Embark’s May 13, 2026 announcement shifted major updates to twice a year—but said regular live updates and fixes would continue.
What did the ARC Raiders developer say about the workload?
In a September 29, 2026 interview with Game Developer, executive producer Aleksander Grøndal said the demands of running ARC Raiders as a live-service game had outstripped what he was mentally prepared for. He described the team as tired and said it had been exceeding its capacity while trying to maintain the game and deliver content. These are Grøndal’s assessments of the team’s experience, not independently audited findings.
“Transitioning to live service is going to be fucking hard. Everyone said that to me. I’ve even said that to other people. I was mentally prepared for it to be hard—but I wasn’t completely prepared for how hard it was,”
Grøndal linked the strain to the pace and nature of content production as well as the ongoing work required to operate a live game, including fixing bugs and addressing exploits. He said: “The team is super tired. We’re putting out content as fast as we can but it’s not enough, and perhaps it wasn’t necessarily interesting enough as well,”

Why did ARC Raiders stop doing monthly updates?
Embark’s official May 13, 2026 update-schedule announcement said major updates would arrive twice a year, rather than following a monthly major-update cadence. The studio described the planned updates as larger and more impactful, intended to genuinely change how players experience the game.
