To fix audio gaps in a 24/7 YouTube playlist stream, first find out whether the silence is in the source file, the encoder’s local output, or only the stream viewers receive. Check the media around the gap and listen to a local recording of the outgoing stream; if both are clean, investigate YouTube’s Live Control Room health messages, encoder settings and load, and the outbound internet connection.
How do I locate where the audio gap starts?
Note when the gap happens, whether it repeats at the same track or loop boundary, and whether other viewers hear it too. These clues narrow the checks, but none proves a cause on its own. A gap in one viewer’s playback, for example, does not establish that the stream itself went silent.
- Listen to the exact source segment. Play the file from shortly before to shortly after the reported silence. Check the end of the preceding track and the start of the next one.
- Inspect a local archive or recording of the outgoing stream. Compare the same timestamp. YouTube recommends checking the encoder stream and local archive when investigating audio or video problems (YouTube live-streaming troubleshooting).
- Compare what you heard. If the source or local archive contains the gap, focus on the media, playback source, playlist order, or transition. If those are clean but viewers hear silence or buffering, move on to the encoder, YouTube health messages, and connection.
What should I check in the playlist and media?
If the gap repeats between the same tracks
Inspect the preceding file’s ending and the next file’s beginning for unintended silence. Check whether the playback source or playlist transition inserts a pause. Try a corrected copy or transition in a short private or unlisted test before changing a live 24/7 stream.
If the gap repeats when the playlist loops
Examine the final item and first item in the playlist, including any silence at either end and how the playback system joins them. A community report describes a gap during an FFmpeg loop, but it does not establish a universal cause or a verified fix (community report about an FFmpeg loop gap). Treat a repeatable loop-boundary pause as a reason to test the source and transition—not proof that FFmpeg or looping is at fault.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If the timing changes or the silence is in the file
Check the affected media and the software or process playing it. Compare the source with the local output over the same interval. If the source itself has unwanted silence, edit or replace that segment, then test the result before putting it back into the live playlist.
What should I check in the encoder and YouTube?
Check the encoder’s preview, audio input, and load
- Listen to the encoder preview and confirm it is using the intended audio source and routing.
- Review encoder logs or error messages around the timestamp of the gap.
- Check CPU load and whether the encoder reports performance problems. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance recommends checking source quality and CPU load and updating third-party encoder software when a stream looks or sounds poor (YouTube live-streaming troubleshooting).
If you test with another encoder, change one thing at a time and compare the local output. Treat this as a controlled diagnostic comparison; a different encoder is not a guaranteed fix.

Read the specific Live Control Room health message
Use the warning shown for your stream to guide the next check rather than assuming every audio gap has the same cause. YouTube’s ingest error guidance identifies audio configuration problems, including AAC-format and audio-stream errors; it also warns that missing audio or multiple audio streams can cause ingestion problems. The guidance says to use H.264 video and AAC audio for proper ingestion, but confirm the current requirements for your ingest mode before changing settings (YouTube live-streaming troubleshooting and errors).
Check the selected audio stream and format against YouTube’s current guidance and the settings for the ingest mode you use. Do not copy settings intended for a different mode without verifying that they apply.

When should I investigate the internet connection?
If the encoder preview and local archive are clean, investigate delivery between the encoder and YouTube. YouTube recommends checking the outbound internet connection when the encoder and local archive appear healthy, and contacting your internet service provider if connection testing indicates a problem (YouTube live-streaming troubleshooting).
Read YouTube’s stream-health messages alongside the connection symptoms. Its API health documentation includes the warning, “YouTube is not receiving enough video to maintain smooth streaming,” and notes that keyframes sent too infrequently can cause buffering (YouTube LiveStream health-status documentation). Those warnings point to delivery or stream-health trouble; they do not establish that an audio file is faulty, or that keyframes caused every audio gap.

For OBS users
Check OBS’s stream-buffering troubleshooting guidance and compare its indicators with YouTube’s health messages. This can help distinguish local encoding symptoms from connection-related ones (OBS streaming buffering issues).

| What you observe | Where to investigate first |
|---|---|
| The source file contains the silence | Inspect or replace the affected media segment. |
| The source is clean, but the local archive contains the gap | Check playback, playlist transition, encoder input and routing, and encoder errors. |
| The gap repeats at a track or loop boundary | Inspect both file edges and the transition; test a corrected version privately or unlisted. |
| The source and local archive are clean, but viewers report problems | Read YouTube’s Live Control Room health messages, inspect encoder status, and investigate the outbound connection. |
| YouTube reports insufficient video or infrequent keyframes | Investigate stream delivery and the applicable encoder configuration; do not assume the playlist audio is damaged. |
| Only one viewer reports a gap | Compare another viewer’s playback and the local archive before changing the source or live settings. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If you have ruled out a damaged source or transition and want a prerecorded playlist to keep running without a computer or home connection staying on, StreamNeo runs an always-on YouTube stream from uploaded videos. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It streams what you upload, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card; the monthly option is $9.99 per month. This does not replace checking your media for silence at a track or loop boundary.
