For the Windows version of Cyberpunk 2077, the 1.05-era Ryzen SMT workaround is an unofficial edit to Cyberpunk2077.exe: on the 1.05 executable pattern documented by HotHardware, change its first byte from 75 to EB. Back up the file first, and do not apply those bytes to a different game build. For later versions, use the game’s built-in SMT setting if it is available instead.
What update 1.05 changed
CD PROJEKT RED’s Hotfix 1.05 notes say the game optimized default core and thread utilization for 4- and 6-core AMD Ryzen processors. The notes say 8-, 12-, and 16-core processors remained unchanged and were behaving as intended.

The publisher said it made the change with AMD’s cooperation and based it on testing that found a performance improvement only on CPUs with six cores or fewer. That explains the patch’s scope; it does not establish that every higher-core Ryzen system performs best without a workaround.
How to apply the 1.05-era hex edit
This procedure applies only if your installed Windows executable contains the exact 1.05 byte sequence below. Hex-edit instructions are unofficial; CD PROJEKT RED did not publish or support this recipe.

Find
Cyberpunk2077.exein the game’sbinx64folder. -
Make a backup copy of the original executable somewhere safe. You will need it to undo the change.

Open the game executable in a hex editor, such as HxD.

If—and only if—that exact sequence is present, change its first byte from
75toEB. Leave every other byte unchanged, save the file, and launch the game. -
If the game will not start or performance is worse, close it and restore the backup.

Why byte-pattern instructions conflict
Community directions do not all describe the same executable. A Steam community guide documents an earlier sequence beginning 75 30... and an EB replacement; other community posts for 1.05 report a 74 variant. These differences are a reason to verify the bytes in your own executable, not to try each variant. Do not search for a similar-looking sequence or use bytes copied from instructions for another patch or build.
Should you use the edit?
The edit may affect CPU utilization or frame-time behavior on some Ryzen systems, but the available reports do not establish a reliable FPS gain. HotHardware relays user reports of up to an 11% improvement on a Ryzen 7 3700X, a 10% decrease on a Ryzen 9 5900X, and no meaningful change on another Ryzen 9 system. These are individual user results, not controlled benchmarks or predictions for other PCs.

Results can depend on the CPU’s core and CCD layout, GPU limits, graphics settings, and the exact executable build. If you test the edit, compare the same save and gameplay conditions before and after, and restore the backup if it causes problems. Leaving the executable untouched is the lower-risk choice when you cannot confirm the exact pattern or do not want to modify a game file.
For versions newer than 1.05
The 1.05 hex edit is not a general-purpose fix for current versions. CD PROJEKT RED’s Patch 2.13 notes say AMD SMT options were moved to the Settings menu’s Utilities tab. For a later game version, check that in-game control first; it is separate from the old executable edit. Do not assume the 1.05 byte pattern applies to a newer executable.
