Potentially, but owning the videos does not guarantee that YouTube will approve a channel for monetization, serve ads on a 24/7 stream, or pay a particular amount. Your channel must qualify for the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), pass YouTube’s channel-level originality and authenticity review, have the necessary rights for everything in the stream, and meet the requirements for the monetization features you use. YouTube’s published guidance does not give a blanket approval or prohibition for every continuous loop of creator-owned videos.
What you need before a 24/7 stream can earn on YouTube
Monetization depends on more than who recorded the footage. YouTube assesses the channel against its monetization policies, and eligibility thresholds are a starting point for review—not a promise of acceptance.
Meet the YPP requirements
YouTube’s current YPP eligibility guidance, accessed in 2026, lists baseline requirements that include living in a country or region where YPP is available, having no active Community Guidelines strikes, turning on 2-Step Verification, having access to advanced features, complying with YouTube’s monetization policies, and linking or preparing to set up an AdSense for YouTube account.
For the higher threshold associated with ad revenue, the guidance lists either 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the previous 12 months, or 1,000 subscribers and 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the previous 90 days. Shorts Feed watch time does not count toward the 4,000-hour figure. These are channel eligibility thresholds, not a forecast of how much a stream will earn.

Understand which livestream hours count
Livestream watch time can contribute to the public-watch-hour threshold when the stream is public and is not deleted or left unconverted to VOD. Unlisted or deleted streams, and livestreams that are not converted to VOD, do not count as qualified public watch hours under YouTube’s YPP guidance. Keep the stream’s visibility and VOD status in mind if you are relying on its hours to reach the threshold.

Why a loop of your own videos can still face review
YouTube’s channel monetization policy applies to live streams as well as regular videos and Shorts. It expects monetized content to be original and authentic; generic, repetitive, or mass-produced material may not be eligible. A creator’s ownership of the video files helps establish who made the footage, but does not settle whether a continuous replay meets the channel’s originality requirements.
Reviewers may consider the channel’s main theme, newest and most-viewed videos, the proportion of watch time associated with particular material, metadata, and the About section. That means a 24/7 stream is not necessarily assessed in isolation: the overall channel and the way its content is presented can matter.

In a policy note dated July 15, 2025, YouTube clarified that repetitive or mass-produced content falls under its “inauthentic content” policy and said the reused-content policy had not changed. Reused content is a separate issue: it concerns material repurposed from YouTube or another source without significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value. Neither policy means that every loop is automatically rejected, but neither supports treating creator ownership as automatic approval.

Which YouTube revenue features may apply
YouTube lists live-stream advertising, channel memberships, Super Chat, and Super Stickers among the monetization options for eligible creators. The available features depend on the channel’s eligibility and the relevant terms or modules; getting into YPP does not by itself mean every feature is enabled.

Ads and YouTube Premium revenue
When monetization is enabled for a live stream, pre-roll and display ads are automatically on, while mid-roll ads can be automatic or manual. YouTube explicitly says ad slots are not guaranteed to serve. An automatically starting embedded stream on an external website has ads turned off, according to YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance.
For live or long-form videos viewed on the Watch Page, ad and YouTube Premium revenue requires accepting the Watch Page Monetization Module. YouTube’s partner earnings overview says partners who accept Watch Page Ads receive 55% of net revenues from ads displayed or streamed on public videos on the content Watch Page. That is a revenue-share term, not an estimate of earnings: YouTube does not guarantee how much, or whether, a creator will be paid.

Fan funding and shopping
Memberships, Super Chat, and Super Stickers have their own feature eligibility and module requirements. YouTube’s earnings overview lists a 70% share of net revenues for certain fan-funding features under the Commerce Product Module; that figure applies to those eligible features and module terms, not to livestream revenue generally.

Check rights in every part of the video
YouTube’s livestream terms require the provider to have all rights needed to exploit the live content, including relevant music licensing rights, and to comply with applicable law and Community Guidelines. Owning the recording does not necessarily mean you own or have live-stream and monetization permission for every element inside it.
- Music: Confirm that licenses cover livestreaming and monetization, not just personal use, offline playback, or a one-time upload.
- Footage and images: Check permissions for third-party clips, photographs, artwork, overlays, and other embedded material.
- Other licensed material: Review the specific terms for any material you did not create, including whether continuous rebroadcast is allowed.
Clearance and originality review are separate questions: permission to use an element does not, by itself, establish that a channel meets YouTube’s monetization policies.
Keep the stream running without confusing hosting with monetization
A live-streaming video encoder is one possible way to send a stream to YouTube; YouTube’s guidance does not establish that dedicated encoder hardware is required. Whatever setup you use, reliable delivery does not change YPP eligibility, originality review, rights obligations, or whether ads serve.

What to expect—and what not to assume
A 24/7 loop can be considered for monetization, but there is no general YouTube guarantee that a creator-owned loop will pass review or produce revenue. Treat the decision as a channel-level policy and rights question, then distinguish that from technical uptime: a stream can stay online while still failing monetization review, and an accepted monetized stream can have ad slots that do not serve.
