Test the overlay before going live. The alert setup handles the on-screen notification; it does not by itself keep a 24/7 encoder or stream healthy.
1. Confirm that Super Chat is available for your channel and stream
Super Chat and Super Stickers require fan-funding eligibility, availability in your location, and acceptance of the applicable terms. They are unavailable on age-restricted, unlisted, private, or made-for-kids videos, and when live chat or comments are turned off. Check the Earn tab in YouTube Studio for your channel’s current status and the live stream’s settings. YouTube’s eligibility and policy details explain the restrictions.
YouTube’s monetization page lists expanded YouTube Partner Program access thresholds of 500 subscribers, three public uploads in the previous 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified public long-form watch hours in the previous 365 days or 3 million qualified public Shorts views in the previous 90 days. These are entry thresholds, not a guarantee that Super Chat is enabled: individual features have additional requirements and location availability. Confirm the actual feature status in YouTube Studio. See YouTube’s current monetization requirements.
2. Turn on Super Chat and link an alert provider
Enable Super Chat in YouTube Studio before configuring a third-party alert. YouTube’s integration guidance describes signing in with Google and linking the eligible channel to the provider. The exact authorization screens can change, so follow the current prompts and make sure you authorize the correct channel. YouTube’s third-party integration instructions cover the prerequisite and linking process.

Streamlabs documents Super Chats as an event supported by its YouTube Alert Box. In Streamlabs, configure the alert’s appearance and behavior in the Alert Box settings, then use the widget URL for the OBS integration. Streamlabs’ alert setup guide explains its current workflow. You can also choose another provider, but verify that it explicitly supports YouTube Super Chat events and review its current authorization and terms.
3. Add the alert to OBS as a Browser Source
OBS does not provide stream alerts directly; the alert comes from a third-party provider and is embedded in the scene. OBS’s alerts FAQ describes the Browser Source approach.

- Open OBS and select the scene in which Super Chat alerts should appear.
- In the Sources panel, select + and add a Browser source. Create a new source or select an existing alert source if appropriate.
- Copy the alert widget URL from the provider and paste it into the Browser Source’s URL field.
- Set the Browser Source width and height to suit the stream canvas and the provider’s widget. Position and resize it in the scene so alerts are visible without obscuring important gameplay or information.
- Repeat for each scene where alerts need to appear, or use a shared scene/source arrangement that keeps the alert visible across those scenes.
OBS and providers may revise interface labels; use the current provider widget URL and OBS Browser Source controls rather than an old saved link or tutorial screenshot.
4. Test the widget and the live path
Use the provider’s test function to check that the alert renders in the intended scene, at a readable size and in the right position. A test confirms that the widget appears; it does not prove that a real YouTube Super Chat event has been received. Do not describe a test alert as confirmation of a completed live transaction.

- Check the scene or scenes in which the alert should appear.
- Verify text legibility and that the alert does not cover essential game UI.
- Confirm the provider remains authorized for the right YouTube channel and that live chat is enabled for the stream.
- Preview the stream and monitor audio and video once live. YouTube recommends previewing and checking stream quality; see its live-stream tips for encoder events.
5. Keep a 24/7 broadcast operational
An alert widget is only one part of a continuous broadcast. Keep the encoder running, preserve the provider authorization and Browser Source, and monitor the stream’s connection and audio/video over time. Treat account authorization, live chat, browser rendering, encoder health, network stability, and stream monitoring as separate checks. YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends previewing the event, checking accessibility, watching local archive-file growth where applicable, and monitoring audio and video continuously.
Do not rely on a complete automatic archive
YouTube warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Streams shorter than 12 hours may be automatically archived, but that does not make an archive certain for a 24/7 broadcast. If a recording matters, keep a local recording or divide the broadcast into shorter segments if that suits the channel. Read YouTube’s archive guidance.

Choose third-party tools with care
YouTube’s tools directory describes third-party live-stream tools and notes that external applications can use the Live Chat API to display comments and Super Chats. YouTube also says listed products are not made or endorsed by Google. Check each provider’s Super Chat event support, authorization method, test options, moderation controls, availability, and terms rather than treating inclusion in a directory as an endorsement. - No Super Chat option in YouTube Studio: Check the channel’s Earn tab, location availability, applicable terms, and the stream’s visibility, age, made-for-kids, and live-chat settings. A subscriber or watch-hour threshold alone does not establish feature eligibility.
- The test alert does not appear in OBS: Check that the Browser Source uses the current widget URL, has suitable dimensions, is enabled in the active scene, and is not hidden behind another source. Test the provider widget again.
- The test appears but a real Super Chat does not: A widget test is not an end-to-end event test. Recheck channel authorization, Super Chat availability, the live stream’s chat settings, and the provider’s current YouTube event support.
- The alert disappears when changing scenes: Add the Browser Source to every scene that needs it or arrange the scene sources so the alert remains available across transitions.
- The 24/7 stream stops or its quality degrades: Diagnose encoder health, network stability, and the stream preview separately from the alert widget. YouTube recommends continuous audio/video monitoring; an alert overlay cannot recover a failed encoder or connection.
