For Charles M. Schulz’s newspaper strip, start with The Complete Peanuts 1950–1952, then read the remaining volumes in ascending year order. Fantagraphics describes the collection as the full run of daily and Sunday strips in chronological order.

Where to start

Begin with The Complete Peanuts 1950–1952. It opens with the strip’s launch in late 1950 and continues through 1952. Fantagraphics’ original project announcement identifies this as the opening volume.

How to follow the publication order

  1. Read The Complete Peanuts 1950–1952 first.

  2. Continue through the later The Complete Peanuts books by their printed year ranges, from earliest to latest. Fantagraphics says the series presents the entire run chronologically, including daily and Sunday strips, with two years in each later volume. See the publisher’s series listing.

This is a reading order for Schulz’s syndicated newspaper strip, not a sequence for every Peanuts adaptation or related publication.

Choose the right edition for Sunday strips

The main Complete Peanuts volumes include both daily and Sunday strips. The Sunday pages are printed in black and white in the cited edition: Fantagraphics lists its paperback for 1981–1982 as 344 pages, black and white, ISBN 9781683964810. Those specifications describe that particular edition and should not be assumed to apply to every printing.

If you want Sunday pages in color, Peanuts Every Sunday is a separate, Sunday-only series of restored and recolored pages. It is a visual-format companion, not a substitute for the daily-and-Sunday chronological run. Fantagraphics describes it as ten oversized softcover volumes spanning half-decades. Its 1996–2000 listing identifies that book as the final volume and gives an on-sale date of November 29, 2022, with 264 pages in full color.

The publisher lists Peanuts Every Sunday 1956–1960 as the second softcover volume, with a scheduled on-sale date of November 24, 2026. As of October 3, 2026, that date is in the future, so it is a planned release rather than a publication already on sale.

Availability and buying the books

Availability depends on the edition, seller, and country. Fantagraphics’ direct-order pages state regional restrictions; those limits apply to the publisher’s own sales and should not be assumed to govern other retailers. Check the current listing for the specific edition you want rather than relying on an old stock or shipping claim.
