Their disclosed differences center on display, memory ceiling and chassis; Acer’s announced regional launch windows are not confirmation of current stock or pricing.
What are Acer’s new Panther Lake gaming laptops?
“Panther Lake” is the familiar name for Intel Core Ultra Series 3, the processor family Acer paired with RTX 50 Series Laptop graphics in these announcements. The three models are the Predator Helios Neo 16S AI (PHN16S-I51), Nitro V 16 AI (ANV16-I51) and Nitro V 16S AI (ANV16S-I51). Acer positions the Predator as the premium OLED system; the two Nitro models are WUXGA 16-inch alternatives, with the 16S designed as the slimmer Nitro.
The specifications below are manufacturer-published maximums or model details, not a promise that every retail configuration combines all listed components. Acer says exact specifications, prices and availability vary by region. Acer’s January 5, 2026 announcement is the primary reference; Tom’s Hardware’s contemporaneous CES report provides additional detail on the Nitro V 16 AI.

The full configuration details for the Nitro V 16 AI were not exposed in Acer’s announcement information summarized here; its listed details come from Tom’s Hardware’s January 5, 2026 report. Verify the regional product page and exact SKU before treating any “up to” specification as the specification of a particular unit.

Predator Helios Neo 16S AI: the OLED option
The Predator’s clearest distinction is its 2560 × 1600 OLED panel, which has a lower listed refresh rate than the Nitro displays—165 Hz versus 180 Hz—but a higher resolution and stated HDR support and P3 color coverage. Its announced memory ceiling is also higher, at 64 GB. Those specifications make it the most feature-rich option on paper, but they do not establish gaming frame rates, display quality in independent testing or battery life.
Nitro V 16S AI: the slimmer Nitro
The 16S combines a WUXGA 1920 × 1200 panel with a 180 Hz refresh rate and MUX switch, and is specified at under 17.9 mm thick. It shares the 2.3 kg listed weight of the Predator, despite the slimmer chassis claim. Buyers should compare resolution and the exact GPU configuration rather than assuming a higher refresh-rate number alone makes it the better gaming display.

Nitro V 16 AI: check the regional SKU
Acer announced the standard Nitro V 16 AI as part of the same Series 3 and RTX 50 lineup. Contemporaneous reporting listed configurations up to Core Ultra 7 355, RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, 32 GB DDR5, 2 TB NVMe SSD and a 180 Hz WUXGA display with MUX switch. Because Acer’s announcement did not expose a complete specification table for this model in the available material, confirm its exact regional configuration before comparing it with the 16S.
When were the laptops expected to launch?
Acer’s January 2026 announcement gave regional launch windows, not current inventory dates. The windows differed by model and market:

That is Acer’s stated capability; the published material does not provide independent validation, gaming benchmarks, battery tests or hands-on results. Treat the processor and GPU names as configuration information, not as proof of a particular level of gaming performance.

How should you choose among them?
- Choose based on display first: the Predator offers the higher-resolution OLED panel; both Nitro models are specified with WUXGA screens and 180 Hz refresh rates.
- Match the exact configuration: “up to” CPU, GPU, memory and storage figures describe the product range, not necessarily one SKU. Check the full product code and regional listing.
- Compare portability by both dimensions: Acer lists the 16S Nitro as under 17.9 mm thick, but at 2.3 kg; thickness alone does not make it lighter.
- Wait for region-specific pricing and stock information: Acer’s launch schedule was a plan, while current store listings may refer to other model years or configurations.
