset combinations.
- Test sticks and triggers before changing dead zones. If one game behaves incorrectly, reset custom mappings or profiles before concluding the controller is defective.
- For an Xbox issue, test in more than one game to determine whether the problem is game-specific.
