If your fireplace stream goes quiet at the same point on every repeat, inspect the audio file’s end-to-start boundary first. If the file plays continuously but the live output drops, check the playback source and OBS audio meter. If OBS still shows audio while viewers hear silence, check YouTube’s stream health and ingest settings. The fix depends on where the gap first appears; no single setting is a universal cure.
Find where the silence begins
Use the same audio file and playback setup you use for the stream, then listen and observe in stages. A video that looks seamless does not prove its audio loops seamlessly.
- Listen to the exported audio file locally. Replay it through several end-to-start transitions. If the pause recurs at the same boundary, the audio asset is the likely source.
- Play it through the streaming source and watch OBS’s audio meter. If the local file is continuous but the meter drops at the transition, investigate the source’s playback and signal path.
- Check YouTube stream health if OBS continues to show audio. If the meter remains active but viewers hear a gap, inspect ingest warnings and audio configuration.
This sequence separates an editing problem from a playback problem and a platform-ingest problem. The meter and platform indicators help locate a fault; neither alone confirms that the loop sounds natural to a listener.
If the pause is in the audio file
Edit the end-to-start boundary or prepare a version with a smoother transition, export it, and listen through several repeats again. A crossfade is one possible editing approach, but there is no universally correct duration established for this issue. Choose the transition by listening to the actual ambience rather than assuming a platform setting will remove the gap.

Check the exported file, not only the project timeline: a quiet interval in the export can repeat even when the video’s visual loop appears continuous.
If the gap appears in the playback source or OBS
Run the audio through the same source and configuration used during the live stream. Watch OBS’s audio input meter as one pass ends and the next begins. OBS explains that a missing input indicator means no audio is reaching OBS; possible causes include waiting for file playback or a disconnected audio interface. See OBS Audio Mixer Technical Details.

- If the meter drops at the transition, check that the media source is still playing and configured to repeat as intended.
- If the meter does not respond while playback should be active, check the source selection and audio connection, including whether an interface has disconnected.
- If the meter remains active, listen to the outgoing signal if possible. Meter activity shows signal is reaching OBS; it does not establish that the boundary is free of a perceptible pause.
The exact controls depend on the playback software, operating system, file, and encoder. Because those details are not specified here, there is no single application-specific menu path that applies to every setup.
If OBS shows audio but YouTube reports a problem
Review YouTube’s stream health and the audio configuration for the ingest mode you are using. The YouTube Live Streaming API documents audio issue codes including noAudioStream, unsupported audio codec, sample-rate mismatch, and multiple audio streams. Consult the YouTube LiveStreams API documentation for the issue indicators.

For YouTube HLS specifically, YouTube Help lists AAC, AC3, and EAC3 audio codec options and recommends 44.1 kHz for stereo or 48 kHz for 5.1 audio. These are HLS-specific details, not settings to copy automatically into a stream using another protocol. Match your encoder configuration to the ingest mode and YouTube’s current requirements. When HLS settings matter—and when they do not
HLS segment and playlist settings govern delivery of media segments; they do not repair a silent boundary already present in the audio file. YouTube Help specifies HLS segment durations between 1 and 4 seconds and a rolling playlist with no more than 5 outstanding segments. The developer guide describes segments as short portions of multimedia and playlists as the ordering information used to reassemble them.
