How to Create a 24/7 YouTube Rain Sounds and Lofi Radio Stream

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To create a 24/7 YouTube rain-and-lofi radio stream, clear the rights to every track and sound, combine the audio with a still or looping visual in an encoder, and send the feed to YouTube Live. For a local setup, the computer, encoder, and internet connection must stay available; a supervised server or cloud workflow can move the streaming job off your personal computer, but no setup guarantees uninterrupted uptime.

Check that your channel can stream

Before preparing a long mix, open YouTube Studio and check live-stream access. YouTube’s current eligibility guidance requires a verified channel, no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days, and an account holder who is at least 16. First-time activation may take time, so confirm availability in Studio rather than waiting until launch day. YouTube says live content must comply with its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming

An encoder is the natural route for a radio-style broadcast: it sends audio and video together and supports a composed visual scene. YouTube’s help also describes webcam, mobile, and console routes, but these are not as suited to a continuous pre-produced radio mix. Create the broadcast in Live Control Room and treat the stream key like a password: do not put it in public notes, screenshots, or chat.

Clear rights for every sound and image

Make an inventory of every lofi track, rain recording, sample, transition, and visual loop before assembling the stream. A file being free to download, labeled “no copyright,” or available in a creator’s video does not by itself establish permission for a continuous YouTube livestream. Keep the license terms and written permissions for commissioned or externally licensed work, including any limits on live use, looping, attribution, and monetization.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Use YouTube’s Audio Library carefully

YouTube states: “Music and sound effects from the YouTube Audio Library are copyright-safe.” That statement applies to tracks from YouTube’s own Audio Library, not unrelated libraries or channels. Check each track’s license details. Some Audio Library tracks require Creative Commons attribution in the video description; include the supplied credit when required. YouTube Help: Use music and sound effects from the Audio Library

Rights clearance is not the same as a guarantee that a live broadcast will never receive a claim or be interrupted. Keep records that let you respond to questions about each asset, and do not assume that a long mix, a loop, or a still image changes the rights attached to its contents.

Build a rain-and-lofi program viewers can recognize

Choose a defined listening use—such as quiet study, late-night reading, or a rainy-window ambience—and let it guide track selection, title, visual treatment, and chat tone. “Rain sounds and lofi” describes the ingredients; a consistent mood gives the station an identity.

  • Assemble a playlist from original or permissioned music and ambience. Listen through transitions and check that the rain does not mask the music or create abrupt jumps in loudness.
  • Use a still image or a restrained visual loop that remains legible at the size viewers are likely to watch. A simple visual is easier to keep stable than a complicated scene, but it still needs appropriate rights.
  • Check the complete playback cycle, including the end-to-start transition. Make sure the audio source does not stop after one pass if the station is meant to continue.
  • Use a title and description that accurately describe the sound and its intended mood. Do not imply that the station is live music performance if it is a prerecorded playlist.

Choose how to keep the stream running

Route Best suited to What it involves Trade-off
StreamNeo Creators who want prerecorded videos to keep a YouTube channel live without leaving a home computer running Upload a recording or build a playlist, add the YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the uploaded video from the cloud. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and streams to YouTube only. One slot includes 10 GB storage, pooled across active slots.
Local computer with OBS Creators who want a graphical control surface and direct scene control Build a scene with the visual and audio sources, select YouTube as the service, enter the stream key, then start the encoder. The computer, OBS, and internet connection must remain available. Plan for monitoring and recovery if any part stops.
Linux server with FFmpeg Creators comfortable with command-line media setup and process supervision Combine the audio source with a still or video loop and run FFmpeg as a background process. The cited practical guide describes configuring automatic restart. Requires server administration, input and output configuration, logs, and monitoring. Restart logic helps recover from some failures but does not guarantee uptime.

YouTube’s API documentation also illustrates maintaining a 24/7 feed and creating a separate broadcast from the same stream when needed. That API capability is not necessary for a basic single-feed launch. Google for Developers: YouTube Live Streaming API – Understanding Broadcasts and Streams

For a do-it-yourself route, choose OBS if you want to inspect scenes and sources visually; choose FFmpeg on a server if you can configure and supervise a persistent process. The practical FFmpeg workflow is covered by RadioTech Studio’s 24/7 Radio on YouTube Live with OBS & FFmpeg guide. It is a third-party walkthrough, not a YouTube guarantee or a claim about any server provider’s uptime.

