What is Demidoff Corp?
Demidoff Corp is an atmospheric 2D metroidvania being developed and published by Targem Games for PC. Its announcement describes a mystical, historical version of the Ural region, where a magical affliction is spreading through the land. Players take the role of a retired royal agent investigating the outbreak and tasked with reporting the truth to the Tsar. Targem’s official Steam listing provides the current store description and PC details.
How does Ural folklore shape the game?
Targem says the game draws on Ural folk tales by Pavel Bazhov, whose short stories inspire its characters and creatures. The developer also says the plot centers on Nikita Demidov, founder of the Demidov industrial dynasty. That points to a blend of folklore and historical setting; the available official material does not establish that the game adapts a particular Bazhov story or that its history is intended to be strictly accurate. Targem’s community announcement describes these inspirations.
What will players explore and do?
The announced locations include icy mining tunnels, mysterious lakes, forests, village streets, Demidov’s estates and the Tower. The story follows the agent’s investigation across these places as the magical affliction spreads.

According to the official game description, play involves exploration, combat with creatures and bosses, quests, local tales and ancient manuscripts. New abilities are intended to open routes that were previously blocked. A project showcase on the Defold forum additionally describes seven biomes and precise platforming. These are developer-reported features, not hands-on findings, and may change before release.
When is Demidoff Corp coming out?
Targem’s September 21, 2026 announcement targets an early 2027 release. Its project page lists the release year as 2027, while Steam’s current status is “Coming soon.” No specific launch date is confirmed in those listings. Check the Targem project page and Steam listing for changes.
How to request access to the playtest
- Open Demidoff Corp on Steam and sign in to your Steam account.
- Use the playtest access request option shown on the live store page, if it is available.
- Check the store page and your Steam account for any access update; requesting access does not itself guarantee an invitation.
Targem’s community announcement says playtest participants may stream, record gameplay and publish reviews without a content embargo. The developer describes applications as open, but access and availability can change.
