Darmoshark launched the original M5 in China in June 2024 at a reported price of 399 yuan. Its defining combination is a roughly 38g fingertip-grip shape, a PixArt PAW3395 sensor, wired/2.4GHz/Bluetooth connectivity and advertised polling up to 8,000Hz. The 8K headline is not a guarantee of lower-feeling latency for every player, and the mouse’s small shape is a more important buying question than its maximum DPI.
What launched, and when?
The Darmoshark M5 is a lightweight gaming mouse aimed at fingertip-grip users. Chinese coverage reported it listed in early June 2024, with first sales reported for June 6 and availability covered by June 8. Its reported China launch price was 399 yuan, with JD.com named as the initial retail channel; launch coverage listed black and white options. Those are historical China launch details, not a current international price or stock guarantee. Who is the M5 for?
The main purchase decision is the shape. Darmoshark positions the M5 for fingertip grip, where the palm rests largely off the shell and the fingers steer the mouse. Its approximately 38g weight and compact dimensions may appeal to players who prefer a very light mouse and fine finger-led adjustments.
That same design may feel unstable or uncomfortable to people who use palm grip, have larger hands, or want a pronounced rear hump for palm support. There is no hand-size recommendation established by the launch material, so treat fit as something to verify from the actual dimensions or by trying the specific model. Weight alone does not make a mouse a good fit.

Specifications and what is confirmed
The official Darmoshark M5 product page continues to list the model, but does not expose a complete searchable text specification table or a clear current US price. The detailed figures below are reported in launch or seller specifications; figures identified as seller claims are not independent test results.

Most of the component, dimension and battery details in the table come from the seller’s specification listing. The listing describes its receiver inconsistently as “4K” while also advertising 8K support. Check the receiver and exact product revision for the package being sold rather than assuming every regional version offers the same polling configuration.

What do three modes and 8K polling mean?
Three ways to connect
- 2.4GHz wireless: the wireless connection intended for gaming. High polling claims concern wired and 2.4GHz use, subject to the receiver and software.
- Bluetooth: a convenient option for general use and compatible devices. Seller specifications list Bluetooth at 125Hz by default and not adjustable; it should not be treated as an 8K gaming mode.
- USB-C wired: a direct connection that can also charge the mouse.
What 8,000Hz changes
Polling rate is how often a mouse reports its state to the computer. At 1,000Hz, the nominal interval between reports is 1 millisecond; at 8,000Hz it is 0.125 milliseconds. That 0.125ms number is the report interval, not total click-to-screen or end-to-end input latency.
Higher polling can provide more frequent motion updates, but its practical value depends on the game, display refresh rate, frame rate, USB/controller path, firmware and CPU overhead. It is most relevant to high-refresh-rate setups and players sensitive to motion granularity; it does not automatically make the mouse perceptibly faster for everyone. Higher rates also use more power and can add system workload.

Sensor specifications are not a performance test
The PAW3395’s advertised ceiling of 26,000 DPI and 650 IPS describes sensor capability, not proof that the complete mouse has superior tracking or latency. Firmware tuning, lift-off distance, motion delay, wireless stability, surface behavior and manufacturing consistency also affect the experience. Launch coverage does not establish independent measurements for those qualities or validate the advertised switch lifespan.
Battery claims and the 8K trade-off
The seller specification lists the following claimed runtimes. These are not independently measured results, and the surfaced material does not establish a reliable 8,000Hz runtime.

For longer use between charges, 1K is the conservative setting; 2K or 4K may be a compromise for someone who wants more frequent reports without running at the maximum rate. Use 8K when the system and game benefit enough to justify the extra power draw, rather than assuming it is the best everyday setting.

Seller compatibility information lists the driver as Windows-only, with driver functions for DPI, polling rate, macros and button customization. The same listing says the mouse can operate in wired and 2.4GHz modes on Windows XP through Windows 11 and macOS, and in Bluetooth mode on Windows 8/10/11 and macOS. These are seller-listed compatibility claims, not confirmation that every function works equally on every macOS release. Mac users who need to change settings may need access to a Windows computer. The seller’s listing provides the stated compatibility details.

Price, availability and model identity
The 399-yuan figure belongs to the June 2024 China launch; it should not be converted into a current US MSRP. Darmoshark’s official M5 listing does not establish current US pricing or stock. Availability and asking price can vary by seller and market, so check the exact listing and its return and warranty terms before buying.
Also verify that a listing is for the original PAW3395 M5, not a later M5-branded model such as the M5 Air or M5 Pro. Darmoshark’s product catalog and current homepage provide context for its broader lineup; model names alone are not enough to confirm that two listings share specifications.
What to check if 8K is unavailable
If software or a polling-rate test does not show 8K, check the connection and configuration before concluding that the mouse is faulty:
