Organize lessons as a searchable library first, then build a separate 24/7 broadcast rotation from that library. Catalog each recording by exam, subject and syllabus unit; publish focused lessons in ordered playlists; keep original files and separate archives; and make the live feed’s schedule clear to viewers.
Build the lesson library before planning the stream
A continuous broadcast is a feed, not a dependable table of contents. Viewers who want a particular topic should be able to find its individual recording without waiting for it to come around in the rotation or scrubbing through hours of video.
Create a master catalog
Start with a spreadsheet or database. Give every lesson a stable ID and record the fields that make it easy to locate, review and update:
- Exam or board, subject, syllabus unit and learning objective
- Lesson number and a concise topic title
- Runtime and recording date
- Rights and permissions status for the recording and every inserted asset
- Whether captions, corrections or a new version are needed
This is an editorial workflow, not a YouTube-required taxonomy. Adapt the fields to the exam and curriculum you serve.

Name files consistently and preserve originals
Use names that remain meaningful outside your editing software, such as Exam-Subject-Unit-Lesson-Topic-v01. Keep the unedited original and the approved edited master in a separately backed-up location. If a lesson is corrected, retain a clear version history and update the published video and catalog so an old copy is not mistaken for the current one.
Make individual lessons easy to browse
Use focused videos and predictable titles
Where practical, publish one focused lesson per video. A useful title pattern is Exam | Subject | Unit | Lesson: Topic. Put the exam and subject early, then identify the unit and specific topic. Avoid suggesting an exam authority officially endorses a playlist unless it does.

Build playlists in layers
Create one playlist for each exam or board, then subject or major syllabus-area playlists. For a large catalog, add unit-level playlists. Order lessons by the relevant syllabus sequence; if the order instead reflects topic or popularity, say so in the playlist description. YouTube’s live-production guide recommends adding completed streams to relevant channel playlists and using a “Live Archives” shelf: YouTube’s full live production guide.
Design the 24/7 rotation as its own program
Choose a rotation that makes sense for someone arriving at any hour. You might loop one exam’s subjects in syllabus order, dedicate different blocks to different exams, or run a clearly labeled revision cycle. Keep the rotation coherent rather than mixing unrelated lessons without explanation.

Tell viewers what is playing
- Publish a schedule or explain the rotation in the stream description.
- Use a brief slate between lessons with the exam, subject and unit, plus directions to the individual recording or playlist.
- If the order changes, update the schedule and description.
- Use the channel’s playlists as the lasting navigation system; don’t make the live feed the only way to access a lesson.
Set up and test YouTube live access
YouTube supports encoder streaming for live programs. Google’s API documentation also describes an ongoing 24/7 broadcast that can remain live while another broadcast is made from the same stream; that documents a platform model, not a beginner encoder recipe or endorsement of a particular provider. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance and the YouTube Live Streaming API documentation.
Preflight checklist
- Confirm access. YouTube’s setup guidance says the channel must be verified and must have had no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. The page lists a limit of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key; these platform limits may change.
- Review the rights ledger. Check the recording, slides, music, clips, question-bank images and any other inserted material before building the rotation.
- Confirm the encoder destination. Verify the selected channel and stream key in the encoder, and confirm the correct source or playlist is being sent.
- Test the full setup privately. Check picture, audio, lesson transitions and the viewer-facing description before announcing the stream. YouTube’s live-streaming checklist recommends testing the complete setup privately.
- Watch after launch. Confirm the public feed is actually live and that transitions continue as intended.
See Google’s Live Streaming Guide for the private-test recommendation.

Clear rights and set the audience accurately
Check every asset, not just the lecturer’s video
YouTube says all live streams are scanned for third-party matches, including copyrighted content in another live broadcast. If identified content remains in the stream, YouTube may interrupt or terminate it. A license alone may not prevent an interruption: the rights holder may also need to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Check whether permissions cover live transmission and any archive or video-on-demand use, and keep proof of permission. Read YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.
Choose the made-for-kids setting based on the content
Set the audience designation accurately, not according to which features you would prefer to keep. When content is designated made for kids, YouTube disables or restricts features including live chat, chat replay, comments and reminders. Personalized ads are disabled on live streams and Premieres, though contextual ads may appear. Details are in YouTube’s guidance on live-stream restrictions.

Keep archives and lesson updates separate from the nonstop feed
Do not rely on a 24/7 broadcast as the only copy of lessons or as the archive. Google’s full live-production guide says streams up to 12 hours automatically become video-on-demand; for streams longer than 12 hours, it advises teams to record the production and manually upload a copy if they need an archive. A continuous stream exceeds that duration, so retain source files and publish individual lessons separately. Because platform behavior can change, check YouTube’s current guidance before relying on automatic VOD creation.
Put completed broadcasts in a “Live Archives” shelf and add them to relevant playlists where useful. When a lesson is corrected or the exam blueprint changes, review its title, description, playlist position and version in the catalog.
Choose where the stream runs
The practical question is who will keep the encoder and internet connection running, how you will notice or recover from an interruption, and how much control you need over sequencing and transitions. Local software, dedicated encoder hardware and hosted cloud services are different operating approaches; the cited YouTube guidance establishes encoder streaming but does not provide product-by-product reliability or cost comparisons. Dedicated hardware is not required by the platform.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for looping uploaded recordings. Upload your lessons, add your YouTube stream key, and go live; your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream, and any quality up to 4K 60fps streams as uploaded at one flat price per slot. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. Start your free first day with StreamNeo.
