In PRISM Live Studio Mobile, open your stream’s Video quality settings and choose a resolution and bitrate. PRISM’s general recommendations are 4,000 kbps at 720p and 6,000 kbps at 1080p; these are PRISM recommendations, not stated YouTube requirements. For a connection that fluctuates, PRISM recommends leaving Adaptive Bitrate Publish (ABP) on.
Where to change video quality in PRISM Mobile
- Prepare the stream. Choose the desired streaming mode and tap Ready.
- Open video-quality controls. In the stream setup, open the stream’s Video quality setting. PRISM’s stability guide describes one route as tapping the resolution button on the channel card, then choosing Video quality in the Stream Quality layer. Labels and layout can vary by app version.
- Choose quality settings. Set resolution and bitrate; adjust frame rate and keyframe interval if needed. The exact YouTube-specific screen path is not documented in the available PRISM instructions, so controls may appear differently in your version.
- Finish stream setup. Review the live-stream information, enter and save the required fields, then press Go Live.
PRISM describes resolution, bitrate, frame rate, and keyframe interval as video-quality factors. Its mobile guide gives general guidance of 30 or 60 fps and says a two-second keyframe interval is typical for streaming performance.
Which resolution and bitrate should you choose?

These bitrate pairs come from PRISM’s general mobile guide; they are not identified there as YouTube-specific requirements, and the guide does not establish a current YouTube bitrate table by frame rate, codec, or geography. A higher resolution can show more detail, but it also raises the demands on the phone and the connection. Frame rate affects motion smoothness: 60 fps can look smoother than 30 fps, while 30 fps is generally an easier setting for a phone and connection to sustain.
Adaptive bitrate or fixed quality?
PRISM calls its adaptive feature Adaptive Bitrate Publish (ABP). It adjusts video quality in response to network conditions, and PRISM recommends keeping it on for novice streamers. Its stability guide says ABP can preserve the selected resolution while lowering video quality and data volume to improve transmission reliability. A weak or unstable connection can still produce poor quality for viewers.

To enable it using the route documented in PRISM’s stability guide, tap the resolution button on the channel card, choose Video quality in the Stream Quality layer, and switch Adaptive on. If you turn Adaptive off, PRISM lists variable video-chunk bandwidth ranges as follows:

PRISM says the network should exceed the applicable capacity and recommends at least twice the specified network bandwidth for high-quality streaming. These are guide figures, not a guarantee of service or a measurement of your connection. Fixed settings make sense when you have a reason to control output and stable upload headroom; ABP is the more forgiving choice when conditions change.

What to change when a stream is unstable
Mobile streaming makes the phone capture, display, encode, and transmit video at once, while wireless bandwidth can fluctuate. PRISM recommends Wi-Fi where possible and emphasizes upload bandwidth, because the phone is sending the stream to YouTube.
- Turn on Adaptive if it is off and your connection varies.
- Lower resolution one step if viewers see interruptions or quality drops; PRISM notes that 720p is typically more stable than 1080p under similar conditions.
- Reduce frame rate from 60 fps to 30 fps if the phone or connection struggles. PRISM notes that 30 fps is typically more stable than 60 fps under similar conditions.
- Prefer a reliable Wi-Fi connection where available. Check upload performance in the place and at the time you plan to stream rather than relying on a one-off speed result.
Make one change at a time, then check whether the stream remains stable. If it does not, reduce the load further rather than keeping a high resolution or frame rate that your phone or network cannot sustain.

YouTube options and codec notes
PRISM says its mobile app integrates YouTube live options such as scheduling, category, DVR, stream latency, and license settings. Configure those in the live-stream information as relevant to your broadcast. Stream quality settings do not replace YouTube’s requirements around content rights: use material you have permission to stream, and review YouTube’s current rules for live streams and monetization before broadcasting copyrighted or reused content.
PRISM’s HEVC guidance is specifically for iOS: H.265/HEVC is applied automatically when streaming to YouTube alone; multi-streaming automatically uses H.264. Do not assume that this iOS behavior applies to Android.

Common problems and fixes
- The stream keeps buffering or dropping: Enable Adaptive, then lower resolution or frame rate gradually. Try stable Wi-Fi and avoid choosing settings above your available upload capacity.
- The picture is soft despite selecting 1080p: Resolution alone does not guarantee sharp output. Connection conditions can cause ABP to reduce video quality, and a stream may look poor if upload bandwidth is inadequate.
- The phone struggles during a stream: Lower frame rate or resolution to reduce the combined capture, encoding, and transmission workload.
- You cannot find the documented buttons: The route PRISM describes uses the channel-card resolution button and the Stream Quality layer. App labels can change; look for the stream’s video-quality controls rather than assuming every version has identical wording.
