It is not a current “best” pick: it is absent from GameSir’s catalog as checked August 18, 2026, and a used unit’s battery, receiver and compatibility matter more than its original specifications. Buy only after confirming that the 2.4GHz receiver is included and working.
What the GameSir G4S is—and who it suits
The G4S is an older wireless controller designed primarily for Android devices and Windows PCs. Its documented connection options are Bluetooth, 2.4GHz through a USB receiver, and wired USB. It also has a fold-out phone holder, vibration, Turbo functionality and several input modes. Those options made it versatile for its era; they do not guarantee compatibility with every current phone, operating system or game.
GameSir’s current mobile-controller collection lists newer models rather than the G4S. The company’s catalog does not establish an explicit discontinuation announcement, so the precise conclusion is that the G4S is not currently listed there, as checked August 18, 2026. GameSir’s mobile-controller collection
- Good bargain: A complete, tested unit at a very low price, with the receiver and a battery that holds a charge.
- Niche purchase: You specifically want its full-size layout, integrated phone holder, Android Bluetooth or legacy PC connection modes.
- Poor buy: It is priced near a modern controller, the receiver is missing, the battery is untested, or the seller cannot demonstrate pairing.
Skip it if you need iPhone or iPad support, USB-C, Hall-effect sticks, modern software features, warranty coverage or measured low latency. The documentation does not establish those capabilities.

Platforms and practical limits
- Android phones and tablets: Listed in the manual, but a game must support gamepad input or use a suitable mapping layer. Phone size, case thickness and camera protrusions can also affect holder fit.
- Android TV boxes: The service manual describes Bluetooth, wired and 2.4GHz receiver connections. Actual behavior depends on the box and the app or game.
- Windows PCs: Windows 7 or later is the original documented target. The receiver’s XInput mode is the most straightforward documented wireless route for many PC games; DInput is available when software needs it.
- Steam games: XInput may work in games that recognize standard Xbox-style controllers, but universal Steam compatibility is not established.
- Emulators: Often a useful match when the emulator recognizes Android gamepads, XInput or DInput. Button and axis mappings can vary.
- PlayStation 3: One service-manual version lists PS3 compatibility. Treat it as legacy documentation, not a reason to buy the controller for a current console setup.
- iPhone and iPad: Not listed among the documented platforms. Do not assume iOS compatibility.
The service-manual platform and connection information is available at Manualmachine’s G4S service manual.
Connecting the G4S
Pairing with Android over Bluetooth
- Turn on Bluetooth on the phone or tablet.
- Hold the controller’s Home button for about two seconds, then use the Android/Bluetooth startup mode specified in the manual for your unit. Copies of the instructions differ in how they present mode combinations, so confirm against the manual revision that came with the controller.
- In Android Bluetooth settings, select GameSir-G4s when it appears.
- Open a game that supports controllers and check the button layout. The controller can reconnect automatically when Bluetooth is available, according to the manual.
- If the game ignores input, test a known controller-compatible game or emulator before concluding that the controller is faulty.
The pairing name and reconnection behavior are described in the G4S manual on ManualsLib.
Using the 2.4GHz receiver with Windows
- Insert the original 2.4GHz USB receiver into the PC. Do not assume a generic replacement receiver will pair with the controller.
- Hold X + Home for about two seconds to start the documented XInput connection.
- Wait for the Home indicator to flash and then remain lit. The manual identifies the XInput indicator as blue.
- Test buttons and sticks in Windows’ game-controller testing interface, then launch the game.
The receiver matters: a cable is relatively easy to replace, but a missing or incompatible receiver can remove the G4S’s most useful documented wireless PC option.

The manual describes starting in XInput, then pressing A + Home to switch to DInput. The indicator is described as green in DInput mode. Pressing X + Home returns to XInput. XInput is generally the better first try for current Windows games; DInput can help with older software or emulators that do not recognize the pad as an Xbox-style controller. Switching modes can change how the computer identifies the device and how button labels correspond.

These mode instructions and indicator colors are documented in the G4S user manual on Manualzz.
Wired connection
The G4S documentation lists wired connectivity. Because the controller uses Micro-USB, use a known-good data-capable cable if you are connecting it to a device; a charging-only cable may not carry controller input. Wired mode is a useful fallback, but plug-and-play behavior on every current Android or Windows setup is not guaranteed.
What the phone holder and features offer
The fold-out holder is a practical reason to consider the G4S if you want a traditional controller attached to a phone. A separate clip is intended to stabilize a phone that does not fit tightly. Neither feature proves that a particular modern phone will fit securely: large devices, thick cases and prominent camera bumps can interfere. Ask the seller to demonstrate your phone or a similar-sized one before buying.

These are useful extras, but the available specifications do not establish stick or button durability, precision, or a measured performance advantage. There is no documented Hall-effect stick or trigger feature.
Android games, emulation and Windows play
Android: controller support is game-specific
The strongest Android uses are games with native controller support, compatible emulators, and Android TV apps that accept a gamepad. A controller pairing successfully only confirms the Bluetooth connection; it does not mean every game will accept its inputs.