Configure the encoder and stream quality

YouTube’s current encoder guidance lists RTMP or RTMPS ingestion, H.264, H.265, or AV1 video, up to 60 fps, and AAC or MP3 audio. YouTube recommends RTMPS, which carries RTMP over an SSL connection; use the endpoint shown in Live Control Room and keep the key private. Use a bitrate your upload can sustain

The following are YouTube’s listed H.264 examples, not a recommended internet-plan purchase or a promise that a connection will sustain the feed. Leave upload headroom and test on the connection and equipment you intend to use.

Output YouTube-listed minimum video bitrate YouTube-listed recommended video bitrate
1080p at 30 fps, H.264 5 Mbps 14 Mbps
720p at 30 fps, H.264 3 Mbps 8 Mbps

Keyframes and audio

  • Set the keyframe interval to 2 seconds; YouTube says it should not exceed 4 seconds.
  • For stereo audio, YouTube recommends 44.1 kHz sample rate and 128 Kbps bitrate.
  • Use constant bitrate encoding where the encoder offers the setting, and pick a resolution and frame rate the connection and machine can sustain.
  • For a mostly static radio visual, a high frame rate may not add much for viewers; choose the output based on the visual and the resources available, not just the maximum the encoder offers.

These settings and bitrate figures are from YouTube Help pages current when checked in 2026; the pages do not display publication dates. Actual performance depends on your encoder, connection, and chosen media.

Launch with a real preflight test

  1. Prepare the broadcast. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room, create or select the broadcast, and copy the stream key into the encoder’s YouTube destination settings. Do not share the key.
  2. Set up the media. In OBS, add the visual and audio sources and verify the audio meter moves. In an FFmpeg workflow, confirm the input paths and output endpoint and key. Ensure the playlist or loop continues past its first cycle.
  3. Check upload capacity. Run an upload-speed test on the actual connection and choose an encoder bitrate it can sustain with headroom. YouTube recommends testing before going live.
  4. Send a representative test. Use a private or unlisted test where appropriate, with audio and visual movement comparable to the planned show. A static placeholder test will not expose every issue in a moving or changing program.
  5. Inspect as a viewer. Open the stream on a separate device and check picture, audio balance, transitions, and playback continuity. In Live Control Room, confirm the incoming feed and stream health before announcing the station.
  6. Keep a recovery path ready. Know how to restart OBS or the FFmpeg process, check logs or status, and reconnect to the intended broadcast. If an outage requires a new broadcast, update viewers with the new destination.

Monitor failures and recover deliberately

A stream can stop because of a lost connection, encoder crash, failed media source, incorrect key, or a problem at the destination. A background process or automatic restart can help, but it is not a substitute for checking the YouTube feed and having a way to respond.

Symptom Likely cause to check Recovery
YouTube receives no video Wrong broadcast or stream key, encoder not sending, or an unavailable visual source Check the selected broadcast and key in Studio, confirm the encoder is running, and verify that the visual source is active.
Picture arrives but audio is silent Wrong audio source, muted source, or a media file that ended Check source selection and mute state, watch the audio meter, and confirm the playlist or loop is still playing.
Stream health warns or viewers see stutter Upload instability, bitrate too high for the connection, or encoder overload Check the connection and encoder load, then reduce output settings if needed and run another representative test.
Stream stops after running for a while Computer, network, encoder, server process, or media input stopped Inspect the encoder or server status and logs, restart the failed component, and verify the feed in Live Control Room before relying on it again.
Broadcast is interrupted by a rights issue A track, sample, or visual lacks the necessary permission or triggers a claim Review the affected asset and its permission records; replace or remove material that is not cleared for the use. Use Audio Library license details or documented external permissions when choosing replacements.

YouTube’s live-stream limits page currently lists up to 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key. A single radio stream is well within those stated limits. Check YouTube’s current live-stream eligibility and limits

Or let it run in the cloud

With StreamNeo, upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It keeps the uploaded video looping in the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Every slot streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it does not re-encode or use quality tiers. Automatic recovery helps if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. The monthly option is $9.99 per month. The service is for prerecorded video streams to YouTube, not camera broadcasting. Start your free day with StreamNeo.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a still image be used for a YouTube radio stream?

Yes. The stream still needs a video signal, which can be a still image or a loop, alongside the audio.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can I use a song labeled “no copyright” in a 24/7 stream?

That label alone does not establish livestream rights. Check the track’s actual license and keep permission records.
