The first-person psychological horror game follows Maya, a young woman who takes a job at a new branch of Risa’s boba shop and finds that routine shifts are becoming increasingly unsettling.
What is The Boba Teashop: Refill?
Refill pairs the rhythms of a boba-shop job with psychological horror. Maya’s work involves taking orders, preparing drinks with tea, milk, boba and other ingredients, sealing them, serving customers and cleaning the shop. Customer reviews, pressure from manager Vanessa, uncomfortable conversations, odd noises and strange encounters gradually turn that everyday routine into a source of unease.
The announced locations include the customer area, preparation counter, office, storage room, corridors, bathroom, rear exit and parking area. The developers describe changes in lighting and sound, alongside Maya’s worsening perception, as part of how the familiar workplace becomes unsettling. These are announced design details, not independently verified gameplay findings.
How does Refill connect to the original game?
The game remains in the world of the original The Boba Teashop, but it has a new protagonist, location and narrative. Maya works at a newly opened branch connected to Risa’s shop. The developers described it as “a standalone story, with a new protagonist, a new location, and its own narrative,” and said players do not need prior knowledge of the first game to follow it.

Some creators associated with the original are expected to appear as customers. The interview names Yotobi, Knite and Suzi Hunter, known as The Sphere Hunter; the reveal coverage also names Kodomo. The developers said some creators provide voices for their in-game counterparts.
What did the developers reveal about its structure and production?
In an October 1, 2026 interview with Insider Gaming, the developers said the project had been in development since 2025 and takes place over one week. Their design goal is to let players learn the shop routine before disrupting it. They identified balancing work simulation with horror as a central challenge.

The developers also described expanded presentation compared with the original: full voice acting, facial animation and more elaborate cinematics. They reported a cast of more than 20 people; that is a team-provided figure, not an independently audited count.
