YouTube’s current guidance recommends 35 Mbps for H.264 at 4K60; for AV1 or H.265/HEVC, it lists 10–40 Mbps. Use RTMPS if your encoder supports it, then test from the actual streaming location and check the Live Control Room’s preview and stream health before the event.
Recommended YouTube Live 4K60 settings
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Resolution | 3840×2160 (2160p) |
| Frame rate | 60fps |
| Codec | H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1, if supported by your encoder and YouTube ingest setup |
| Bitrate | H.264: YouTube recommends 35 Mbps. AV1 or H.265: YouTube lists 10–40 Mbps. |
| Rate control | CBR (constant bitrate) |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds recommended; do not exceed 4 seconds |
| Ingest protocol | RTMP or RTMPS; use RTMPS where supported |
| Latency | Normal latency for 4K/2160p; YouTube does not offer its “improve for low latency” option for 4K streams |
These are YouTube’s published ingest settings, not a guarantee that an internet connection can sustain a 4K60 stream. Its bitrate figures are configuration guidance, not independent performance-test results. Choose a codec your encoder supports and verify the connection at the location and time you intend to stream.
Check channel eligibility in India
YouTube’s encoder instructions do not specify a separate 4K60 configuration for India. The general live-streaming requirements apply, while access to computer live streaming and daily limits can vary by channel. Before setting up the encoder:
- Verify the YouTube channel and confirm live streaming is enabled.
- Check that the channel has no live-streaming restriction from the previous 90 days.
- In YouTube Studio, review the account’s current feature access and live-streaming status rather than assuming every channel has the same access or limits.
- Make sure the creator meets YouTube’s general minimum age requirement for live streaming: 16.
These requirements and account checks are described in YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance and its feature-access information for India.

- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Set up the stream in YouTube Studio and your encoder
- Create or schedule the broadcast. Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream, then copy its stream URL and stream key into your encoder. Keep the key private. If you believe it has been exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio.
- Set the video format. In the encoder, select 3840×2160 resolution and 60fps. Choose H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1 only if your encoder and the YouTube ingest setup support that codec.
- Set bitrate and rate control. For H.264, use YouTube’s recommended 35 Mbps setting. For AV1 or H.265, choose within YouTube’s published 10–40 Mbps range, based on what the encoder supports and what your tested connection can sustain. Set rate control to CBR.
- Set keyframes and protocol. Set the keyframe interval to 2 seconds, without exceeding 4 seconds. Select RTMPS if your encoder offers it; YouTube also lists RTMP ingest.
- Start an encoder test. Send a test using movement and audio similar to the actual event. Check the Live Control Room preview and stream-health messages before starting the public broadcast. During the event, keep monitoring audio and video quality.
Use YouTube’s encoder settings guidance, encoder setup steps, RTMPS information, and live-streaming tips alongside your encoder’s own current instructions. Exact menu names vary by encoder, so the settings above are the values to match rather than a universal click path.
Test upload stability where you will stream
For a 4K60 broadcast, the important question is not only whether a connection reaches a particular speed in a general speed test, but whether it can sustain the encoder’s selected bitrate without interruptions on the route to YouTube. Test from the same network and location you will use for the event, ideally at a similar time. Watch YouTube’s stream-health feedback during a representative test; if the connection cannot sustain the chosen setting, lower the bitrate or reconsider the resolution or frame rate, then test again.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
YouTube’s cited material does not require a particular Indian ISP, city, router, or dedicated hardware encoder for 4K60. Local network conditions and the route to YouTube can differ, so a test is more useful than assuming performance based on geography or a single speed result.
Trade-offs to consider before going live
4K image quality versus viewer delay
YouTube says 4K/2160p streams do not have the “improve for low latency” option and are optimized for quality at normal latency. If rapid interaction with viewers matters more than 4K resolution, reconsider the 4K target before the broadcast rather than expecting the low-latency option to be available.

Codec choice and available bitrate
The published bitrate guidance differs by codec: H.264 has a recommended 35 Mbps setting at 4K60, while AV1 and H.265 use a listed range of 10–40 Mbps. The best practical choice depends on encoder support and the stable uplink you can verify; do not treat the broad AV1/H.265 range as a promise that any setting in it will work on your connection.
Troubleshoot common 4K60 streaming problems
| Symptom | Likely checks and fixes |
|---|---|
| The stream does not appear in the Live Control Room | Confirm the encoder is using the stream URL and key for the correct scheduled stream. Check that live streaming is enabled for the channel and that the key has not been reset or copied incorrectly. |
| Stream health reports problems or video is unstable | Test the uplink from the actual streaming location. Confirm CBR and the selected codec’s bitrate setting, then reduce bitrate if the connection cannot sustain it. Run another representative test before the event. |
| The stream looks wrong or does not match 4K60 | Check that the encoder output is set to 3840×2160 at 60fps and that the chosen codec is supported. Confirm the incoming preview and stream status in the Live Control Room. |
| Unexpected delay makes viewer interaction difficult | 4K/2160p does not offer YouTube’s “improve for low latency” option. Decide whether normal latency is acceptable or switch away from the 4K target and test the revised setup. |
| Audio or motion quality differs from the test | Make the test resemble the event’s real audio and movement, and continue monitoring audio/video quality during the broadcast. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded video running on a YouTube channel rather than broadcast a live camera or gameplay feed, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home. It plays your uploads as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot regardless of quality, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for uploaded videos on YouTube, not camera-based live broadcasts. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