- Native controller support: Usually the simplest route, with no mapping layer required.
- Emulators: Configure the controller in the emulator; button names and axis behavior may differ by mode.
- Touch-only games: May need touch mapping. That adds setup, permissions and compatibility considerations, and no particular mapping app is established here as a recommended solution.
Windows: start with XInput
The receiver’s XInput path is the G4S’s clearest documented Windows advantage. If a game does not respond, first verify that Windows sees the controller in XInput mode. DInput is an alternative for software that needs it, not automatically a better mode. Steam Input or other remapping software may also affect how inputs reach a game.
No reliable latency measurement, polling-rate figure, battery-runtime test or durability test is established here. Anecdotal reports of Android Bluetooth lag do not justify a universal latency verdict. For competitive shooters, fighting games or rhythm games, do not buy on the assumption that wireless response will meet your needs; compare Bluetooth with the receiver or wired mode on the actual setup.
Battery, sleep and age-related risks
The manual describes a four-LED battery indicator: four lights above 75%, three at 50–75%, two at 25–50%, one at 10–25%, and a flashing indicator below 10%. It also describes sleep after about one minute disconnected and about five minutes without activity. These are original documented behaviors, not a guarantee for a controller that may have been sitting unused for years. G4S manual
Age-related battery wear is a major used-market risk. A controller that powers on but shuts down during play may have a degraded battery rather than a pairing fault. Ask for a charging and play-runtime demonstration; capacity printed in a specification cannot tell you how long a particular old unit will run.
- Use a known-good Micro-USB cable and USB power source to check charging.
- Check whether the indicator behaves consistently and whether the controller remains on during play.
- Do not use a unit with a swollen or unusually hot battery, or one that emits an odor. Stop charging it and return or safely dispose of it through an appropriate battery channel.
Common problems and what to try
Android pairs, but a game does not respond
- Forget the G4S in Android Bluetooth settings, then power-cycle both devices.
- Pair again using the Android mode in the unit’s manual.
- Test a native controller-supported title or emulator and check the game’s own controller settings.
- If only a touch-only game fails, the issue may be that game’s lack of native gamepad support rather than a defective controller.
Windows connects, but a game ignores it
- Remove and reinsert the receiver, and try another USB port.
- Restart in XInput with X + Home.
- Check Windows’ game-controller testing interface to confirm that inputs register.
- Try Steam Input if appropriate; switch to DInput only when the game or emulator requires it.
- If the receiver is missing or unreliable, do not count on a generic replacement fixing the problem.
Bluetooth feels laggy or the controller will not turn on
For perceived lag, move closer, reduce obstructions and unused Bluetooth connections, then compare Bluetooth with receiver or wired operation. Interference, the Android implementation, battery condition and game frame pacing can all affect the experience; without a controlled measurement, the cause cannot be assigned to the controller alone.

If it will not turn on, the manual lists a depleted battery as one possible cause. Try a known-good Micro-USB cable and power source, and allow time to charge. Stop immediately if the unit becomes hot, swollen or smells unusual. Service manual troubleshooting
Should you buy the G4S or a newer controller?
The G4S has a distinct combination: a built-in phone holder and a traditional wireless gamepad with a dedicated 2.4GHz PC receiver. Newer models are not exact replacements, so choose by the connection and form factor you actually need.
| Option | Why consider it | Trade-off or fit |
|---|---|---|
| Used GameSir G4S | Potentially low-cost full-size controller, phone holder, Android Bluetooth and receiver-based Windows use | Legacy stock; condition, battery, receiver and current compatibility are uncertain |
| GameSir G8 Galileo | Current wired phone-focused option with USB-C, Hall-effect sticks and triggers, pass-through charging, two back buttons and app customization. GameSir’s U.S. page showed $59.99 sale versus $79.99 listed comparison price on August 18, 2026. | Wired to the phone; not a like-for-like wireless Windows receiver controller. Confirm phone and case clearance. |
| GameSir X2s Bluetooth | More modern mobile-focused Bluetooth option; catalog price was $44.99 on August 18, 2026. | Not the same full-size traditional Windows controller or integrated G4S-style phone-holder setup. |
| GameSir X5s Wireless | More current wireless mobile-controller positioning; catalog price was $49.99 on August 18, 2026. | Does not replicate the G4S’s particular receiver workflow; check phone fit and edition. |
| GameSir G8 Plus | Current mobile-oriented wireless option; the catalog showed $59.99 for the standard Bluetooth listing and $79.99 for the MFi Type-C listing on August 18, 2026. | Check the exact variant and availability; some catalog editions were marked sold out. It is not a dedicated G4S-style PC receiver replacement. |
| GameSir Nova Lite | Lower-cost current GameSir gamepad; catalog price was $24.99 on August 18, 2026. | Does not offer the G4S’s integrated phone cradle or its same set of legacy modes. |
Catalog prices and availability are snapshots from August 18, 2026, not price guarantees. The G8 Galileo is a more advanced phone-focused alternative, but its wired connection is a meaningful difference from the G4S’s wireless setup.
Used-buying checklist
Before paying, get the seller to demonstrate the exact unit and confirm:
- It powers on, charges and stays on during play.
- The original 2.4GHz receiver is physically included and works with a Windows PC.
- Android Bluetooth pairing succeeds if that is your intended connection.
- Face buttons, D-pad, sticks, triggers, bumpers and stick-clicks register; check for drift.
- Vibration works and the phone holder opens, locks and supports a suitable phone securely.
- The Micro-USB port is not loose or intermittent when the cable moves.
- There is no battery swelling, unusual heat or odor.
- The seller accepts returns for pairing, battery or receiver problems.
Price has to reflect the condition and the contents. There is no reliable current G4S price established here: compare the actual listing with current alternatives, and avoid paying near-new-controller money for an unverified legacy unit.
